Great job explaining everything and it turned out beautifully. Thanks for not rambling on and on like so many people do. It was informative & fun to watch!
Mate!! You’re a bloody genius! I’m staying up way too late watching all your vids! Best van build channel by far. Thanks for the inspiration and ideas 🤙🏼
We really wanted to make it as homely as possible. As we will be living in it. But we do have great aspirations to build a tiny house on day so you might even get to see that build process too!
Thanks for making the videos, they are superb. Your rear door opening mechanism is genius. I am going steal that idea. Your van is stunning. Good luck and happy trails.
I have watched your videos at least 3 times each. I have learnt so so much from the amount of detail you go into. I’m about to buy my first van and do it myself. Scary but exciting times ahead. Thanks so much for all your time and effort you put in with your videos. Very my appreciated :)
@@saltyvanventures oh amazing I’m also in Sydney. The shire to be exact. 100% you could totally run classes for beginners. I would pay for that for sure :) I’d love to pay you to help me set up my electrical or even pay you to help me buy what’s needed for my van. Even just running a mini fridge and a water pump etc is very confusing to me.

Thank you! I was planning on driving it over a weigh bridge in the next week but here in Sydney we have just gone into lock down so it will have to wait a bit longer. From my calculations though with the payload of around 1200kg to play with I wouldn't be over the 3550kg. Well i'm hoping anyway!
I love your vids mate, I built my van a few years ago but have used a few of your tricks in an upgrade I did lately. Can you please tell me what type of vehicle you got the petrol pull lever off. Cheers Troy
Keep going back to your vids over and over again. Simply the best. And soo good that you're in Oz so that I can source all the same bits of kit. Can you tell me what model van you got - is it post 2014 or one of the older ones. Keen to understand which one you chose and why (and any tips on what to look for/avoid). Thx heaps
Thanks again! We have a 2014 VO high roof long wheel base. I will make a video about why we chose this van but one of the main reasons was it is the only van it it's length category that i could stand up in. It's a couple of inches higher inside than sprinters, crafters ect.
@@saltyvanventures Hey fella. Thx for response. I'm looking at getting the VM LWB High roof version as its just that much cheaper although I do have some concerns over the reliability of the CRD diesels. Is there any way to contribute to your channel as I feel like I'm getting heaps of value without returning the favour?
@@saltyvanventures Yep. I've heard same which makes me a bit nervous but the premium for a VO seems very high. BTW did you cover off the front bulkhead/door into the cab in any of your vids - keen to find out how you did it and what insulation you used? Thx fella
Hey Marcel!! your ideas are incredible!! I need some help!... where did you get the petrol lever? I've trying to find it on facebook/google, etc and I can't get with anything like yours! Some tips on where to look would be highly appreciated it!
Roller blinds look nice from the inside but doesn’t block interior like from being seen, therefore not that stealth, ps not intended as hate, love your channel, just my opinion
I mean we're not trying to be stealth but you would be surprised how well these actually black out the light. I have tested it and I can tell you there is so little light that comes out through the sides that you would not even notice from the outside.
Hey mate was wondering if you could answer some questions for me.. did you use sika flex to fix your timber strips and did you use any screws? If so what screws did you use?
Pine is a relatively light weight wood and more or less the cheapest too. If money wasn't an issue than cedar (my favorite wood) is much lighter and smells amazing. It's very expensive in Australia (cost me $400 just to do the ceiling ) but I believe much cheaper in north america and canada
And you added no side flares? Ok going to have to see if I can do the same. Your build videos are great and I will be referencing them when I start my build. Ordering a new transit van this month but will take months to get it.
No flares, Just maximised the van walls by only laying a thin layer of insulation and plywood to the bed walls. check out the earlier videos where I show how its all built
When you look through the window can you see the inside of the wood frame or does it just look blacked out? Also did you scribe the inside wood frame to touch straight up against the glass or is there a small gap there? Absolutely love the idea you have done with the fuel lever!
Stumbled across your channel after watching a million Uk van builds. What you cant do with tree wood isnt worth talking about. Disappointed you didn't clad the wheels though.
@@saltyvanventures I hope you like a Lotta painting in the future. Any wood in a Van gets banged and cuffed up a lot. Its like having painted walls in a playroom for kids. This is coming from a van builder.

Cheers mate!
That looks really cool. I liked the fix for the door opener too, very clever.
I'm glad you like it Yes i'm stoked the little lever worked!
love your video's. This is going to be my next job on my transit. Thanks for posting.
Glad it was helpful. Good luck with the task ☺️
Great idea with the custom blinds
Yeh they work a treat!
How did you deal with wood to glas contact? Is there a small gap between the frame and the glas? Or did you pad it in some way?
Yes a left about a 5mm gap around the glass
Great job, great video in the process of picking my van and building myself you have given me a reality check beautifully ❤ thank you 😊
Awesome! Thank you! All the best with your build

I used liquid nails in places as well as self drilling metal screws.
Heya! Just wondering how you tidied the edges? We’ve done a similar thing on our doors and when you stand side-on you can see the battens and gaps..
I’ve made a whole video on that topic actually. Did you find it?
This is so sick!
Is there a certain wood that isn’t too heavy for gas mileage sake?

What did you fix to the door to fix your cladding too? 😮
Thin strips of pine

12mm? How did you solve the curvature problems? thank you 😊
How thick is the wood you used to frame it?
12mm ply
How tall are you and can you sleep sideways in your van? I’m in the starting planning phase of my build.
I'm, 6"3'. Yes I can, More so when I sleep slightly on an angle

No you cant see the frame from outside due to the tint. Yes i left a small gap between the frame and the glass as to not be touching the glass.
