It's a shame. But it is kinda understandable. The heat system was pretty buggy in ME1. Multiple times, when I've overheated my weapons, they ended up permanently overheated and I was a sitting duck for the rest of the mission unless I reloaded to an earlier save.
@@kalythai Understandble but the ammo system feels like a step back in terms of uniqueness or creativity. I was glad to see they brought the heat system back for the M-7 in the later iteration as a singular gun. In general more than the heat system I enjoyed the level of customization in the first game. You could lean into reduction and just keep firing or lean into power and fire a handful of shots. It felt nice to have that freedom. At least ME3 did well with customization.

The dialog wheel can often read very differently to what's actually spoken. Generally speaking, it's helpful to interpret the lower options as quite 'cold' and the higher options as 'kind'.
1:58:09 A fair chunk of people are more upset that the retcon was done through a Twitter post. “Since the first 10,000 were created there was always female Custodians” Despite the Emperor (their creator btw) calling them a “brotherhood of demigods” Unlike you’re examples which were mostly pre 3rd edition for the SM’s & Primarchs or in the Necrons case an example of an “unreliable narrator” done right. Female Custodians were just hand waved in without rhyme of reason.

This stream and the next one are a classic example of the perfect being the enemy of the good enough. The irritating, bossy "do every side-quest, make these meta choices" people in Josh's comments completely killed any chance of the rest of us being able to guide Josh's experience. He truly, fervently believes that there is no difference between skipping the meat of what Mass Effect is, and skipping pointless side filler. In fact, he thinks that choosing not to interact with the main cast is a choice in the same way that a dialogue option is. And fine, bumrushing virmire when you don't even know any of the characters who will have major plot moments is clearly possible, but I simply can't accept that a Mass Effect run where you see less than half of the squad conversations is valid - you simply will not be talking about the same experience as any fan of the series. I'm not really surprised or all that miffed, when Josh proposed playing Mass Effect on stream I knew it wasn't a very good idea and that he would struggle to get through all the content that you really need to see in biweekly streams, it's not his fault that the games aren't very compatible with his stream format and it's going better than I expected - but I hadn't really realised just how badly you can speedrun the first game. I'm very worried about what he'll miss in the third. It's very hard to actually articulate this stuff. I am not remotely advocating a completionist playthrough, and we absolutely should stfu about Josh's choices (he's doing a FANTASTIC job of being original and roleplaying his character, I wouldn't be frustrated by this playthrough if I didn't love what I'm seeing) - but there needs to be a way for people who know the games and have a bit of perspective to push him towards those conversations he really needs to have and the few side quests he really ought to check out (I mean Bring Down the Sky, Grissom Academy etc - not N7/UNC quests which are all skippable). We need some kind of chat prefix for 'no, not doing this isn't a choice, you're skipping the game', and a way to shut down people who use it inappropriately on fluff. Sadly in the sea of voices in chat it's impossible to distinguish those who are concerned for Josh's playthrough not skipping literally the entire reason we love this series, and those who are bossy and want Josh to have a complete, metagamed run with all the choices they prefer. I'll keep watching, but I'm afraid that Josh is going to barely know most of the main cast by the emotional climax of the story which is just a shame. And yes, I'm aware what a silly critique this is of a playthrough under the name T.Horny.
I’m mostly frustrated with the fact that Josh is willing to spend a ton of time reading all of the Codex entries in a silly voice but not willing to spend more time talking with other characters. Kind of reminds me how many things Josh missed or never did in New Vegas due to time constraints, yet he spent the majority of a stream looking for a lab coat to do a minor thing that he already had a solution for just because chat told him to. I’m all for Josh being silly and doing what he wants, but it can be frustrating how often he prioritizes big stream time sinks for minimal gain while saying he doesn’t have time for other parts of the game that I think would be more interesting to both him and the audience. It’s his first playthrough though, so I understand that he doesn’t exactly know what is and isn’t important yet, and it’s still early in the game so there’s still time for him to do stuff he may have missed. It just feels like inconsistent logic from Josh at times. I still love the streams though, and I’m just being nit picky. Josh is obviously free to stream however he wants.
its so weird seeing someone not pick the red/blue options, thats so engrained in me after playing this series (and bioware games) so many times I respect avoiding it for the roleplay (with talitha for example like it kinda makes sense for someone less familar to not pick what sounds like an asshole response) but unfortunately for these games it's treated less like a roleplay choice and more like just a bad ending. Red/Blue is just always the right choice Same is kind of true for companion dialogue, but I think me2 makes that a little more obvious maybe. TBF the companion dialogue isnt super fleshed out in 1 anyways, and while you miss some stuff avoiding it there's only one major consequence I can think of and that can be avoided even then He punched the reporter tho so all is forgiven
