The problem with Toys R Us is the same problem Pier One Imports and Bed, Bath and Beyond faced. They chose to spec into a specific niche market while not keeping pace with changes in the retail industry. Walmart, Target, and Costco all have their own e-commerce platforms for example. TRU refused to develop their own platform and paid Amazon for access to their storefront while being fully aware that by then, Amazon was already dealing in toys, video games, toddler and baby products. Literally, they stagnated.
I had a friend who 20yrs ago was doing ToysRUs scams to the max! I guess he got away with it since they never got him and the store franchise closed in the u.s.

Live in a small town? get left out. No Pokemon promo for you, gotta goto the next town for that sold out beanue baby. Gotta get a raincheck for that n64. Internet age gives those promotions out more fairly, at the cost of the space itself. Going to a computer sucks, in person is ore than just shopping, its an experience. but the products coming to you are much more fluid. Almost feels like Phone Booths va Cell Phones.
