So glad you touched on the store being outdated. When they closed I was telling a buddy of mine that the stores have looked the same for well over 20 years at that point. The website wasn’t much better either.
That clip at 9:22 cracks me up so much. I always loved that realistic Geoffrey they went with in the early 00s.
Yeah, I always loved Jim Hanks' Geoffrey.
Great job again
You did an amazing job again! I'd love to see your take on Pier 1 Imports, Sears, JCPenney, Radio Shack, Lord & Taylor and the list goes on!
Pier 1 is a definite future episode, so is Radio Shack and L&T. I want to wait on JC and Sears just to see where they go (if not just for a little longer to write it LOL) Thanks for much for the positive feedback! ❤
When I was a kid my aunt took me to Toys R Us every year for my birthday and let me pick out my present.
Another top flight job. Loved the insertion of the video footage.
I found your channel through Cinemassacre in their final Rental Reviews video. Once they showed your clip about Blockbuster, I immediately looked you up and subscribed! Your channel rules! Keep it up
Thanks so much!! New video coming soon...
As a child in the 60s I visited one of the original 4 Toys-R-Us stores in College Park, MD. Nothing glitzy like the later stores, just Home Depot style steel racks filled with toys. A few years later they opened their first Baltimore store about 10 minutes from my home, still the original steel-rack style. Still my favorite iteration of Toys-R-Us.
I can't wait for your twitch comeback!
Me too! I've been considering streaming an editing marathon of some kind.
I visited that NYC store and had been to FAO Swartz.. used to work around the corner, both were amazing stores.
My kingdom for just another 15 mins back in time at the toys r us …
From when I was a little kid to when they closed in my 40s the only time the location was remodeled or even painted was after it closed cause the next store did the work.
Love your videos, new subscriber to your channel
I think a smart move would have been combining toys r us and babies r us in one location. Go in for baby stuff and let your other kids get something. Instead they kept the 2 stores about 3 blocks away from each other on the same major road by me.
I agree. Make it one big destination. Could’ve converted KB Toys to Toys R Us Express. However, they only could’ve made that work if they avoided Amazon and Bain.
toys r us is back
They’ve been “back” a few times. I’ll believe it once I see a store open near me.
Did kb toys or toy r us go out first?
KB went out in 2009, then all remaining assets were sold to TRU.
