As someone thinking about getting back into bikes after a long hiatus (last ride was a 916), I genuinely appreciate your articulate and candid reviews. Your enthusiasm is clearly authentic and your conclusions are valuable for those of us who will be riding largely on the street. Re this most recent review, it is great to know that Ducati (much like Ferrari) have real quality control systems in place and the likelihood of critical parts literally falling off a bike within 20 minutes of taking delivery is minimal. In the 1990's, my 916 shed its shift mechanism on day one and then stranded me in a variety of inhospitable locations due to its infuriatingly weak voltage regulator, twice in West Virginia returning from Summit Point raceway. The good old days! Keep up the good work.
Great review. I was as amazed as you when I rode one. I managed a 5 hour ride while my 1299 was serviced. Got of with no aches and pains 😁. Like it so much I've traded my 1299 in for a supersport s s in red. Can't wait 😁😁
Duke, nice review. As the proud owner of a 2014 Honda VFR800 Deluxe (purchased gently used from MOD) I must comment that in my opinion Ducati has used the very successful, long production history and loyal following of the VFR as a design inspiration for the new Supersport. The specs on my 2014 VFR Deluxe are: torquey smooth, great sounding V4 VTEC engine, ABS, TC, heated grips, center stand, full dash layout with gear indicator, self canceling turn signals, LED lights, Hollow cast wheels, single swingarm, adjustable suspension, Pearl White paint. I've added a few mods as well, Honda factory quickshifter (up only), K&N air filter, Two Bros exhaust, shorty levers, tail tidy. Great bike & sweet handling!! The Supersport is very tempting and is spec'd very nicely Olins, up/down shifter, beautiful styling, etc & slightly more HP than VFR. I missed the Supersport demo registration at Coleman so I haven't ridden one yet, but by your gushing review I really need to get one one to see how it compares to the VFR. If you see a white VFR coming up fast in PWC that's probably me. Peace.
I own a 1997 VFR750 (previously I had a 1998 VFR800). I would like a sporty bike that is also capable of touring and it looks like Ducati hit the spot. I think you can get semi-rigid panniers as an option, which for a solo rider like me would be more than adequate for a few days away. Ducati have a hit on their hands here.
The SuperSport S is very tempting compared to my 2014 VFR Deluxe for several reasons. It has more HP & torque, lighter in weight, more electronics, up/down Q shifter & better suspension on the S model. But my VFR comes very close in those areas as well, plus it has the proven Honda quality, durability, pedigree and reasonable cost of ownership and I have the two color matched hard side cases for touring. I'm not so sure about the Ducati durability and cost of ownership. I'm getting over to my local Ducati dealer soon to check it out, but unless I get a really great trade deal on my VFR with low out of pocket, I'll probably stay on my VFR for now.
I would say that the performance figures and specs don't tell the whole story and the VFR is still a great bike. However, I am not sure whether there is any significant distinction between Honda and Ducati in terms of build quality anymore.
yes the LED strip does look really good but I don't like how the lights are kind of double stacked...it reminds me of the multistrada more than the panigale and I personally just don't think it looks good. Other than that, seems like an AMAZING bike.
I think it's the weirdness of looking at the Panigale for so long then seeing this. Im sure it will grow on everyone. It definitely looks better in person.
Dude, everything you said about this bike is right on. I bought mines last week and I love it. Commuting has never been more comfortable. My last bike was '08 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 and I can't go back to being hunched over in traffic. I need the Akrapovic exhaust so it will sound even better. Great review man!
Great review, as always Duke. I was at Coleman - FC on Saturday and rode their demo SuperSport. I really liked the bike! The QS was soooooo smooth. The ergonomics were perfect. My only concern was the power, or potential lack thereof. You could definitely feel the low end torque, but I wasn't able to get a sense of how it would perform on the highway. The damn demo ride course was predetermined. I know ~114 hp is more than I NEED, but with the numbers some modern bikes are putting out, I can't help but feel like I'd be overpaying. And though it was amazingly agile, it's definitely not a light bike. Decisions, decisions. Anyway, ride safe my friend.
Great review. The wind screen is adjustable FYI.... For anyone who is unsure about the looks you have to see it in person, It looks much better in person.
A quick visit to Ducati's site reveals very few differences comparing the Supersport S to Hyper SP. Same horsepower, front & rear sprockets, same 4.2 gallon capacity fuel, same warranty, valve check mileage, displacement and suspension. Differences - Hyper has higher compression ratio (13.1:1 and 12.6:1), Hyper has slightly more torque, S has quick shift, different clutches (slipper to wet multiplate), predictable difference in front and rear travel, S weighs 14 more pounds, Hyper seat height is 35" and S is 32"and Hyper has .8" longer wheelbase. Not to mention the ergos of the two bikes are much different and since the Hyperstrada is being discontinued (or so I've heard), the panniers one can buy for the S will likely offer the sport touring option in the lineup. Note that there is no Bosch lean angle tech on either bike. I was considering the Hyper SP, but now will be taking a closer look at the S. In spite of the price and the usual alternative choice fanboy whiners, I like the concept, looks, the intangibles and the Ducati growl, of course. Thanks for the review, Duke.
Nice review. I did a test ride on the Supersport and loved it too. I just dropped a deposit on the white Supersport S so it should be here in a few weeks as there are a few on the way to my local Ducati dealer. I think there is plenty of power for the street since the torque hits in the low rev range. The bike feels good and handles great. Nice and nimble. You can buy much faster bikes and better tourers too, but none of those have the combination of power, handling, ergos and good looks of the Supersport bike. It is just a great all around bike.
No, but the ZX-14R is has 200hp, but it weighs 130lb more than the Supersport. Plus, the ZX-14R is way uglier in my opinion. The ZX-14R might be more comfortable for longer trips, but I cannot be sure of that unless I ride it. For me, it is just too ugly and heavy to bother with. Plus, I hate green so Kawasaki is pretty much out of the question for me.
I am not a fan of the green either. The one I am looking at is a 2016 ZX14R SE it is all black. Take a look at it. I thought you might have road one if you have not thanks have a great day.
Have you ever road a ZX14R? I think that the Ducati supersport head lights, the fairings, the wheels and even the mirrors are real nice! but the cheap plexiglass looking windshield and whole tail end of the bike are hideous in my humble opinion.
Great meeting you Saturday as well man! Sorry to hear about your camera angle, but trial and error is the way to go! Plus having an excuse to ride this bike again is awesome haha
Looks like the next evolution of the Ducati SuperSport 1000 DS. Have not heard much in anyone's commentary on the old SuperSport vs the new breed. Nice description of the bike. Would be great to add it to the collection!
I just rode it on Sat 4/15/17 and I echo everything you said. I have had a Monster for the past 3.5 years, and never thought I would sell it. I am going to get the S as soon as I can get it worked out
Gotta say i had the same experience over this side of the pond. Took the supersport out at my local dealer about 3 weeks ago and was blown away by the fun part of this bike. I was due to be buying a 1200s monster, but this bike proved more fun. i pick up a supersport s in a couple of weekends time! i urge you to try a multistrada 950 though, think you might like that, i love mine
Same here, I already saw it on the "Intermot" and loved it for the seating postion and looks.Driven it and instatly bought it, hopefully arriving toady (having the phone right next to me waiting). It's a Bike that really comes to life in the real world, power delivery is just right, gearing is perfect, feels more powerful than you'd expect by the numbers. Öhlins doing great. And it looks and sounds much better n real life than on the pictures and vids.Drive safe, have fun!
i am convinced that this will be my first (not ridden) own bike. i saw a 2019 and 18 for a really good price, not sure what the differences are, and Urban mode eases my conscious. ive sat on the bike and it was the most comfortable bike ive ever sat on, and im so excited to get it!
That bike is a true beauty and your reaction tells it all. I've been looking for my next bike and was looking at an Indian scout and this one pretty much feel in love with this bike. It is stunning and seems like the perfect mix between a supersport and a naked which is perfect for me coming from a CBR 250 R I will definitely find time to visit a Ducati dealer near me
I went to a reveal party for this bike and I am in Love!!! This is a awesome machine for the everyday rider!! Great review!!! Going to buy this bike soon =)
I am surprised that you didn't comment on the mirrors. In the video, I could see that the left hand mirror was constantly vibrating (as it did on the one that I rode). I never was able to find an adjustment that gave a really good view of what was behind me--many places where another vehicle could hide behind me. Having previously owned a 1995 Ducati SS SP for almost 20 years (which had much worse visibility from the mirrors), this new Super Sport (to me) doesn't compare in terms of aesthetics, and on the old one you could remove the worthless mirrors and put on bar-ends or something else, but you can't hardly do that on this new one as the turn signals are mounted in the mirror housing. That may seem like nitpicking, but rearward visibility can make the difference between life and death.
I'm glad to see Ducati targeting the audience that wants sport performance with ergos that allow touring. That category bike hasn't existed on the market for 10 years or so, with sport "styled" tourable bikes very watered down since then. I have a '05 Honda CBR 600 F4i with fully adjustable suspension and close to 100 hp at the rear wheel, weights 385 (dry) and very comfortable... and very fast (150). This Duc and the Suzuki GSR S1000F from last year are picking up where the F4i left off. However, the Duc is around 100 hp on the dyno. The Suzuki is 130+... for much less money. Is the Duc worth it??
Dope review. You mentioned you can flat foot this bike? How tall are you? And if you've ever been on a triumph daytona 675. What's the height difference? Thanks!
I'm 5 foot 7 and the only bikes I have ever been able to flat foot or low crusiers when it was upright for the most part so would be great if I could flat foot this
Good review, I can feel the same vibrations in my soul since my last 1990 900SS. This could be my next mc. But I think there will be a 1200/160hp soon, a gap they will fill to.
Thank you for the review - what did you think about the vibrations? To me, it was uncomfortable for a tourer; especially in a "tucking along" RPM-range
Nice review!! would u thing that trading a 2017 s1000r for this Ducati is a good move? i've been following this Ducati for a few months and it looks like an awesome bike, good power, beautiful design and looks like a lot of fun! besides, 98% of the time I only commute.
Awesome video as always, test rode this bike over the weekend and it went above and beyond all my expectations. Now it'll be a hard decision between this and Triumph's new Street Triple 765 RS... Also just wondering how do you mount the GoPro securely on your Shoei, the footages are insanely good and not vibey at all...
Great review. Looks like a great bike. Had 2 Ducatis.. an 1198S (rolling BBQ) and a Multistrada. This could be he one .. any comments on seat heat and engine vibes? Also looking at a 2017 Tuono. yes different power specs but all round fun and everyday rideability? Thanks1
Nice review! the windscreen is adjustable though. you can pull it up when touring to get better wind coverage. it does make the front of the bike look even more like a multistrada though (kinda goofy). I ride a 959 panigale, and I don't think $750 is worth losing the panigale over. the supersport S version and panigale only differ by that much.
Does it have a full seat or split seat under the cover and would it be comfortable for 2 ? Am really liking this bike coming from liter bike no sure if I want to be riding and getting tired after 1 hr of riding feed back please 👍
Thanks for the in depth review bro. I was wondering if you've ridden any of the diavel models (of course they're totally different animals)... but I'd like to know how they compare, and why'd one chose this or that. Thanks again chief.
For me, this would be the bike over the 959. You can't beat the styling of the panigale but this bike would be so much more forgiving on a daily basis.
Nice, this bike intrigues me a lot. Seems like a really good proposal, a comfortable super bike! Do you think it somehow compares with the Aprilia Tuono? The Tuono is more powerful, but on the road do you think they are comparable? Cool video as usual!
Any input in a comparison to this and the Aprilia Tuono 1100 RR - same price but drastically different bang for the buck. I'm curious on your thoughts!
looking for my first bike man. i want something that i can’t get sick of. has traction control. and isn’t too much powers that i will feel uncomfortable for my first one. do you think this bike would fit a beginner?
Oh wow! I will say, I would still go with the Pikes Peak... Personally I adore that bike, even though I've only ridden it's younger, less race derived brother.
@@DukeOfDC Thanks for the reply! Main reason I'm leaning toward the Supersport S is the price and the fact I use to own an 1199 S before I had to sell it due to life priorities. Miss that bike as it was the Arctic White color...
I also live in the DC area & test rode last weekend. Share the same sentiments- best bike I've ever ridden. Would you buy a bike of this caliber to tear it up on DC streets though? Our roads are especially bad this year. I also don't have the time to drive out to Shenandoah like I used to, so it'd be strictly urban assault and highway. I know it's apples vs. oranges, but my competitor for this bike is the new KTM 390 Duke. Thoughts?
Glad you felt the same! Hmm, interesting question and two very different bikes. I do love the 390 as a concept. Are you doing a lot more city miles than anything else?
Yes, mostly city driving. Not gridlocked in U St traffic, but more stoplight to stoplight in Arlington. The KTM (indian production) reliability is what scares me. Forums are rife with horror stories.
I'm thinking about this vs the Tuono as my second bike next year. All my riding is in the canyons on tight switchbacks and curvy mountain roads, the only commuting I do is to the roads themselves. Which would you say suits that environment best, and which one do you think feels the most special? I should also add, my rides in the canyons are typically 3 hour stints with a brief 10 minute break in the middle, so I guess that should be factored into the equation too.
if you arent buying till next year then you have lots of time to test ride both bikes, presuming you can find somewhere close to you to test ride them. I own a 16 tuono factory and will be test riding the Supersport S in June when my dealer gets one. If its REALLL good then ill sell or trade the tuono in on one next year.
Ariel Caceres - I'd only give up the tuono if the supersport s really spoke to me and made me have to have one... sound, handling, power would have to be super special to give up the tuono. Tuono has an 18 litre tank and I get 180km to the tank, so 10km per litre. it also gets hot in traffic. neither of these bother me because it is a weekend toy i use on twisty roads.
Jono BNZ Interesting hearing from someone that rides the tuono after a supersport S testride. Please comment your thoughts here after or to me mathias.hakansson@gmail.com Would greatly appreciate it :)
Any chance you can have a spin on the 2017 Monster 1200 S? Also, how smooth was the quick-shifter down? My Duc's QS down is a half-stomp to get it to engage. o.O Great first impressions!
DukeOfDC Awesome! That's the bike I've got and I enjoy hearing other's impressions of the Monster. That sounds like it could be a smoother QS than mine. I jammed mine down once and it didn't shift; when I shifted down manually from that point it went between gears. That's how I learned Duc's like deliberate shifting. I'd been shifting so lazily on my previous Ninja 650R.
It's doable for a first rider but maybe a little much. If you want to start with a Ducati, maybe a Monster 696, 796 or even a 821 would be better and you'll not get bored with them anytime soon. I currently ride a 696 and been riding for years.
Now you know how the Honda VFR riders have been feeling for decades......Some one else has figured out the formula. I was going to get a new VFR800, I will be getting a SuperSport S in Red please. For years I made fun of those who only had two cylinders...LOL!!!
Have you ever ridden the KTM super duke r? I know they're two different kinds if bikes, but if the two which is more comfortable? From what I've seen power nor torque is an issue with either so it all comes down to comfort.
You should watch my other videos ;) I own a super duke and adore it. I would say strictly from a seating position the bike is better, but the SuperSport has superior wind protection at speed.
+DukeOfDC Oh okay, this is the first video I've seen from your channel so I didn't know haha. I'm going to check those out. I've rode ATVs for a few years but now looking for a little more excitement lol. A lot people keep saying get something like a Honda Rebel to "start" on, but that kinda defeats the purpose of excitement. So I'm looking for a sport-style bike that's plenty fast, easy-ish to handle, but doesn't break your back or bank to ride lol. I think the KTM pretty much fits the bill for me. I'll definitely be checking out those videos though, thanks
can you do a review video of the kawasaki ninja zx-6r and compare it to this bike? I use to be super anti ducati, but this is the first one that has actually turned my head... that exhaust...
Would this be a good track day bike for an experienced sportster rider or would it be better to go ahead and get the panigale for a dedicated track day bike?
I think this would be good, but the panigale would be great on a track. That being said, if you planned to ride a fair amount off track, you'd be begging for this bike.
Good 'ole Battley. I remember riding a Monster our of that lot that one of the mechanics claimed Mike Tyson owned. Good times. I wonder how my '14 VFR800 would stack up against the SS on the fundamentals.
So between the Ducati and the currently unavailable 1290SD which one for a daily commuter and weekend back road blaster. say 50/50. I can only have one bike so ???
The Super Duke is so next level lol. I think I would have to choose it, although it would be a close choice. That being said, you're talking about a $4k difference in price.
Hopefully you have learned in the past several months that Ducati does make several models that have 4 cylinder engines. Panigale V4, Panigale V4S, Panigale V4R, Panigale V4 25th Anniversary Edition, Streetfighter V4, Streetfighter V4S, and of course, the Superleggerra V4.
Can someone help me, I'm a 21 year old male. I'm planning on buying this bike but I don't think any insurance will accept me, and if they do I feel like it's going to be crazy expensive. Any tips for an Ontario rider?
Wow. Just when i thought when i couldnt choose between the s1000R & the 959 as my next you come up with this. Thanks buddy ! Best fckin dilemma in the world. So comfort is no contest i get that. This one's a lot more comfortable than the 959 and thats no surprise considering the 959 is a panigale. How would you compare them on nimbleness though ? At 450 pounds (~ 205 kg i think) doesnt that make it heavier than the 959 ? Does it feel that way ? FUCK ! decisions decisions. Also i come from HOT HUMID sub-tropical India where there is no concept of open roads. ONLY TRAFFIC. So i really need to properly consider which bike toasts my balls the least. Having said that i only intend to be a weekend early morning rider so hopefully less relevant. Anyway fantastic video man !
So, I have a deposit on one of these...the "S" model. Our dealer here in SoCal, San Diego has just received their first one, and it is for Demo. I have to say I love the looks and the idea of the more relaxed riding position is very interesting to me. I am one of the old guys ready to move from sports bikes people. I personally think it looks great, at the Italian Motorcycle show "EICMA" it was even voted best looking new motorcycle for 2017, and the Italians have a great sense of style. Really itching to ride one, I have only sat on one at the Long Beach Motorcycle show.....your review furthers my inclination to get this thing!

Man have to say dude ur content is really good ,love these first rides and really love the s1000rr series, keep it up man
Thank you my friend!
LOL dude, well thank you for the positive vibes :)
DukeOfDC how much would the price of this bike be?
Surv1vor614 GamingTech g
+Surv1vors GamingTech....@ my local dealer they are $14,995/S model in white...$14,795/S model in red and $12,995/non-S model

hows the super sport S on long highway rides? wind and stability

Duke,
Good review as always. I love how, as the video goes on, you become more "smitten". Pure honest emotion while riding!
:D Glad you enjoyed it my friend!
I test rode this bike and fell in love. I have an FZ09 and sometimes getting beat up by the wind gets old. I have to get this bike.
I just test rode one and also ride an fz09 and I wanted to trade my bike in that day haha
WOW ! duke one of the best bikes you've ever had the pleasure of riding on that's a helluva statement I'm going to have to check this bike out
It was a huge surprise man!
Have you ever road a ZX14R? and if so what do you think would be better as a street bike?
Great review as always man...that bike seems like it could be a real winner. Just wish the headlights looked a little better...
The LED is amazing!
yes the LED strip does look really good but I don't like how the lights are kind of double stacked...it reminds me of the multistrada more than the panigale and I personally just don't think it looks good. Other than that, seems like an AMAZING bike.
unibrow power! lool
try looking at one without the mirrors...it's even worse! that screen situation doesn't do it for me :/
I think it's the weirdness of looking at the Panigale for so long then seeing this. Im sure it will grow on everyone. It definitely looks better in person.
Lol! Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the screen either, but after market may help there.

The screen is adjustable. Just pull it up to get it raised.

you sum it up well. price and weight are high, power is a bit low. Will be test riding it before making any conclusions tho...
Great review. The wind screen is adjustable FYI.... For anyone who is unsure about the looks you have to see it in person, It looks much better in person.
Thanks! A few others caught me on this as well. I agree it looks much better in person
But is the power enough ? If it was similar to the hypermotard I would think yes, but its tuned down from that kind of power I heard.

Dang DukeOfDC! You got yours up before I could get mine up. My camera angle was all wrong from my chest mount so I'll have to ride it again. FUN!
Great meeting you Saturday as well man! Sorry to hear about your camera angle, but trial and error is the way to go! Plus having an excuse to ride this bike again is awesome haha
Great video. This bike wasn’t even on my radar, then I sat on it and man was it comfortable. Trying to decide on this or a triumph speed triple rs.
Greetings from Turkey. Keep posting quality videos like this! Have a nice day!
Great Video! Also, I must say, the bike looks MUCH MUCH better in person than in the videos or photos!
Yes it does!
Looks like the next evolution of the Ducati SuperSport 1000 DS. Have not heard much in anyone's commentary on the old SuperSport vs the new breed. Nice description of the bike. Would be great to add it to the collection!
I’ve owned my SSS for over 2 years now and love it
Update : it’s now 3 years and I still love it. Only done 7k miles as it’s my 2nd bike (F850GS being my main ride).
Lol its so weird seeing familiar roads on youtube, and you road an Fz6, good stuff! Good review, definitely earned my sub!
:D Thanks for subscribing my friend!
Always look forward to seeing your perspective brother!! (Sam sold me my 1098 Streetfighter haha!). Small word man! Keep dropping informative reviews
Thank you kind sir! Lol, small world indeed!
i am convinced that this will be my first (not ridden) own bike. i saw a 2019 and 18 for a really good price, not sure what the differences are, and Urban mode eases my conscious. ive sat on the bike and it was the most comfortable bike ive ever sat on, and im so excited to get it!
I left the dealership yesterday after seeing this bike for the first time. I was going bananas!
That bike reminds me of the Suzuk SV650S. Similar idea, sporty but comfortable, semi fairing, etc. I can really see myself with this bike.
It's been a long time since I wanted something this much. Can't wait to test drive (and hopefully end up buying) one.
Also, nice review! Kinda forgot about that when the bike stole the show ;)
+Vinclario haha well in glad the bike could steal the show and good luck getting on one!
I test drove this and the Ducati Monster 821 today. I loved them both. But I think I might buy this beauty.
Thanks!
JPDOUGH my friend 5'7" and he can flatfoot my ss
I don't believe anyone 5' 7" can flat foot BOTH feet with the bike upright, photos or it didn't happen
To me, it was uncomfortable for a tourer; especially in a "tucking along" RPM-range
super dope video! im getting my moto liscence just for this bike!
Did you experience excessive mirror vibration that would make the mirrors useless?
+orbea4 I did in very particular parts of the rev range, but overall it wasn't as bad as my super duke
Very hard decision, but a good problem to have! I mount it to my chin and my head naturally acts as a stabilizer to clean up any vibes
Thanks again chief.
comes with optional heated grips too
I have a deposit down on one. Can't wait to test ride one now!
Woo!! That's dope man. I hope the test ride is amazing
Thanks! Great video!
Windshield can be adjusted btw. You said it cant. Would be nice some opened aftermarket exhaust.
Hey Duke! Great reviews man, been really helpful. One question, would you get this or the 959? Thanks in advance.
It's very different from the Tuono. The SuperSport is totally more comfortable and more nimble in my opinion
You'd recommend it then!
Agreed an excellent bit of kit. Ticks alot of boxes. I'd take one.
this a good first bike? ive been on dirtbikes as far back as i could remember but making my way to street this spring
Nice review, had the same feeling when i drove it
I really wish more people would do the Base model.
I love that v-twin sound.
I think Ducati is gonna sell a lot of these- and probably on to me as well!
I think so too!
Definitely to me too
Oh, and a PS....the windshield is adjustable with some limited degree of vertical movement. I don't know if the one you rode was down or up?
Nice review! I'm leaning more towards this as opposed to a Multistrada Pikes Peak. Not to mention the "S" model is nearly half the price!
Those are pretty cool, but I think it will only look good... until you park it next to a Panigale 959.
But then the 959 owner will be parking his bike many hours earlier than the SuperSport due to cramps XD
Haha! Too true, maybe that's why Ducati made the Panigales so beautiful... so you can park it and ogle it's beauty.
Hahaha great point, and possibly so.
She's beautiful in white with these red wheels... Like the seat cowl, too.
+Donnie Desmo great bike
Just curious if you have road the MV agusta F3 675, and your thoughts on it? Torn between the two, and they are similar prices. Thanks.
How was the heat the bike was putting out? Say compared to a Panigale or their other superbikes?
Hey Duke, how to you compare this with the Aprillia Tuono v4 Factory you tested before?
Have you ridden the multi 950? trying to decide between this and that one for light touring in the mountains
Now for my big question....Touno or SuperSport?
Very nice; I enjoyed the review. You gonna pick one up?
Any reason in particular you're considering giving up the tuono? How bad really is the fuel economy btw?
Torque house - will do. late June till we see them in nz tho... which is winter as well but hopefully we get some good weather days for a test ride
Nice review, I've just got myself the S in red here in the UK, what a great machine. Subbed you 👍
Would like to know the comparison to the Panigale.
just jumped on the subscriber list, have you checked out the new street triple?
Any chance you can have a spin on the 2017 Monster 1200 S? Also, how smooth was the quick-shifter down? My Duc's QS down is a half-stomp to get it to engage. o.O Great first impressions!
I can try! The shifter down was nice. Not the smoothest I've used, but got the job done
Could this be a first bike over something like an R6? Im not gonna get a 300 or anything like that.
It's doable for a first rider but maybe a little much. If you want to start with a Ducati, maybe a Monster 696, 796 or even a 821 would be better and you'll not get bored with them anytime soon. I currently ride a 696 and been riding for years.
Would you say the riding position is similar to the BMW S1000R ? (if you've ever been on one)
I'm looking at getting this bike but I'm a bit disappointed in the display. I'd like a full color display that some bikes have now.
S1000R or Ducati Supersport S, which one would you buy for a daily commute? Especially for crowded urban traffic?
S1000R
Which one would u pick between monster 1200 r and this super sport s? Commuting, twisties, every day use in conclusion
Hmmm, The Monster for sure.
thanks for the answer dude! love your videos btw, they're the reason why i purchased a Tuono 1100 factory and an rsv4 RR :D
DukeOFDC is it more comfortable than your KTM 1290 Super Duke R?
No, but close.
Is it comfortable?
How was the heat on this thing? The panigale is just unbearable for me, so curious!
+shahed saffari this was actually significantly less hot than the Panigale
can you do a review video of the kawasaki ninja zx-6r and compare it to this bike? I use to be super anti ducati, but this is the first one that has actually turned my head... that exhaust...
Can u post a shot of how thick a neck you have to be immune to the windblast.
Would this be a good track day bike for an experienced sportster rider or would it be better to go ahead and get the panigale for a dedicated track day bike?
I think this would be good, but the panigale would be great on a track. That being said, if you planned to ride a fair amount off track, you'd be begging for this bike.
It would be a dedicated track bike.
How old do u need to be to ride a bike like this/what type of licence would u need?
Good 'ole Battley. I remember riding a Monster our of that lot that one of the mechanics claimed Mike Tyson owned. Good times. I wonder how my '14 VFR800 would stack up against the SS on the fundamentals.
+Stephen Mears interesting battle
I am on the edge of buying this I want to know if you think I would get bored of this with the power
I doubt you would, and if you did then you were probably still not using the bike to it's full potential in the bends
Does this bike's heat similar to S1000RR, I mean what you feel on your legs?
No, much cooler than s1000rr
So between the Ducati and the currently unavailable 1290SD which one for a daily commuter and weekend back road blaster. say 50/50.
I can only have one bike so ???
The Super Duke is so next level lol. I think I would have to choose it, although it would be a close choice. That being said, you're talking about a $4k difference in price.
Yea but that KTM look. I won't remember the money. Just the ride, so.
Which one for longer rides. Thanks btw. subbed !
why ducati dont make 4 cylinder motorbikes? any particular reason?
I mean i love the bike but missing that 4 cylinder sound
Hopefully you have learned in the past several months that Ducati does make several models that have 4 cylinder engines. Panigale V4, Panigale V4S, Panigale V4R, Panigale V4 25th Anniversary Edition, Streetfighter V4, Streetfighter V4S, and of course, the Superleggerra V4.
Can someone help me, I'm a 21 year old male. I'm planning on buying this bike but I don't think any insurance will accept me, and if they do I feel like it's going to be crazy expensive. Any tips for an Ontario rider?
Any issues with excessive engine heat?
Congrats on the deposit, and I can almost guarantee that once you get a test ride on it you'll be completely sold. Really mega bike.
How tall are you? And can you flatfoot both feet at the same time with the bike upright at a stop?
I'm 5'9 30" inseam. I was able to flatfoot this with the boots I had on.
Can you ride with just the day time running lights or is one of the headlights always on when you ride ?
+Louie not sure
also any fix for those vibrating mirrors ?
Hmmm, not sure. Maybe heavier mirrors?
I wonder what if you fit these raised clip-ons on the 959?
+Giannis Nikolinakos I hear they're gonna have options for the super sport
You'd probably hit the windscreen.
