For those of you who think that Miko is being unnecessarily mean to The Traveller and Paimon, I’d argue that she’s cares a lot more than she let’s on. She let’s them watch her perform the ceremony which she does with no one else - not even the Shrine Maidens. Not for safety reasons, I think that she typically doesn’t like others to see her in such an emotionally vulnerable state as she says goodbye and feels lonely. Letting Paimon and Traveller see her that way and join in the prayer is a huge show of trust and affection in my eyes - and then doubles down on her tricksy nature by getting them to pay for the meal to stay distant.
I actually like it, while she like traveler she still can't bring herself to fully trust them after all one person she trust kinda left her for 500 years and judging her remark about how she wish she have a friend as caring as paimon to traveler hinting that she's rather bitter about it, it'll take some times before she can open up again, and hopefully hoyoverse will put some focus on her like they did to ei, after all like Ei she also lose her friends and saiguu the diffrence is she mask her grieve well
the simplest answer is that she's a kitsune. A Kitsune always enjoy seeing humans break after doing a nasty trick on them. Her concern for the traveler is little to non-existent, not like her love for light novels.
I think that Miko is one of the most misunderstood characters. If anything it’s important that she keeps that mentality of not caring too much. See how Youhei tried to take advantage of her free service and abilities so that his brother could keep the sword skills? She is probably used to having all sorts of people over the years who have tried to get things from her for their personal gain, so she has learned to not be taken advantage of. I think she’s just adjusted to the lifestyle, so it’s an important trait to have. As for taking advantage of the traveller in the end, it was most likely to distract them from the fact that they wanted to cheer her up. She doesn’t like to appear weak.

Personally I found it refreshing to have a character who is kind of self centered without being evil, because it was for the sake of comedy. She kinda reminds me of Aqua from Konosuba, except not a complete idiot.
True. It was indeed for the comedy. And every character in this game take advantage of traveler, literally everyone. The difference is, Miko doesn't hide it. For example, Ayaka, she leveraging her title as yashiro commissioner, that she would help traveler to meet the Shogun if traveler help yashiro commission problem. And don't even make me start with Venti and Zhongli, how their leave their mess onto traveler. The whole game is literally traveler doing errands for other people.

To add further to all of this, Miko also saved the traveler life and did more for him then any of all other characters combined, apart from child who technicly saved us from being arrested by the millilleth.
not to mention the traveller is using everyone else for their own means too, if they didn't think Venti, ZL and Ei could help with finding their sibling they wouldn't have bothered with any of this at all, like have some self-awareness lol
Think about it though for the people who did get possessed, would only be possessed for a short time before the spirit was exorcized and disappear after being outside a mortal vessel for too long

@@crewyard9917 I doubt it. Urakusai was a youkai and so far all of the supernatural beings in the game so far have had unique designs. Xiao is even considered as supernatural as an adeptus. Hoyo isn't the type to make a unique looking character for the sake of a unique character. There's also something called a budget that they put into the story and characters than worrying about NPCs looking the same. Other games also reuse NPC character models because it's cheaper and allows them to focus on what actually matters instead of NPCs who usually aren't important to the actual quest

Man, i kind of feel bad for Traveler as he did all those work , Yae Miko was behind his mora just like paimon said and was kinda using him for her own problems like writing a new novel, even traveler was annoyed at her from the beginning when they got dragged into this and at the end when he said "We shouldn't have let our guard down", it was visible that he was angry. Everyone was completely fine when we were getting bossed around by men but when a women is the one bossing traveler around suddenly she comes off as disrespectful, manipulative and making traveler do SOOOO much work? I’m sorry but how does this make any sense? Yae Miko didn’t even force traveler to do anything, if anything traveler obliged and didn’t complain until the word paycheck and expensive dinner. But he still gave in and Yae Miko just took advantage of that. Like Zhongli, Childe, Venti, Kaeya, etc.
Venti is given a pass because he was there and helping us in getting Dvalin under control. Zhongli was already retiring so him leading us along (and maybe sending Paimon that dream of sugar frosted slime) was a pass. But the real issue is respect. Venti Respects us and sees us as a Genuine Friend. Zhongli does so as well. Helps enough that his story quest clearly show the level of trust he has with us. Even Ayato who used us in his little scheme respects us as well. Yae Miko? The amount of disrespect showed our way is enough that I hope the next Yae story quest is Yae asking help from the traveler and us outright refusing her. Teach that she dog you don't disrespect some outlander who can look at your gods in the eye and not squirm.

i think you’re right that she’s starting to sound softer and less squeaky,, i hope genshin continues on that trend. Although there are still parts in this story quest where’s she’s too high pitched for comfort (can’t find the time stamp but when she’s scared in the domain while the traveler becomes the median part). There’s sometimes parts in this game where i specifically skipped her lines cause of how ear piercing she can be,, but she was much more tolerable here. And i know for a fact paimons voice has been a turn off for others playing this amazing game. i hope they scratch the high pitched paimon completely by the time we reach the dendro area

the final cutscene was really touching, even urakusai saying that they dont have much time left is just idk sad i guess? its very nice of yae miko to give them a feast before saying goodbye
I laughed so much at the beginning of this quest when everyone started talking about a “wishing ritual” and Paimon and the traveler are like “A wishing ritual…?! That’s impossible!” It was almost like Mihoyo was trying to tell everyone “there is no 5 star wishing ritual that actually works, it’s all luck of the draw,”… weather or not Wishing rituals actually work I personally don’t know but it sure felt like that’s what Mihoyo was trying to convince everyone of and I found the attempt amusing. Also…. Did anybody else take Xiao with them into the domain? After I finished it I noticed that Xiao’s reflection was…. Glowing… well his eyes, the teal in his hair, and his right arm was glowing while everything else was darkened. I took Xiao, Razor, Chongyun, and Barbara… and Xiao was the only one who’s reflection had this cool affect…. I’m curious if it did this with any of the other non-human characters or if it’s just a Xiao exclusive affect… it didn’t seem like a glitch…. Even if it is a Xiao only thing… I still want a mirror like it in the Serenitea Pot lol

I think the next chapter might be about the next area assuming this Story subplot continues. It will be interesting if this story "The miraculous adventures of the traveler is completed just as the main story of Gein shin ends and the game events and Quest is based on this "book" I am not sure if this will be considered a loop ending or a fourth wall break that the book written in the game is also the Game people play IRL or based on this fictitious book. That will be an interesting idea.
I'm not gunna lie. I really liked Yae Miko at the beginning. I liked her sly fox nature as that's how Kitsunes are in Japanese Mythology. But the ending of this quest left a sour taste in my mouth. The way she took blatant advantage of the traveler's kindness was like a slap to the face. I still like her but not nearly as much anymore.

I think you're being pretty unjust. The concept of seeing the traveller being possesed by a spirit with a totally new voice is so intriguing than the spirit having a cool aesthetic. In my opinion the former is way more entertaining and refreshing.

@@crewyard9917 I doubt it. Urakusai was a youkai and so far all of the supernatural beings in the game so far have had unique designs. Xiao is even considered as supernatural as an adeptus. Hoyo isn't the type to make a unique looking character for the sake of a unique character. There's also something called a budget that they put into the story and characters than worrying about NPCs looking the same. Other games also reuse NPC character models because it's cheaper and allows them to focus on what actually matters instead of NPCs who usually aren't important to the actual quest

And the whole game is about other character taking advantage of traveler *cough* *cough* Venti and Zhongli. The difference is Miko doesn't hide it.
Everyone was completely fine when we were getting bossed around by men but when a women is the one bossing traveler around suddenly she comes off as disrespectful, manipulative and making traveler do SOOOO much work? I’m sorry but how does this make any sense? Yae Miko didn’t even force traveler to do anything, if anything traveler obliged and didn’t complain until the word paycheck and expensive dinner. But he still gave in and Yae Miko just took advantage of that. Like Zhongli, Childe, Venti, Kaeya, etc.
Venti is given a pass because he was there and helping us in getting Dvalin under control.
Zhongli was already retiring so him leading us along (and maybe sending Paimon that dream of sugar frosted slime) was a pass.
But the real issue is respect. Venti Respects us and sees us as a Genuine Friend. Zhongli does so as well. Helps enough that his story quest clearly show the level of trust he has with us.
Even Ayato who used us in his little scheme respects us as well.
Yae Miko? The amount of disrespect showed our way is enough that I hope the next Yae story quest is Yae asking help from the traveler and us outright refusing her.

i think you’re right that she’s starting to sound softer and less squeaky,, i hope genshin continues on that trend. Although there are still parts in this story quest where’s she’s too high pitched for comfort (can’t find the time stamp but when she’s scared in the domain while the traveler becomes the median part). There’s sometimes parts in this game where i specifically skipped her lines cause of how ear piercing she can be,, but she was much more tolerable here. And i know for a fact paimons voice has been a turn off for others playing this amazing game. i hope they scratch the high pitched paimon completely by the time we reach the dendro area

Glowing… well his eyes, the teal in his hair, and his right arm was glowing while everything else was darkened. I took Xiao, Razor, Chongyun, and Barbara… and Xiao was the only one who’s reflection had this cool affect…. I’m curious if it did this with any of the other non-human characters or if it’s just a Xiao exclusive affect… it didn’t seem like a glitch…. I'm not gunna lie. I really liked Yae Miko at the beginning. I liked her sly fox nature as that's how Kitsunes are in Japanese Mythology. But the ending of this quest left a sour taste in my mouth. The way she took blatant advantage of the traveler's kindness was like a slap to the face. I still like her but not nearly as much anymore.
Well tbh i prefer Yae being this way cause it actually fits her character plus if they make Yae simp for the traveller like Ayaka and Keqing it will just feels weird u know 😂
