I love this Petite Butterlys Sweat pea shrub but mine is yellowing and the center of the plant looks a little woody. Is this the case with this plant or is it possible that due it being close to the sidewalk and dogs urinating on it is causing this yellowing? I guess my question do the center of the plants yellow and become woody or is it unique to my situation.

Maybe give it more water or move to part shade area. Mine had done that as well.

Dont know if you're in one of the really hot parts of Arizona, sounds like it. We get up to 100 here but not often, low humidity also. If you're getting that hot also I would just make sure that if it is in a pot you avoid the afternoon direct sun in summer. Mine is in full sun all day and 9 years in that spot. I have seen it burn when it didn't have enough water in the sun. good luck with it.

very cool, rounded, low maintenance plant. would u recommend this in a large container for 8+hrs of sun? AZ weather is similar to CA, except i would prob move them in the summer. Thank you for your time.

I'd like to plant this shrub in a pot. Do you recommend I mix in some sand with the soil? I hope mine will be as beautiful as this one.

I planted this and pruned it to keep it small and the opposite happened. It is super tall - perhaps 8 - 10 feet. What shall I do? It's too tall.

I planted 6 of these 2 years ago in Salem, Oregon 8b, full sun, south west exposure. I lost 3 of them this year due to the cold which was strange because last winter we had ice storms and they were unharmed. I love these plants..they are adorable and looked wonderful in my yard. I'm not sure if I should try again. They weren't cheap and I haven't seen them anywhere but Lowes. Does anyone have suggestions?

Lowes has them right now in small buckets for 10 bucks!

Hi! I Just purchased 2 of these shrubs & I'm Located in zone 8 (South Georgia) where summer temps are between 70s to all the way up to the 90s ...will these be ok in my zone? Should I plant in the shade or are they ok in full sun?

I'm in 8b and planted them in full sun, s/w exposure. We had 3 days of extreme heat last summer 115°,117°, 115° and it didn't phase them! BUT, I lost 3 of mine to freezing this year and it wasn't that cold...

"Sweat" is perspiration. "Sweet" is the spelling I think you're looking for.
