Glad you caught it. My mom once paid 'the annual water heater insurance' bill... $1000. She was so proud she paid the bill! After that I made sure to take in the mail, she only got to see personal letters and store flyers. Have a good rest of the week! -Jill
The biggest problem is that these scammers are all located in foreign countries where the long arm of the law cannot reach them. Scams are just everywhere. Mail, email, texts, phone calls and it is just constant. We must be suspicious of everything! Thanks, MR.
These scammers are so.... low that they could crawl under a snake. However, I have been going through the unclaimed funds listing in counties local to myself and sending letters to folks who I could locate, telling them that such-n-such office is holding money and they need to call that office (county treasurer or auditor) to request the forms needed to file a claim. I've been doing that because the state does not need another slush fund. I *am not* asking for any commission like some folks, I just want to get the funds back into the hands of the owners with in the public.
Do you have any luck with Ohio? They refused to give the money to my late husband because he didn't have proof he lived at whatever address they wanted. It was after Katrina so the paperwork was gone.
@@lulaporter6080 Does the company that turned over the money to the state still exist? Also depending on how long ago, and for how long, you might find census records or maybe the address can be found on his credit reports? I'd received my money but I hadn't waited very long. As he has passed you would also need to send copies of marriage and death certificates.
It happens everywhere. One of my coworkers mom was almost scammed out of $40,000. The new thing out there is people are some how getting a hold of the money on food cards that people have. The scammers have stolen so many identities and information off our own governments computers and they don’t even attempt to go after them. My husband’s military high clearance information was hacked along with others. Took three years to clear up. IA is just making it easier.
Scammers getting smarter. Always remember folks never ever send money to something that comes from the internet a text message or strange letter. Unless you know the person even then always be sure to get proper verification. Take someone with you if there is a "meeting in person" if they refuse to meet and make up excuses to do it online or through the phone. It's 100% a scam.
Outrageous $. Most have crazy stories. It's the smarter ones that focus more on the common man with a more believable story of $10k or so, or the overlooked $750 unpaid bill. The smaller your circle and the less you have, the easier it is to know this stuff is crap.
That includes your name. And don't say "yes" to anything. They can take it (your voice) and use it. Best to just not answer AT ALL if you don't know who it is, whenever possible.
I used to get email like that! 😂 London Ontario????? 😂 I used to live there. I called it the City of Hell..... Had NO idea that they were mailing these out!
Unless I know the phone number, I don't answer. I'm a plumber,if it's a real customer calling with a plumbing problem, trust me, they will leave a message.
I get emails wanting my address and who knows what else for a supposed purchase I had made...all of it goes to FILE 13. I'm really tired of scammers getting away with this BS.
This is just a small problem amongst many other proplems because of the lack of the rule of law! Put two and two together and then you'll see how far we have fallen as a country. Yes i am bitter and I have the right to be so after what has happened!
@ModernRefugee indeed brother, I don't know if it can be fixed to be completely honest. And will not share stuff here to tank your channel. But I imagine that you too are on top of these things. Have a blessed night brother, it's getting late. Ttys

Take care.
some of my favorite YT shorts are the voice actors answering the scam calls.
My husband loves watching the ones who mess with the scammers LOL
We always need to protect our elderly parents and relatives. My dad was retired federal law enforcement and still he became very gullible in his 80s.

Wow, TY for sharing. I am always telling my mom do delete any email or texts and call institutions directly and now this. It just doesn’t stop
This world would be a paradise if we could eliminate greed (greed doesn't always involve money). I'm glad you didn't get taken by this scam.

I got a number of those emails in the early 2000's and cant believe its still happening. Guess there's one born every minute, so they hope.
For God sake, never click links in emails. Hang up the phone if you don't know the person calling. Never give out any personal information.
Sound advice.
