I really appreciate your channel. You’re the only prepper that I still watch. I was having bad anxiety and a lot of prepping channels was telling me buy more, stock up, better get more food. Good stuff, I have been doing these as well. Doing these walks is a great learning experience. Take a drink of water every 15 minutes while walking. That's the second thing they beat into our head at bootcamp.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for talking about the dangers of drinking water contaminated by agricultural chemicals. One of my friends nearly died when he drank from a ditch near a farm field. The hollow fiber filter he used did not protect him, and to be fair, it was not designed to filter dissolved chemicals.
I loved this video. I watched the entire video straight through. I'm subscribed to quite a few preppers and I rarely ever watch these type of walk videos, but you made it interesting, informative, and easy to keep up with. I like how you pointed out some of the little things, like walking along the water source. I also like how you mentioned about stopping to drink water, even with a cool breeze. I'm a huge water drinker, and I try to remind people to drink more water, especially in air conditioned buildings, because it's easy to dehydrate yourself in a 'normal' environment such as an office building. Thank you again.
Good skills, good drills - On the road, drivers may be more wary of walkers. People must also incorporate their families once in a while. good walk, talk and gear.
Remember half a year ago when a hike like that would've waylaid you? You've really come a long way and you're looking healthy and chipper. I know I speak for everyone here when I say I'm glad to see it. Keep on keepin' on!
This looked so fun to do! I always wanted to do something like this and place small caches of supplies around good locations. But I never done this because people just don't leave me alone and let me walk by LOL. I guess when people see a women walking they think something just got to be wrong and insist on helping me get home safely. Thank you for the video. I loved it!!!
Just did a little around ten yesterday here in the Alps with the wife. Hot days and a steep incline can escalate into exhaustion without proper hydration, so we train to carry a certain amount because the higher elevations contain very little water. Also include paper maps of the area due to zero signal in some areas for miles as these are footpaths through winding ravines and forest, and protection from larger predators as well. Always good to buddy up if possible. "Train as you fight". ---Thanks for the time and the walk.
Really enjoyed the video. Such different terrain from mine. I would be extremely uncomfortable in such an open area so I really appreciated all your common sense pointers. Mostly winding roads , hills and trees here.
We made the walk around chapel rock loop with the kids over rough terrain around 10.2 miles. No gear and very little water. Took us around 6 hours because we rested at Lake Superior.
@@ModernRefugee yes. It’s why I estimate 3 days. It’s population dense . Winding roads through some very rough neighborhoods. Man, I sure am enjoying this channel and learning a lot as I go. I work 44 miles from home and I am always trying to plan and war game my route home if I had to hoof it home. You brought up some very good ideas. My get home bag is about 22 lbs, but I'm going to go thru it and lighten it up. Thanks for all the great ideas!!!!!!
Your "bull" story reminded me of trying to wrangle up black and white cows in fully mature corn in the dark. As a short girl, barely 5 feet tall i would get called by my parents to get in cows that got out of the barnyard. Tall corn, night time, short girl and black and white cows: boy did you use your other senses to find them.
Catching a wayward cow is a real pain. The last one I helped catch was a three quarter grown steer. I got the rope around its neck and it dragged me around until it got tired so the other guys could get ropes on it and tied up. I came home covered in mud and grass and shocked the heck out of my family lol.
@@ModernRefugee Lol. Oh my. My dad would shout expletives and "stop that cow". Lol. She was 1200 pounds and I was 80. I don't think so. I just prayed she didn't run me over. Lol.

Blackie thomas had a good video recently about using one of those sniper veil nets as a cooling device. Soaking it down with water, and throwing it over your head cools the air off around your face as the wind passes through the water soaked material. Seems like it's work pretty good, and he was swearing by it. Worth looking into
They can really dig. The farmers don’t like them. They dig into the farm drainage and the water gets in and collapses the banks. It’s really bad in wet years like this one.
Get a titanium GRAYL Ultrapress for water purification, and you’ll wonder why you waited so long. The GRAYL will let you dip from a bridge also, and you can boil or cook food in the metal bottle if you need to.
