This has been saved on my youtube page for years now. Absolute magic. It still irks me they didn't get their deserved 1st place. Some people in the comments are saying they lost because they didn't push any extreme moves. It's a dance competition .... not a circus tent. They were amazing. Easily the best, not perfect but easily the best. A criminal decision. All my love to the company from Gloucester England ♥️ 👏🙌👌👍
The movement at 5:50 by the whole crew is so clean, it gets me every time i watch this The way they go with the violin and how they all move together so perfect!
DON'T understand why they didn't win. That just shows you that the winner isn't always the best. My opinion. Love this group. Goosebumps the whole time I watched this, everytime I watch this. Thank you for dancing :)
Because their moves were easier than AOV's, there's a bit too much dead space in the performance (notice how often the choreo requires them to hold or slow-motion a move in the slow songs), and there aren't really any transitions. This choreography isn't all that interesting either. I mean, it's good, but the cleanliness is the thing that really stands out, not the moves themselves... overall it's just that they could have tried harder.
I really hate that people keep saying AOV won because of theatrics, as if there weren't FIVE other songs in their piece besides the finale. And that people keep flat out ignoring the fact that in those five other songs, AOV had more musicality than The Company did. The songs they danced to had far, far, far more going on in them, and their choreography matched every mood, every beat, and every shift of every song. The Company's musicality was good, but it was to songs that didn't change much. Neither of them outdanced the other - they both were near flawless - but in terms of choreography AOV was clearly ahead in difficulty and creativity. The Company laced quite a bit of basicness into their set.
I totally agree that it was incohesive. It was still good enough to win, though, because if you can call AOV's choreo generic, you can certainly say the same thing about The Company. DANCE is the only Company piece that wasn't your average generic smoothvibe/cali shit. Are you honestly more impressed by the choreo for Maria Maria or If I Ain't Got You than you are for AOV's dubstep pieces? Because Company was definitely coasting on those. I understand what you're saying - it's nice to see groups try something new - but when they do what they do best, you don't just cancel the whole thing out because you're used to seeing it. You look for the parts of the piece that draw attention and compare them to the competition. Outside of DANCE, Company's highlights were some rather simple vibes (shmoney, etc.), a little unexpected choreo ("She gon shake it"), and some intermediate prop work (chairs, guitar). The rest of the set was good too, but it was just the usual. Whereas AOV's highlights outside of the Marionette and Screen parts were some pretty fantastic level work in the Cockney Thug piece, an impressive and unexpected double stunt, and one of the best examples ever of how to fill your entire set with formation shifts.
I don't think their formations were clumped - it looked great to me. It's certainly not close to the worst I've seen a stage getting overcrowded. But anyway, I don't understand how you keep saying that Company is the best at their style, but somehow AOV isn't the best at theirs. Who's consistently better than AOV at dubstep choreo? The best others can do is get to their level for one performance. And saying the judges weren't being objective is some pretty strong conjecture. As long as the winner is arguably ahead of the competition in at least one area, everyone should at least be able to see where the judges are coming from. I mean if The Company won, it would be because they had the cleanest, sharpest most widely enjoyable set - which would be fine. But when AOV wins because they have what's obviously the riskiest, most skillful, most creative, and most unique set in the competition, you're calling foul play and everybody else is saying they didn't deserve it. Not okay.
Definitely should've been first. I get dance competitions are about the flash and gimmicks, but I miss the part of just dancing like this. It made me want to put on my shoes and get back out there. Beyond dope and SO.EFFING.CLEAN.
One of the things that I love about this group is that all routines they did made me want to dance myself. I felt entertained and inspired. Meanwhile, the first place winners made me want to click back-Except when they used the screen, that was entertaining.
Arrggh! I can't stop watching this. This group made me want to dance again. The moves goes with the song and everything is so smooth and so clean. Damn it! I just can't stop watching it. I just can't.
I have watched this video... I don't know HOW many times now... and I've watched the 1st and 3rd place teams... THIS GROUP'S CHOREOGRAPHY WAS THE BEST! This is DANCING... real DANCING. The other groups are doing cheerleading routines. I love the choreography, the music choices, THE DANCERS! All of you! This was a WONDERFUL performance. I'm gonna watch this AGAIN!
Watching this gave me chills. I would love to have dance skills even remotely like this. I love how simple, yet perfectly synchronized and timed everything was... no props, flashing lights, etc... In my book, this was #1.
The Academy of Villains were incredible. Sharp clean movements. Hell they made me a little scared at one point lol... but what The Company left on that stage was their hearts. I was frozen in time watch the beauty and fun of their dancing. It takes you back to you're happiest feels! Amazing individuals and all their personalities showed on that stage. You guys are just phenomenal.
This is so SICK!!! I vote this dance first place for sure!. Awesome dance "The Company". I loved how everyone was in tune with each other. That is true art!.
Tracklist: Sage The Gemini - Red Nose Alicia Keys - If I Ain't Got You Drake - Going Home (VIOLIN COVER) - Peter Lee Johnson Justice - D.A.N.C.E. Carlos Santana - Maria Maria
The cleanest dance I have ever watched. And I have been dancing for 16 years. Screw the results, everyone who has an eye for actual dance and precision knows who the winner should have been. BRAVO.
I knew from watching the tech rehearsal that this was an award winning set!!! Much props to PAT CRUZ and The Company for an amazing performance! Clever concept, amazing musicality, and always true to your original style! Well deserved trophy!
I personally believe the Company should've won because they took a risk expanding into versatile styles and still maintaining infallible cleanliness and musicality. They put this set together with pieces you normally wouldn't see them perform, but in a brilliant way. Think about it, when was the last time you've seen The Company use chairs for a piece in a set?? Great theme, great choreography, great song choices, and of course, great technique. If they keep using this format, they'll go a long way :) And no disrespect to AOV either. Yes their set was theatrical and entertaining, but it was typical AOV. Not discrediting Pharside, Krystal, or their dancers, it was just predictable to what they were going to do.
Easily my favorite performance of Vibe 2014, would've like to see them in first place but I see why AoV won. People gotta remember in this situation you're not just dancers, you're entertainers. Look at Quest Crew/Jabbawockeez, they elevated themselves from just dancers to complete performers. It's not JUST about dancing.
I watched this dance over & over! Sooo Good :) I couldn't even get through the Academy of Villans dance. This should have been first place without doubt.
This for sure deserved first place. Yes, Academy of Villains put on a great performance and they can definitely dance extremely well, but it felt a lot messier than this performance. There seemed to be too many dancers on stage at any given time, making the performance look a little cramped, whereas The Company made everything look very clean and well executed. You could focus on every individual dancer on stage. Sure, Academy of Villains had a nice gimmick at the end (which arguably won them the competition), but The Company are overall better dancers and, in my opinion, had much better choreography.
We can all agree to disagree. There are 2 different styles being played out within the two. Personally, I think AoV won due to their concept and ability to manipulate themselves to fit their style. I mean, The Company is sick. Crisp, clean and fresh, but AoV's much more dynamic in their styles. The "Gimmick" aside (even tho' I don't think it was, because it was just as clean as any piece of choreo the company has ever created) with the images we much more complete. The windows were spot on, and the concept killed the Company by a long shot. The Company just appealed to a larger demography..
I agree with you 100% ~ I loved how there dancing was wholesome and they used songs that didn't have swearing in them... I was not impressed with the Villains just a bit scary for my tasting!!!!!
I completely agree with you. I'm not a professional dancer at all. The most I've done is watch America's Best Dance Crew, but I do know that one of the things one of the Judges pointed out was the walking in the transitions. The Academy of Villians walked a bunch of times.... At least with the company I didn't feel like they were walking as much.
I personally like The Company's dance performance better than Academy of Villains. It really depends on the grading criteria. If the judges wanted flips and prop usage in addition to just dancing, then AofV wins it. But on dance performance alone, I think The Company takes it. I especially like the subtle movements they made. it really made a bigger impact for me.
On dance performance alone... AoV could've won still. Company too. And if you're not critical of bboying as "not really dancing," then Akashi could've won too. Stuff happens.
I guess I just liked the Company's synchronicity better. Perhaps that's cheesy, but I like it. Overall it was a very entertaining competition. Wish I could see it live!
I felt the soul of dance with "the company", they make it beautiful and easy, this soft movements - just melt my eyes. Maybe i am more emotional person, thats why i fell in love with the company and of coarse like them more then the Villains, but everyone has it's taste of music and dancing style:)
1st song: Red Nose - Sage The Gemini 2nd song: Alicia Keys - If I Ain't Got You 3rd song: violin song: cover of Drake's song: Hold On, We're Going Home 4th song: D.a.n.c.e - Justice
Regardless of the amount of times(which is probably over 50) I watch this I am amazed. This production is absolutely incredible. Words cannot describe how talented each individual is. My favourite part is at the 3:09 mark as well as the move at the 3:36.. absolutely stunning. congrats!
BEYOND awesome! THE best synchronized dancing I've ever seen! Wow. I cannot stop watching..:)It wasn't just a bunch a peeps methodically jumping around- there's a soulfulness in the way they move- LOVE this group!
The performance for the first song was the best imo. Everything else was really cool and took a lot of talent but I think the first part they should have saved for last for the finale wow factor. Academy of Villains did that. I truly believe The Company should have won but it was probably just poor judges.
Zulu Gremin. Ryan Feng. Lando Wilkins. Jillian Meyers. Courtney Miller. JoJo Diggs. Lot of talented judges from various teams with tons of experience dancing. Not poor judging. AoV was better that day in their eyes. Learn to accept it. Move on.
Bboy Raven I don't know a single one of those people. I don't have a preference over either team. I've never heard of either prior to a few days ago. I sense a bit of AoV fanboy in you, "Bboy." I can, though, appreciate a good competition. However, in terms of performance, AoV Was a good 8/10 in the dancing they actually did but a solid 10/10 for their silhouette performance. Their dance moves were good! Just, nothing too great. And they weren't too in sync with one another. All that said, last I checked this wasn't a shadow puppet competition. While I absolutely appreciate the coordination and creativity of the shadow performance, dancing was the priority of the competition. Had they not done the shadow thing, I truly believe The Company would have won, no doubt. But the judges decided to stop judging on dancing - the point of the competition - and rather more so on exaggerated somewhat rhythmic story telling. Like I said, AoV gave an exceptional performance, as did The Company. But not only were The Company's moves more complex and varied, they managed to stay so in sync and move so precisely that their performance looked *unreal*. That's not something I believe the judges took to mind. Basically, I'm saying AoV strayed from the point of the competition. Imagine if you went to a movie theater to see a film and you got to sit through 1 hour of your movie then have to endure 30 minutes of a silent, live interpretive dance about the rest of the film. Sure, it's cool, but you came for a movie.
PurpleDerpy Well you put on a performance when you dance, right? It's evident that AoV has the better performance. I hope you know that Bboy Raven is one of the dancers from The Company...However, The Company's choreography was not at all "complex". I mean, anyone else can hit the j12 better than them. We can agree to disagree about what the criteria is. AoV embraced the point of the competition in that they actually made a performance that incorperated different styles of dance (breaking, popping, locking, choreo) along with theatrics, storyline, and acrobatics. The company had a simple theme with crisp, clean choreo. That's about it. It was easy for the judges to pick the winner, even before the shadow section. The reason why The Company was so well known was due to a viral video of the floor section. Which was a complete sellout. We can all agree to disagree about who was first and second. Because in the end, there was a very prominent and utterly obvious reason why The Company stands at Second, and Academy of Villains stays at first.
***** Yeah, they had all that, but it was good at best. And furthermore, it's not just a performance competition. Otherwise you could have had a really talented mime. But it's not. It's a dance competition. You dance. 70% good dancing, 10% throwing somebody in the air, 20% shadow puppets =/= 100% excellent dancing.
True...I mean the only thing that wowed me about the Academy of Villains was the ending. I've never seen anyone actually use that prop as effectively as they did. However, holy shit The Company had me saying the word amazing every 15 seconds. Fucking Insane. The Company definitely won in my eyes.
Should have been first place. The only reason why The Academy of Villains won because of their creativity with the screen prop at the last part but other than that meh.
***** Yeah their props were probably what won them first place. Honestly though I thought the ending with the screen was kinda... meh. The part with the strings was definitely unique and amazing.
Or you just don't get that this is a dance competition where it takes into account variety, skill/complexity levels, musicality, creativity, not just "oh I thought these guys looked better, they should have won" As a whole AoV was superior, but all the dances were great.
I don't know if this 100% Correct, but I'm a huge fan of their work haha soo I'm pretty sure! Red Nose by Sage the Gemini - Choreography by Chris Banaga If I Ain't Got You by Alicia Keys - Choreography by Jolo Cabrera Hold On, We're Going Home (Violin Cover) by Peter Lee Johnson - Choreography by Andrew Nunez (Co director) D.A.N.C.E. by Justice - Choreography by TJ Andaya & Jeffrey Flores (Co director) Maria Maria by Santana - Choreography by Jason Rillera (Co director) They're also directed by Pat Cruz!
One thing you have to look at is the placement of the dancers too. The Company put on an amazing performance but their placement on the stage was either not symmetrical or off-center (Not all the time). There are other minor things to look at, like a few dancers taking a few extra steps and a few slow moves that just weren't in unison. The Academy of Villains had near perfect placement on the stage throughout the whole performance and had very very few noticeable errors. Personally, I was more captivated by The Company because of their amazing energy and sheer talent. BUT, I can see why The Academy of Villains won, they had great attention to detail, creativity, and really strong dances. I'm sure it was a tough call for Vibe to make on this one...
Ty Dolla $ign - Paranoid ft. B.o.B Sage The Gemini - Red Nose Alicia Keys - If I Ain't Got You Drake - Going Home (VIOLIN COVER) - Peter Lee Johnson Justice - D.A.N.C.E. Santana-Maria Maria :)
Bboy Raven not hate, just realization, anyone with any amount of intelligence can see the difference of coordination and skill between this and that poppy annoying light show performed by the academy of villains. peace out.
Bernard Manansala, I have no issues with your comment. paul sawyer, I have seen AoV live plenty of times. No need to insult me or my intelligence. They have plenty of coordination and skill. Watch their other videos if you don't believe me. Agree to disagree. ***** I don't know if you're trolling or not, but Academy of Villains is comprised of some of the most talented dancers in the country, including Pharside, who is one of the most talented choreographers I've ever seen.
No!! AOV Got 1st Place, they are deserving to win Because they are do all kinds of genre, Elements, impact,,Hype,,,it is Different other competitors,,,So very Versatile choreography,,, That's true,,
blink navarro AOV were good although not entirely original the companys was hella clean two different styles but personally i would have gone with the company
This group should had won the competition . They deserve to be in the first place . Creativity + amazing performance = PERFECT ! Oh well , they might not get the top place but I think they got the hearts of the crowd . iLoveyou The Company ! :)
Yup! I liked this a lot better than than those who one 1st place. I think the lines were clean, the dress was simple not based on theatrics. I loved the music more and too much tech stuff like the shadow dancing takes away from the real movement. There.. I said it!
The violin section had me bowing down, that was beautiful
I wanna know who that lead dancer was!!
Kelsy Hullihen
Me too!
Kelsy Hullihen I used that guy as my #MCM today, LOL
That guy's got so much charisma. I've been looking for him. Isn't he Andrew Nunez? (twitter.com/CompanyFAM)
Agreed, the footwork and energy was well executed.
This should have been 1st place. A decade later The Company’s performance has 12M views while Academy of Villains performance has only 4M.
This has been saved on my youtube page for years now. Absolute magic. It still irks me they didn't get their deserved 1st place. My god, I just LOVE that intro and ending. It's like DAAAAAMN.
Lovin this performance!!!!! I miss you guys!
Geeeez. I love The Company.
this was a 6 minute video that i spent 20 minutes watching because I kept replaying @_@
OMG HAYYYY LUAN!!!!!
So you watched it about 3 1/3 times? LoL!
Glad we're not the only ones.. even 4 months later
DON'T understand why they didn't win. That just shows you that the winner isn't always the best. My opinion. Love this group. Goosebumps the whole time I watched this, everytime I watch this. Thank you for dancing :)

Jesus christ that was so clean. This video gets better everytime I watch it
This is not only the most extreme case of synchronicity; that group was guided by the spirit of perfection.
I watch this video from 2014 till
2021. You got 1st place for me. I love every parts in this performance.
Definitely should've been first. I get dance competitions are about the flash and gimmicks, but I miss the part of just dancing like this. It made me want to put on my shoes and get back out there. Beyond dope and SO.EFFING.CLEAN.
2022, still believe this should’ve been first place. I still come back to this and it’s just so dang cool.

That intro tho...
This must be an Olympic sport, the amount of thought, passion, and coordination are absolutely exceptional. The choreographer must be an alien

Still for me the REAL Champions of the DANCE Competition. The other may have won the PROPS competition! great job The Company!
Felt like i was eating cake watching this.
i love cake..
I loved the first half so much. One of the best choreographed routines I ever seen. Should have been first place.
you are forever 1st place in my heart... LOL
The cleanest dance I have ever watched. And I have been dancing for 16 years. Screw the results, everyone who has an eye for actual dance and precision knows who the winner should have been. BRAVO.
this is freakin DOPE. i love The company one of my inspiration now !
I knew from watching the tech rehearsal that this was an award winning set!!! Much props to PAT CRUZ and The Company for an amazing performance! Clever concept, amazing musicality, and always true to your original style! Well deserved trophy!
The D.A.N.C.E part is my favorite. Man I wish I could do that
Just the most incredible dancing I've ever seen. I'm so wildly impressed. Please come to Portland OR so we can see you in person!

Beth Theobald I think they deserve 1st place wow. by far. better routine
so true they did such a great job
I think this is one of the best dances I have ever seen. I've easily watched it 100 times. Such skill, choreography, teamwork. Perfection!
haha you can hear me screaming and saying heyyyy :) i loved this piece.
This is... amazingly awesome. Best performance I've seen in years. I've watched it like 8 times today
Just had a 30 minute shower and still couldn't get as clean as them. goddamn!
Love the intro and choreo at 4:00. Awesome performance.

BEYOND awesome! THE best synchronized dancing I've ever seen! Wow. I cannot stop watching..:)It wasn't just a bunch a peeps methodically jumping around- there's a soulfulness in the way they move- LOVE this group!
TheCompanys sets never get old. Too intricate and too much detail.
i think I've watched this like 10 times now and its still amazing.
Easily my favorite. So dope!
Remarkably precise and an excellent demonstration of musicality...
Dang The Company you guys are something else! This is so dope! :o
Got the chills for the 'If I Aint Got You' piece.
Superrrr creatiiiiiiive
The performance for the first song was the best imo. Everything else was really cool and took a lot of talent but I think the first part they should have saved for last for the finale wow factor.
Academy of Villains did that. I truly believe The Company should have won but it was probably just poor judges.
Zulu Gremin. Ryan Feng. Lando Wilkins. Jillian Meyers. Courtney Miller. JoJo Diggs. Lot of talented judges from various teams with tons of experience dancing. Not poor judging. AoV was better that day in their eyes. Learn to accept it. Move on.
Bboy Raven
I don't know a single one of those people.
I don't have a preference over either team.
I've never heard of either prior to a few days ago.
I sense a bit of AoV fanboy in you, "Bboy."
I can, though, appreciate a good competition.
PurpleDerpy Damn. Well said.
PurpleDerpy
Well you put on a performance when you dance, right?
You guys are monsters, that musicality is soooo intricate. I can't even...
What the hell. The first row video of this group has been blocked from being viewed in my country :(
+Rhiannon Oyape You can always use the youtube to mp4 converter, download then watch :)
+23hkgrl Thank you! (:
+23hkgrl omg you changed my life thank you
+Gene Kim haha glad I could help! :)
Precision. Harmonization. Standing Ovation!
Man, imagine if that person didn't page Ms. Green at the beginning...We would have never seen this set. #MindBlown
i didn't even finish the first place video, but i watched this for like 5 times? creative, catchy, grooovvvy, just love it!
They should have won first place their formations and timing were so much better than that crew that won.
True...I mean the only thing that wowed me about the Academy of Villains was the ending. I've never seen anyone actually use that prop as effectively as they did. However, holy shit The Company had me saying the word amazing every 15 seconds. Fucking Insane.
The Company definitely won in my eyes.
if you still watch this you are a Legend
Should have been first place. The only reason why The Academy of Villains won because of their creativity with the screen prop at the last part but other than that meh.
Agreed, Academy felt way to hectic. The company was much smoother and didn't feel all over the place.
Excactly my thoughts.
***** Yeah their props were probably what won them first place. Honestly though I thought the ending with the screen was kinda... meh. The part with the strings was definitely unique and amazing.
Or you just don't get that this is a dance competition where it takes into account variety, skill/complexity levels, musicality, creativity, not just "oh I thought these guys looked better, they should have won"
As a whole AoV was superior, but all the dances were great.
***** Their whole dance was on a more complex level and told a whole story.
I don't know if this 100% Correct, but I'm a huge fan of their work haha soo I'm pretty sure!

think they deserved 1st place!
i saw the video for the first place winners and i think you guys deserved first place completely, great great job!!!
I WANNA BE IN THAT CLASS.
Wowwww... That was amazing they were sharp on the beats but also their groove was the same and on point
These should have been 1st.
Wow, fantastic!! Never seen something like this. Congrats from Brazil!
Cheetahjo ya ze positioning was more clearer
This is a first place performance....so clean!! Excellent job
Second place my ass.
Incredible!! I so Enjoyed watching you dance!
What are the songs used in this??

Mince K.H Thanks ever so much, luv!
2021 , still the best dance routine I’ve ever seen👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
At 5:00 when that one dude hits the nae nae...
The Company you guys are amazing!!! I loved your performance best, and I think you should've got the first place. Keep up the awesome work!!!!
The Company got robbed by a gimmick.
#DrinkingThatHaterade
Bboy Raven No, these guys are actually much better than those who were 1st, these guys can dance!
Bboy Raven not hate, just realization, anyone with any amount of intelligence can see the difference of coordination and skill between this and that poppy annoying light show performed by the academy of villains. peace out.
Bboy Raven, no Hate involved here. I just preferred Company's performance as a whole over Academy's. As simple as that.
Is it weird if I say this gave me the chills? Lol. This is amazing. I've always wanted to be in something like this.
2nd Place? Blame it on 2:38
Amazing. Just amazing. Speechless from England!
the crew that got first place did a magic show not a dance performance... the company should have gotten 1st
agree, much cleaner technique with the company
Patrick Hogan You can't just pick a group to be first place on how clean they are
I agree.. The company and their choreography and movement were so much better then AOV. All in sync, so sharp and clean.
There.. I said it!
Perfect synchro.
U guys really deservered the first place
They should make a tutorial video for this
(Thumbs up if you agree) HAHA
I taught myself (terribly) the first half of "If I Ain't Got You" haha.
I really wanna learn their dance!!!!!!
Where you from? You should take their dance classes in San Francisco :P
roaddict4life From OC area, I totally would if I was in the SF area haha.
I agree. I think these guys should be the champion. The synchronization was undoubtedly spot on. They are winners in any case.
