Hey Chase 2 questions. Where did u get your GoPro hero session cover and which revit jacket model are you wearing?
This is the Rev'it Jacket: bit.ly/2iNwOJY So far it's the only jacket I have that can handle this Ga heat. For the Hero Session I'll drop ya a link. Just something cool I found on Amazon: amzn.to/2pG0FvI
chaseontwowheels I want a link on your GoPro hero case. The red one
chaseontwowheels which pants are you using? Do they have armor?
Joseph Johnson this comment was writen just for Chase to spam an advertisement.... fake
Stop lugging the bike at low RPM and you won't get the big vibrations. You've ridden Ducatis before. You should know they don't like going under 3,500 RPM by now.
See the thing about this bike, in pictures and videos it looks okay, but in the flesh it is an absolute STUNNER!
Red Trelli's frame on the red bike isnt that nice , the red trelli's on a white bike is amzin though
would this bike be considered a touring or sport for insurance and plate in canada ?
Ii agree, I own on and it is far more beautiful in person. Definitely glad I went with white.
Just bought the S version of this bike 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love it.
I bought monster 2 months ago can u tell me how ur bike doing on highway did u get pushed by wind ? On highways have u done more then 105 miles speed?
I just went in and took a look at it. It looks and feels amazing going to see about buying one for my birthday in june
@@ToastyClam how'd it go
Is the paint clear coated
Carter retraC Well my mother lost her job so I’m paying her rent now. Decided to postpone buying a bike.
ILL BE WITH YOU TOO BROTHER IN A MONTH!!! can't wait to get the bike!!
you know a bike is good when in the beginning of review. he didn't like it and after ridding it. he gives it the highest score. must buy for me. the supersport S though.
This bike is exactly the same concept as my bike, a Kawasaki ZZR600. The ZZR has the same engine from a ZX-6R, but tuned for more power down low. The seat height is raised and the handlebars are raised clip-ons, giving a more upright and comfortable riding position. Fairings are almost exactly the same, but insurance classifies the ZZRs as sport touring so insurance is also cheaper.
These styles of bikes are truly amazing. You get the long distance comfort of a tourer with the size and style of a super sport, with the power of a naked bike. Absolute perfection. Good on Ducati for trying to bring these beasts back.
William Briscoe Supersport is also classified as sport touring atleast in sweden so low insurance for being a ducati. Close to the monster insurance actually.
Nice bike for sure, Kinda like the Ninja 1000
Not a sports tourer. Lovely, but not a tourer.
Test rode it today. I liked it. I didn't feel like I was going to stall it. Only needed second and third on back roads. It shook quite a bit at higher rpms. But the dealer says it smoothes out again around 7000. Handled nice. Comfy which was the point.
Supersport is a racing class below Superbike. Supersports are closer to stock bikes. Superbikes are heavily modified versions of stock bikes. MotoGp are one off, non-production bikes.
What this bike is about is giving buyers something less than a race bike, but it has a race look, full fairings. This is like a monster with fairings. The passenger seat is lower than a pangale, the handlebars are higher, the footpegs are lower and further forward. This reminds me of my monster, which has clipons. The power is also like a monster and not like the pangale. This is for someone who wants to enjoy the bike on a the street and be able to do long sporty rides without the fatigue of being stretched out on the pangale.
IraceTV ......and enjoy I do.
IraceTV exactly
I just bought a 2017 Ducati 939 in 99% new condition with 2159km on it. in my opinion its one of the nicest looking bikes I've ever seen in my life. every time I look at it I'm in love. I love the look of the double pipe that you don't seem to like. the one sided swing arm. the red fairings. it just looks so sweet from every angle. and riding it is a joy. I love the stability and the way it holds lines. if I was going to point out any negatives. the engine runs hot. at 1000 and 2000 rpm the bike isn't happy. once it gets to 3000 its a happy camper. and it has to be finessed to get the bike into neutral. if you are stopped it is more difficult. if you are coming to a stop it is allot easier. and the mirrors vibrate. but I don't plan on changing them. when I look at your video it doesn't give the look of this bike justice. I don't know if its your camera, or that your shooting in the bright sun. but it just looks so much nicer in person. and the pictures I have of my bike that I got from the person I bought it from look really sweet. and even though my bike is not the S model it has the back seat fairing. which makes it look nicer. I'm not sure if there were any changes between 2017 and my 2019 or not. but I am really in love with my bike.
The shaking at lower RPMs, power surge in 1st & 2nd, heavy engine braking, etc........that's all Ducati character and being a twin vs an in-line four (and also shows the Supersport is a Monster/Hypermotard cousin and not a Panigale cousin). As a Monster 1100EVO owner, once you realize that's part of the package and learn the bike you really enjoy it. Engages you as a rider not to be lazy on downshifts, energizes you on normal roads, plus makes that L-twin engine sing (especially with upgraded pipes). Probably not for everyone but makes this brand different. This bike in S trim is next on my demo list. PS - recognize that demo route myself ATL brother...
Agreed. It was annoying to hear him constantly complain about 'shaking' when he says he doesn't ride many Ducati bikes. That means he is not qualified to make a review. Lugging the motor is not the same as shaking. Hopefully he learned that for future reviews.
Some people think this bike is a miss for Ducati, but from the reviews I see coming out it seems to be a really good bike.
The name SuperSport is a throwback to the SS series Ducati did in the late 20th century, which was along the same lines as this as far as target demographic and intended use goes. Which is why it bears the name. #staywoke
You are exactly right. And those were cool bikes!
😂 'The late 20th century!'
Shee-it I remember them coming out - fav bike of all time the '73 blue/silver with bevel cam gears... you're probably thinking of the '90 red one, also awesome for it's day, though prone to carbs icing up in winter and chain adjuster bolts buckling under the torque!
I probably watched this video ten times before I bought my SuperSport.
I love love LOVE this bike! Over 1100 miles and counting over a six week period.
One thing to note: insurance for this bike is NOT cheap right now. I'm paying well over double what I was for my '15 Monster 821, even though it's essentially the same bike with fairings and a bored-out engine.
2022 Edit: Insurance is much, much more reasonable now. Don't let insurance prices be a deterrent anymore.
The insurance for the panigale V2 is double what it is for the Supersport. I'm curious though are you like one of those goofy guys on RUclips trying to turn the Super Sport into some touring Bike by putting the panniers and handlebar risers on it?
@@JS-fb6ww Nope, I rode it more like a sport bike.
At the time back in '17 when it was new on the market (and when that comment was posted), insurance was stupid for them. Rates eventually got very affordable.
That bike was lovely. All day comfort and not too expensive to run (for a Duc) I've done a few 300+ mile rides on it and it was always super comfortable. It absolutely loved to cruise at 105 MPH all day. However rear tires wore fairly quick, so I ultimately made a trailer so I can haul it around whenever I want to go somewhere fun. Every mile is precious on a Duc, I didn't want to rack up a ton of miles of otherwise boring highway miles before the Desmo service. It just didn't seem worth it.
I traded it in a year ago for a Streetfighter V4. While I do not regret the move, I still love and miss my Supersport. I wish I could have kept both.
I own a 2002 Ducati Sport 750. I am in the market for a second bike and had been torn between the monsters, the Panigale 959 and the new supersport. Because of Chase's rider review of the 2017 Ducati SS I now know what I want to buy. Thanks Chase!
It's actually great that you cover the regular as other vloggers are wanting to cover the S model with it's automatically included DQS (Ducati Quick Shiffter). I hope it's not too expensive to add a DQS to the regular model which would make it affordable to the masses without getting all of the rest that makes the bike cost out of range for most people.
Hi Chase. Just started watching a lot of your first rides this past month and appreciate them. Good job! I feel like most are missing something that would make them more well rounded though. I’d like to see a decent amount of “third person” footage to get a better idea of how the bikes look rolling down the pavement. Thanks for your time and efforts Chase!
Thanks for the support man, Ive recently started using a follow car to get more 3rd person perspective.
Thanks Chase! I was thinking of one of these and searched for the model... found a few reviews and then saw you had one!! You're opinion is worth 100x more than payed moto journalist. Give us the GOOD and THE BAD as always.
"The bike hits a perfect median" Yeah just like that taxi you hit XD
(Just a joke please don't get triggered people)
LMAAOO
Achyuth Tonpe shots fired lol
Achyuth Tonpe jheez wasn't expecting that. Just some banter tho
Achyuth Tonpe rip panigale
You should try the VFR out.
chase...i purchased a red supersport s in december and have loved it immensely. i am 6’ - 3” with a 34 inseam and i find that the leg position is not cramped a all. in fact i think it is the most comparable of all the bikes i have ever had, three cbr600rr’s and two yamaha fz’s. this has the perfect leg position, at least for me. and it does not like being driven under 3000 rpm but after that it is so smooth. and i disagree with you on the dash. i love it and find it to be a great design. love your reviews but had to disagree on a few things you mentioned since i have had some time to check mine out. keep up the great job.
Do you have any issue whit the bike ? im looking too buy one next year ?
Kevin Boulay it’s a nice bike..go for it
kevin...sorry for the delay in responding. no issues at all. i love this bike so much. i keep forgetting i have a quickshifter. what a treat. all in all of all the bikes i’ve had this one is the most incredible. i am a casual rider.
I'm not sure why you haven't gotten around to ride a BMW R1200GS yet. BMW's are rare sight on your channel.
I have been saying that Yamaha needs to put the fz09 motor in an r6 frame, that's what this Ducati reminds me of
i just test rode this model today. The vibration of it is terrible, you can't even see anything from the mirrors from it. But it leans pretty nice.
Your comments on the fairing placement are exactly what I'd want to know. Keep up the great work! I love your videos.
yay you really doing new Duc SS!!
wait.. what?! i didnt know that this bike exists, and i fell in love with her :D
Thanks for taking the time to detail what you liked and didn't like. Very helpful!
thanks Chase i waited a lot for it
it's good to see you getting more and more professional with your vlog Chase !
Deffnatly wish I could like this 2.99999999 million times
Yeah the Multistrada 950, the Hypermotard and the Supersport share the same engine. The front suspension is also fully adjustable so with a little bit a playing around you can fix those squatting issues you had.
I do t know why but I have been like watching your jackets the whole time for the past 2 videos idk what it is but I love the jackets
monster with full fairing
Happy to know about the low end power, it's the type of bike that I like, exactly like my old Ducati supersport from 2002.
I saw this one at MOTOGP in Austin. I am glad you did a review on it.
absolutely love the direction
I so want one of these.
Cmon chase ! Its a monster with fairings
I feel like the "stalling" issue can easily be fixed by setting the idle +500rpm on the ecu.
I think he can tell why I like my Monster 821. Yeah, this is basically a Monster with fairings. But I want to try it because the wind break, up/down quickshift, and Ohlins on the S version would all be nice improvements on my Monster. There are local ones available to demo, will see...
I'm glad you are reviewing this bike. I test rode it and loved it. I hope to make it mine one day.
That looks like a monster with fairing to me
was waiting for this since the Instagram post. I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS CHASE.
Ducati is my favourite since my childhood
my top 5 favorite brands are
1.yamaha
2.bmw
3.ktm
4.ducati
5.triumph
Triumph
Aprilia
Ducati
Kawasaki
KTM
My top 5
Im with @Zalonka. Just switch Aprilia and Triuph lol
youre list dosnt fit at all
ajs olsson i forgot about that. think i will change my list.
Supposed to be a Monster frame and setup. With Fairings and clip-ons. Probably the steering and tank is why they feel so close...usually Monster has MX style bars and longer length.
Try not to crash this one.
if he rides like he repairs, you won't wait too long ;-)
That Hero 4 housing! 😱
i like the White one..its a shame over here in Puerto Rico there was a Ducati dealer..bummer!!
12:21 you talk about the suspension. If I buy this bike, I would buy the S model.
Yes! More Highway Runs!
Hey Chase
Can you do a first ride on MV Agusta Brutale or Dragster?
Sounds like Ducati hit the nail on the head.. Struck a perfect balance
Chase, I watch all your first rides. This one was the second best one you've done. First being the XSR900, but I may be partial. Anyway, just wanted to say great job especially on this one.
Chase can you do more honda bikes like the nc700 and the Cbr650f and maybe the nm4
How about a VFR? The bike the Supersport is competing with...
As long as it's not an automatic.... God forbid....
Or a Honda CB1000R. It is classified more as a "naked" bike but it is also a detuned 1000cc motorcycle with a more comfortable riding position and usable street power.
Is $12,000 a "low price point" for bikes now? Maybe Im just poor
Ted Sarmiento for what you're getting, $12k is "low"
Used bike market is where it's at
Hi Chase. Just a quick question on a old video 😂. Did Ducati ever give you an answer to why it feels like you are going to stall on pull-away? I suffer with the same issue and was wondering if it is a setup issue or is that just the way it is?
buying the 2022 ducati ss 950s for my first bike in the upcoming spring
if you like the supersport try out the Kawasaki z1000sx very much the same style sport touring. I was looking at both of those bikes and decided on the Kawasaki!
alex toon I have a 2015 Ninja 1000. I don't think you will regret your choice at all!
That is a beautiful bike.❤️
The SuperSport is exactly what you thought - Hypermotard engine inside a Monster frame with Panigale fairing thrown around.
God, i want one of this. One S version in white for me, please.
Chase, nice review I think you like this Ducati 😉.. I do I've just got the S version for delivery on Saturday.
Update 3 years on I still have the S version and love it.
The S model is sweet
Looks kinda like a throwback to me. Lots of smooth corners as opposed to modern sharp angles.
could you please start doing like mini tests on the bikes such as rating it out of 10 for things e.g. handling, comfort etc... love this vids so much!
chase love the videos bro I am a new supporter but I have watched every video from now back to 2016 and i loved them have a great day
Absolute stunner
am with you on that. I don't know why they call it support!!
"A nimble fat kid" 😂
my girlfriends heights roughly 170cm , im 186cm, we both reach the ground with both feet and its really comfy for our legs :D
Its just an easy driven, natural and beautyful bike i love it!
at least they redesigned the tank. I had a SS 750, with a stupid point going into my tummy.
and I did stall my ss750 lol
It does seem like the perfect combo between a monster and a panigale. Personally, I would prefer the monster 1200 at a significant price increase.
I like the look of this bike, idk if I could keep those mirrors with that shake though.
I've been looking for this video since they announced the supersport! Thanks dude!
Please do one more!!!!2020 version
Next Bike Request - 2017 Kawasaki z900
What do you mean by everything is shaking when you give it gas? Are you saying that like it's a very bad thing?
Chase try the S version you would like it even more
Chase, may I suggest you blur the speedometer while doing "spirited test rides". I'm just saying...
Very good analogy
A monster with a fairing, 😎.
I felt ya on Italian electronics bro. Took me a bit too get used to how to change stuff.
2:46 into the video I thought he was gunna bin another Ducati into a curb 😂
YAAAY ThANK YOU CHASE :D:D:D BUT Chase I know you love white with red frame and wheels so you have to try the Supersport S version, comes with Öhlins stiffer suspension and quickshift up and down.
I love your editing ;D always on point. Nice vid man!
5 out of 5? man i wasnt sure I would see the day. Good vids man! Cant wait to see some wedding videos!
Lets see the 2017 R6
only 720p......... I love your 1440p vids
Hey Chase, If you could can you review the MT-07 Tracer (FZ07 tracer/ Tracer 700) please mate. Love your reviews
The "Ducati Supersport" name goes back to 1973. It's a historical name for this style of bike. They didn't just pull that name out of thin air. Bikes like the R6 are also considered Race Replica, not just a supersport.
They are not complicated... they are sophisticated, like Mario and Luigi. Thats the italian life.
love the sound track
looks like a panigale and a monster combined never the less an awesome bike
great video chase I really wanna have the chance to ride this monster with fairings.
I feel like this bike wants to be a direct competitor to the Honda VFR800. I own a VFR750 and love it, highway, speed, city, not trouble from the wind, nice torque downlow from the V4 engine all the way to around 8000/9000 (rev limit 11000). I have sat on the supersport at a show and the seating postion reminded me alot of the VFR.
Maybe do a test of a VFR800 and try and compare it? ( I have to say i have not ridden the newer models VFR, I own the last 750 model, but they seem to be very good)
It kinda doesn't look like a Ducati tbh, it seems to be missing that attention to detail that most Italian bikes have, looks a bit cheap compared to other ducatis
Twins naturally vibrate, unless it's a crossplane. Great insights, the dash is ugly imo, but rider position is more friendly than a typical Duke, and therefore easier to handle at slow speeds.
Z900 review pleeez? Awesome review of the super Sport!
Am I the only one who just watches the bikes on the highway and then done?
Your videos are awesome. Really good for researching
It reminds you of the monster frame because it is the monster frame ;)
@chaseontwowheels the handle bars looks like Honda VFR800. I think it is a sport touring bike
