    I'm not sure Lilith was as detached from his as everyone thinks. Whem he banned her to the void for the second time her first rhought on seeing him was on how much she both hated and desired him, as for D4 I hope he gets a redemption arc, I'm sick of the revolving door that is falling angels

    No,I don't think he's an idiot. Instead I think of him as a prideful warrior that was blinded by the hope of peace and love. He looked for the best solution in ending the never-ending war for control only to be blindsided by one of the worst outcomes. I think idiot is a very harsh word for someone who just wanted change. He is more of a hopeful fool.

  • @thepickles8833

    He’s definitely the Prometheus of the series, doomed by his own cleverness and punished for pursuing new ideas. I pity him, for I think he was so tired of the eternal war that anything new was embraced without question. He probably should’ve distrusted Lilith from his experience but he wanted his relationship with her to be real so badly and he deluded himself into believing it because he was feeling utterly hopeless.

At the sametime this pure desire from war lead from one thing to another, and sometimes it's inescapable if fate is a dictator who favors endless and pointless war. Inarius in the end was defeated by the will of universal stupidity, not his own.

    A few corrections, first Inarius was aware of Uldyssiun from the start and he was actively letting Lilith manipulate him as a way to over-throw the Triune.
    Both characters are master manipulators and while Inarius had the power to handle nearly any foe he always saw it beneath him to act directly.
    Second was that Lilith also loved Inarius which was confirmed in the 2nd book of the Sin War that she desired him, which would indicate their
    love is mutual in at least some capacity. Even if it did start out as a way to manipulate him it clearly grew into something more.
    Inarius made mistakes no question, but they are very few and arguably rather minor mistakes as his power was so great by the end of the Sin Wars
    that he very likely could have dealt with both the High Heavens and Burning Hell's.
    His only major mistake he had was underestimating Uldyssian, which in fairness he is potentially responsible for the creation of the Diablo Universe
    or at the very least the World Stone.

      @@TailsoftheBlade its certainly debatable if it's love or desire, however the paragraph is written from Lilith perspective so it's both the author telling us this but simply how Lilith identified the emotion it doesn't mean she's correct.
      But as the old saying goes " the opposite of love is indifference not hatred" , love and hatred are two sides of the same coin and can be flipped just as easily.
      And Lilith without question hates Inarius.

    Inarius is kind of a terribly tragic character when you think about it. At first, I kind of hated him as this arrogant god complex Angel. But after thinking it over a little, the guy kind of got completely screwed for most of his life. Born into an endless war that brings nothing but death and pain with no reward and no end in sight, his commander(Tyrael) basically ignores him, and the ONLY being in the universe he can relate to or who bothers to listen to him happens to be a demonic lesser evil and the daughter of the worst prime.
    He tries to do something good, creating a place where refugees from the eternal conflict can escape the endless death and misery of their existence and live in peace, and tries to start a little family with his demon wife. His kids end up being better than them, and his new friends in sanctuary get scared and his wife ends up slaughtering all of them. What is the guy supposed to do? Now heaven and hell want him dead, his wife is a psychopath, his kids could bring about the end of existence, so he has to banish his lover. He tries to set it right by weakening his kids, so they dont pose as much of a threat to the balance, but then he just gets beat up and sent to be tortured in hell for a few thousand years, only to be released in a world where his angry wife is back, and his son thinks he's a tool.
    He tries to put things right in the eyes of his brethren and ditch the shit hole his world has become, but they tell him to kick rocks and he gets murdered and likely turned into a demon. The guy has had kind of a rough go from the start, it kind of stands to reason why he was such a dick to everyone.

    These lore guides are great, as is the narration, but the titles are flawed. The titles push viewers to assume a bias in regards to judging the intellect of the characters involved in Diablo series that are actually not describable as "genius" or "idiocy". For example pride, selfishness (Inarius can be described as selfish in some respects) and arrogance are not signs of low cognitive abilities but more so signs of internal moral character flaws.

      @@keytendegraef982 Diablo's lore mentions five archangels spawned from the Crystal Arch, no more, no less, but five: Imperius, Tyrael, Malthael, Itherael and Auriel. Inarius was never called an archangel in the Sin War trilogy, and he was also Tyrael's subordinate, so it wouldn't make sense for one archangel to serve another. If they die, they reborn as completely new entities. This means no angel can be elected to be an archangel because archangels are always reborn and there are always five of them.
      In the article about Diablo IV editions, Inarius is suddenly, without explanation, called an archangel:
      "Eons after her exile, her summoning ushers in an age of darkness and hatred. Inarius, former archangel of the High Heavens, has also returned to the world he and Lilith created together. The two will once again cross paths, and what was built is now at risk of destruction."
      Source: news.blizzard.com/en-us/diablo4/23880208/meet-your-maker-on-june-6-pre-purchase-diablo-iv
      Either another retcon is coming up, or the authors of the article believed in mindlessly repeated fakes that Inarius is an archangel.

      @@ZawiszaTheBlack Retcon or not, Inarius is now considered an archangel. He's also not the only archangel outside of the council; search up Yaerius. So I'm guessing they're moving away from archangel as just a classification of angels in the Angiris Council to being a second higher, "purer" type of angel.

    • @ZawiszaTheBlack
      @ZawiszaTheBlack Год назад

      @@grayleonhardt8631 No he is not. He was called that ONLY in the marketing materials, and nowhere in the lore, not even in the game itself. Yaerius is possibly a fictitious archangel impersonated by someone else, or an ordinary angel who claimed to be an archangel to bring the Zakarum religion into the Sanctuary.

    • @grayleonhardt8631
      @grayleonhardt8631 Год назад

      @@ZawiszaTheBlack Marketing materials are official sources, hence Inarius' status as an archangel is canon from a franchise standpoint. Diablo 4 is yet to be released, and based on how he's regularly being considered as an archangel nowadays, from fans to Blizzard itself, that might be the case in game too.
      Also in the original Diablo 1 lore, Inarius was literally stated to be an archangel. Many things have been retconned since then, so Blizzard seems to be going back to their roots.

    I hope that Diablo 4 will have a more morally gray take on the whole good and evil thing and Lilith will end up being the right choice for humanity and Inarius will return and try to enact the thing he thought of long ago of destroying the nephalem. If anything Inarius was always the selfish one in the story, he wanted to escape the war so he could live for himself with Lilith but Lilith wanted to end the war with the help of her children.
