Happy Friday! I’ve made a handful of good decisions in my life and this is the best one so far! I hope you enjoy this video and I hope you keep pushing, this journey will be worth it!
Thank you for sharing! I want to transition to tech but I don’t know where to start. There’s so many online courses out there and it’s hard to decipher which ones are legitimate since I don’t have any background with the field. Any tips or recommendations? Thanks again.
My brother is a software engineer! All his life he’s been really tech savvy and has always had it in him! I’m going into the medical field to hopefully become a nurse and I kinda want to start learning how to code. Your videos are super motivating especially knowing you didn’t come from a CS background! So cool to see women in this field! You go girl!!
I used to want to be a nurse but stopped because of physical issues. Now I'm finding there are coding positions where I can use my medical terminology with coding and contribute to the health field still!

And working my way into learning Python it's a learning curve but in love with the challenge. Hang in there you got this!

I work in the medical field and have been contemplating the switch towards pursuing a career in tech. I’ve watched your videos before and learned some code while at home, but recently, I’ve still been on the fence towards pursuing a degree in nurse anesthesia vs tech since I’ve been working in the medical field for 5 years now and I felt that it would be a shame to up all that I’ve worked for. However, I’m starting to realize that my personality may not be well suited to become a nurse anesthetist. It has been a struggle letting go of a dream that I’ve held onto ever since I was in high school/college. I took science classes while working, took certs, and the GRE for this, but taking a couple of steps back to fully analyze myself and my situation was seriously needed. To spend 3 years of my life in school full time without earning income & getting into huge debt again made me re-think those aspirations even more. Thank you for being open about your experience in switching career fields and being able to quickly pivot and thrive in the tech field. It has helped me understand that it’s ok to let go of old dreams and pursue new ones.
i was supposed to go back to school and pursue a degree in the medical field. Im glad i got a job and through this pandemic... i had a change of heart. I can relate.
maybe you can combine you're nurse experience with tech. For example I'm studying medical engineering and it's perfect to combine medicine with tech. We are learning mechanics, computer science and mathematics especially for the medicine.

mdesah W oh I‘m sorry I‘m just know seeing your comment. I actually live in Germany & unfortunately they have no English speaking bootcamp :( but my advice for picking one would be to ask a long-time developer on her/his opinion on which curriculum is true to a developer‘s day to day life! My brother is a senior backend developer and helped me find one :) I hope this helped!
You’ve single-handedly inspired me to really push into this field. Thank you for your inspirational words and logic. I’m starting with app academy Open to see if I️ really like this! It’s a free program which looks like a great way to test the waters. I’m very excited.
Great video, and great motivator :) I would like to say, you should also make a video of why NOT to be a SWE because I know too many people that chose it for the money and are miserable. It's a fantastic career don't get me wrong, but you should really enjoy coding and genuinely be comfortable being uncomfortable, lost, and always thinking. :) It's definitely a career worth investing your time into, but also I don't want people ending up like the people I know.
Im in tech as a QA engineer but I've always wanted to learn to code..yes its challenging for sure but im enjoying the learn. By the way your skin is absolutely amazing.
I have to make a decision soon so your videos are helping in decluttering all the thoughts I have in my head in regards to what path I should take. Thank you &!Hello from San Francisco
This is awesome! Enough motivation to see me through the lessons. Wish we could have a support group for everyone starting out as a way to motivate each other💜
# why become a software engineer TLDR 1. automation is here, getting into tech will give you career relevancy / employability --> you can sleep without fear 2. you can work remotely for many roles at many company 3. you get access to high salary and benefits --> you can have financial independence and financial stability 4. you will get many work opportunities because there is high demand, including for entry level, and further industry growth is expected here on out 5. you get to use creativity on the job on the regular (for many jobs in this industry) 6. the skills you acquire in tech will transfer very well to entrepreneurship, freelance, and volunteer work
So I just caught myself watching this video daily for motivational purposes and I realize the power of consistency and desire, so I'll never stop until I succeed! I hope that everyone watching you can succeed too, at their own times.
Yes! Thank you for this - Great watch! Could you please also do a video on certificates? There's obviously a lot of free resources out there, but some of them offer a paid feature where you're given a certificate, and I'm sure self-taught programmers in-training (like myself) are curious as to how useful these really are. I've heard varying opinions on this from different successful programmers. On the one hand, certificates can credit your knowledge, skills and abilities, but on the other hand, do employers even really notice all these little course certificates and might it even look "bad" that you "took the 'easy' route" instead of going to college/uni?? Thanks for your time and all your work on this channel! We appreciate you!
I’ve been wondering the same too I’m 19 and in college right now for theater but I’ve gotten into coding over the summer and I’m debating whether or not I should do it as a degree some RUclipsrs say you don’t need it and some say it doesn’t hurt to have it but I don’t wanna spend money on more classes when I could learn all that I need to learn for free I just wanna know if it will be easier or harder for me to get a job with or without a degree
In my opinion, i think is good to have,at least 1 certificate, just for insurance. And add to your resume the free courses as well, in my vision, i my show to the employer that you are a flexible person able to learn by yourself and able to reach other people and respurces when you feel stock with something. Self learning as limitations sometimes and some of the employers will consider this. Another thing that some youtubers say is to make personal projects and use as portfolio. So, in my opinion, mix these 3 things to increase your chances
I got a little into coding, nothing major. I was doing the Swift Playgrounds app on the iPad 2-3 years ago. I got really hooked on it and I ended up getting stuck and was watching this RUclipsr explain the reasoning and being able to understand it and it got my creative mind thinking and I was able to come up with my own solutions. Then he stopped and I got stuck and I just stopped then my iPad screen broke and then I bought the 2018 iPad Pro and I haven't fully been able to get back into it. I was really enjoying it. I loved it. I want to get back into it. But haven't been able to find myself to fully be able to. It's depressing me. I want to learn software! This is encouraging me.
I really appreciated this video as it focused on honest reasons that people might choose to become an SE and it was backed up with statistics as well. Thanks for putting this together!
Such a great video. I wise I knew this before I went to uni. I would have paid more attention in my programming lessons. I remember graduating from Material Engineering and thinking, I can only work in a lab or in an Engineering firm. I was finding it difficult to figure out how I could apply the skills I learnt to anything else. When I learnt to analyse data with python/ sql, it meant that I could sit in my room and analysis how a certain stress would cause a material to fail. I get to use the expensive skills I learnt at uni with that analytical skills from a free udemy course. The opportunities I can take advantage of has expanded exponentially. I also decided to learn swift and I am now building an app for idea I had. It’s amazing being able to create with a laptop and not needing to being in lab. Labs are great and building things that you can touch is amazing but you don’t have to restrict yourself to just that.
Great video - I really love that your transparent about salary benefits! As someone who went from being pretty much a broke student to a 6 figure salary within a year, I think it's so important for us to be open and honest about how much we earn so that we can teach our peers and mentees that you ARE worth a high salary if you know how to demand it (this is especially true as POC: we don't get taught our worth at a young enough age, sadly).
I am a older broke student and I would love to learn a little about your journey. I am tired of struggling to put food on the table. I finally take the a leap and started self teach myself engineer..I am not any where closed to finish my first course, but I am trying.I know I can do better and I want to do better. Thank you for your help.
RUclips algorithm did a great job I m from India English we speak here is really different but still I find ur voice soothing❤❤❤lods of love to uh Currently planning to taks cs engineering ❤❤
Great video! I got a role in data analytics and it’s been great thus far, I worked very hard to learn the skills when the quarantine first began, learned how to interview well and built a strong resume. It was worth it!
This video couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! Thank you so much for motivating me and keeping me positive on continuing my coding journey. I’m 1 month away from graduating my bootcamp and this just affirmed what is the light at the end of the tunnel 💛
Thanks for the continued motivation. I've been studying almost every day for a few months now and really enjoying learning Python and developing more confidence in myself! Was not able to go to college so the opportunity that a software engineering degree offers me makes me so much more optimistic about my future. :)
1- Rise in automation 2- Remote work 3- High Salary + Good Benefits 4- High Demand = More opportunities 5- Creativity / Problem solving 6- Freelance work
Thank you so much for this video & all of your videos! I'm starting to learn more about the tech industry coming from over 13 years of restaurant work; an industry that we all know got annihilated during this pandemic. I have so much schooling under my belt but no degree. I started taking CS50 per your recommendation and it's been an exciting new journey. I'm only seeing this video now is giving me more motivation! Thanks. Happy Weekend to you
I think this could be a really great career path for women who want the flexibility to work from home because they want to be there with their kids... I work in finance (private equity) , and aside from the fact that the hours are insane, I also often worry if I will ever be able to have kids because I don't want to have kids if I'm never even going to see them because I work such long hours... I don't think its possible to be a full stay-at-home mom and be a software engineer at the same time, you will obviously still need a nanny and someone who will handle all the cleaning and cooking... But I think this job can help in creating some time in your day where you can be present with your kids
Why do you not think it’s possible to work in a great field and still have time for family? You are more likely to have more time. It’s not like you are working 16 hour days or anything. Maybe it happens sometimes, but not every week. L.O.L.
I've realized that knowing how to code is a huge value even if you're not a pure software engineer. You can bring a lot of value to most employers that aren't willing to shell out millions of dollars for developed software for specific business needs. If you can code you can build simple programs to achieve business needs at a fraction of the cost.
I am in education and switched to IT. I have been back and forth between CyberSecurity and working in the cloud. I’m in a Cloud Computing Architect program. I took a coding prerequisite class and I loved it. I don’t even know what to do anymore. I don’t want to be an architect if it means writing white papers and constant presentations.
Ahh this video is just what I needed. I have done a boot camp and am now enrolled in Launch School and I love it. But I think I spend too much time listening to people on reddit complaining about their jobs as SWE's. It can be discouraging to hear all of the negativity on there, I have been trying to just stay outta there lol. Thank you for your video! =D
I know nothing about coding at all! I love finding solutions to problems! Do I need a separate computer to start. Can you do a video on what electronics and software you need to get started.
You don't need a separate computer but I do suggest looking into installing a Virtual Machine onto your desktop. Look up VM Virtual Box. I installed Linux distribution Ubuntu where I was able to access my browser of choice and apps /programs. You can break things without messing up your actual computer since VM is a virtual machine.
You do not need a new computer to start. You don't need a virtual box, or VM of any kind. You can do this of course, and I personally enjoy working on a "Linux" distribution, rather than windows, but it's not needed. It's an optional choice. I would recommend googling simple tutorials for HTML/CSS/Javascript code, then once you've grasped that, pick a javascript framework to practice with, like React or Angular, then find a simple tutorial to create a basic page with your chosen framework. LinkedIn, has some tutorials, and quizzes + certificates upon completions too.
i think im in love with you. thank u so much for your content!! Clear, patient, consumer-friendly content...looking like a queen frm wakanda. Thank you.Youre amazing. Love, from South Africa.
All great reasons. I've always found coding difficult but I've only done front end. I have 8 classes left to gain a bachelor's in general IT, and I'm trying to figure out if SWE is what I would like to concentrate on. Great video.
The creativity and the available option to be your own boss are the most important for me 😎 thank u For sharing your experiences with us I see your video is awesome 👏 would u mind if I work on adding Arabic subtitle to this video because your words have encouraged me to start my coding journey one time 🤩 .
Your videos have really inspired me to look into a career as a software engineer! I anticipate each new video you release :) What do you suggest as a starting point, i'm thinking of signing up for Code Academy for their classes and I work full time currently, is this a good point to begin learning? how many hours are required daily to learn the sufficient material in your opinion?

I can't wait to see genetically enhanced humans and robots/ AI and or a super human race or a sub species of humans that develop different mutations/enhancements that live on a different planet!!!!
The Come Up Hi, I ❤️ your videos! Super informative, honest, and sassy
Francisco Rubio Junior Devs are so Agile though..
I needed this! I just started my bootcamp this week, making the transition from being a marketing manager. So far I'm getting by but I have been overwhelmed by the pace of it. Thank you for this video. I need to push forward and it will all be worth it!
Congratulations on starting! Which bootcamp did you choose? I am self teaching myself and wanted to do a bootcamp. Thanks in advance..
mdesah W oh I‘m sorry I‘m just know seeing your comment.
Same 🙌🏽
Been feeling so discouraged lately! Thanks for this video!
Just what I needed to hear. I am starting the first portion of my coding Bootcamp at the end of the month and I am NERVOUS!!!!
Hey how is it going
It's my best decision too!
am starting a career in tech and i found the process interesting , being an engineering students has given me an hedge to find coding interesting.
My fav posted a video today! I Today is the end of week 10 in my bootcamp and CHILE.... you gave me 6 reasons to keep going. Thank you!
Great video, and great motivator :)
I would like to say, you should also make a video of why NOT to be a SWE because I know too many people that chose it for the money and are miserable. It's a fantastic career don't get me wrong, but you should really enjoy coding and genuinely be comfortable being uncomfortable, lost, and always thinking. :)
It's definitely a career worth investing your time into, but also I don't want people ending up like the people I know.
She made it ruclips.net/video/4G7ejs8rjpg/видео.html
@@uvotmin thank you!!! I'm somewhat new to this channel lol so good to know :)
Wish we could have a support group for everyone starting out as a way to motivate each other💜
# why become a software engineer TLDR
1. automation is here, getting into tech will give you career relevancy / employability --> you can sleep without fear
2. you can work remotely for many roles at many company
3. you get access to high salary and benefits --> you can have financial independence and financial stability
4. you will get many work opportunities because there is high demand, including for entry level, and further industry growth is expected here on out
5. you get to use creativity on the job on the regular (for many jobs in this industry)
6. the skills you acquire in tech will transfer very well to entrepreneurship, freelance, and volunteer work
You are correct, automation is the new normal with lucrative incentives $$$.
Loving your content. Im a Network Engineer getting into software dev now
Great video - I really love that your transparent about salary benefits!
RUclips algorithm did a great job
I m from India English we speak here is really different but still I find ur voice soothing❤❤❤lods of love to uh
Currently planning to taks cs engineering ❤❤
Thx for this amazing video! I got motivated to self-teach software engineering from you so much! ur the best
Great video! I got a role in data analytics and it’s been great thus far, I worked very hard to learn the skills when the quarantine first began, learned how to interview well and built a strong resume. It was worth it!
The editing on this video is so good!! Your skills are improving exponentially!
Thank you for the encouragement sista!!
This video couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! Thank you so much for motivating me and keeping me positive on continuing my coding journey. I’m 1 month away from graduating my bootcamp and this just affirmed what is the light at the end of the tunnel 💛
Thanks a lot for your lovely words of encouragement. i hope to always remember this day and be glad that I made the same decision you made.
Thank you for your the motivation!! I’m just starting to learn how to code through self learning and I want to be a software developer as a career
Thanks for the continued motivation. I've been studying almost every day for a few months now and really enjoying learning Python and developing more confidence in myself! Was not able to go to college so the opportunity that a software engineering degree offers me makes me so much more optimistic about my future. :)
It’s definitely worth it! In it now and it’s an amazing opportunity
1- Rise in automation
2- Remote work
3- High Salary + Good Benefits
4- High Demand = More opportunities
5- Creativity / Problem solving
6- Freelance work
It's in her description box lol
Great motivational video! You make me proud as a fellow Naija! Also, black is definitely your power color. :)
Thanks. Happy Weekend to you
I love watching you doing this, it really motivates me a lot as a new RUclipsr
Thanks for the video gal ❤️
Going into any career the salary should be the second priority. First priority is the love.
You have a winning message, and quite the social media presence. Glad I found out about this channel
i think im in love with you. thank u so much for your content!!
Clear, patient, consumer-friendly content...looking like a queen frm wakanda.
Thank you.Youre amazing.
Love, from South Africa.
Awesome video
Really loves your confidence 💖💖
You motivate me a lot. Favorite RUclipsr now.
Definitely needed this video this morning.
Motivated 👏. Thank you.
All great reasons. I've always found coding difficult but I've only done front end. I have 8 classes left to gain a bachelor's in general IT, and I'm trying to figure out if SWE is what I would like to concentrate on. Great video.
Created a kit account and added your recommendations.😎🤜🏾🤛🏾
Yes! It’s a great industry that growing more each year
I love this channel so much 😍❤️❤️
You’re so awesome 👏🏽 keep up the good work and making these videos.

You're such a big motivation. Thank you.
such great tips and Ideas! thanks for sharing!
Can you do a video for ppl who have no experience in tech Like ppl who are changing paths later on in life?
I really loved this video ;) you inspire me.
Thanks for the vid! Would love for you to talk more about understanding algorithms and data structure and some sources to check out. Thanks!
Automation summary: Fear the Terminator, or build the Terminator. Your choice lol.
Which certifications do you recommend for someone who want to switch career from accounting/ data analytics background to a software engineer. Thanks
Really motivational video, thank you.
YOU JUST HYPED ME UP! I'M GOING INTO CS THIS SEMESTER!
you're inspiring. thanks for sharing so much with us
