I understand that they set a time limit for the game for them to schedule their trip. But I think the viewing experience would be better if everyone would have an set amount of tries. So for example all three would be the hider two times.
Yes!!
I think going Adam-Ben-Sam-Sam-Ben-Adam would be the most fair.
Adam was in huge disadvantage in first round, not being able to learn from others. Now he has a chance.
@@Talk3rs I like that

the way I kept YELLING at Sam to close his fckn umbrella!!! it was such a clear giveaway!
Its literally impossible to find him if he did that, especially not by ben and adam
I think if he was closer to Ben's time he might've done that but given he was still 2 and a half hours off, my guess is by the time Adam and Ben got that close he kind of wanted to be found since he already had a strong second place time and was probably cold/hungry@@dhpz

@@brianlupariello3443 100%. He was not going to catch Ben so why prolong it?
@@thesuperknot_I think you're vastly underestimating how difficult it is to find someone in the woods.
Without large identifying marks or questions it would take weeks or months, so they would have had to ask questions repeatedly.
If that got him any curse that forces them to buy something they'd have to walk like 30 minutes each way out of and back into the woods.
Sam having a small existential crisis, questioning if Ben and Adam were lucky or if he did something wrong is priceless.
He certainly didn’t pick perfectly, because obviously they were sprinting through epilating big city after big city his world inevitably be gotten to quickly with how aggressive they played. But then his hiding spot. If he prepared better and didn’t want to be caught they would have needed to launch a missing persons report.
I love how hard Sam tries to make it a Choo Choo Chew segment, but it ends up always as a Snack Zone segment
I mean, consider who edits this show. Sam is never going to get a CCC:D segment in as is unless the Ben and Adam let him do it.
Choo Choo Chew is temporary; The Snack Zone is eternal.
The amount of bad luck on Sam’s part is pretty incredible 😂 He did save it nicely by picking a great hiding spot
Idk I think it was moreso that picking a big place was not a good idea. Yes the hiding spot is better but it's going to be way easier to find the general location. And with all the cheap precision questions finding the exact spot is faster than searching up and down the country.
@@XMysticHerox they mentioned on The Layover that they wouldn’t have known he was in Winterthur if he hadn’t cursed them there. So it could have worked, had he played it better
rolling a 9 with 4 dice is crazy
and if he saved up his dice he could've rolled at least 6, which with his rolls wouldn't have been good either but theoretically rolling them at a different time would've been completely different numbers, so who knows, he might've been able to move.@@wenchbyatt
to me it seems like none of the curses are even close to being able to pick a completely new hiding spot so I would've gambled all in on saving up for 6 dice and either forced them to use less questions to stay under the 300 threshold or forcing them to allow a 6 dice roll
Ben: evades seekers for 9 and a half hours, including a few hours where they're in his town and STILL couldn't find him.
Also Ben: runs straight into a sign
Edit: I get that it was dark and Ben couldn't probably see the pole. I'm just joking that something like this is just so fitting to happen to Ben

Sam fucked up so hard when he responded to the 5 mile radar with panic. They probably would've wasted more time on exploring all the smaller surrounding towns if he didn't respond with the frowning emoji and the "instant" curse. 23:55 there was actually a problem in the mid 20th century that Swiss cheese started losing its holes and no one knew why. It turned out that the milk was too clean, as it was dust and debris in the milk that acted as the nucleation point for the bubbles to form. After this discovery they started adding sterilized dust to the milk before they made the cheese in order to keep the classic look
Great fun fact, thanks
That's half as interesting
This is one of my favorite seasons. In some seasons there's always one clear smart play or route. There are so many viable options in this situation, they can get creative
This video is averaging a comment faster than 1 every 6 seconds
Further, there are so many factors that can go randomly right or wrong that people are really kept guessing. This was a great season that would be great to see more of. Even if it is in the same location there is a lot of opportunity left to explore, guest teams, etc.
Agreed, every single season were bangers but this swiss shit was unreal
yeah the format really encourages smart play and the early/middle game part are really interesting cuz they really convey this sort of "detective" set
The cool thing is trying to geoguess them. Trying to figure out, if they are doing good or bad moves.
Could not find Sams location based on what I saw last week, but now found Adam (it was quite easy with the cut IMO).
Ben and Adam: Can we get some swiss cheese?
Swiss cheese vendor: yeah we just call it cheese here...
As a swiss person this was so absurd, i mean we have like over 500 different cheeses or even more and like the swiss cheese for americans is like an ementaler which is one of the worst cheeses we have here 😅
A general theme in Jet Lag seems to be that Sam does a lot of thinking and planning beforehand, and it basically never works out lol
Sam thriving in nature while the others act like it physically hurts them is amazing
Bro Sam is in the sixth biggest city in switzerland and the second biggest in this canton and he asks: how did they guess this city.
They didn't. They were just going that way anyways. And then when Sam cursed them, that was the giveaway.

I think that the first half went so good for Ben and Adam because they were thinking "what would I do if I were Sam". The second half they stopped thinking like him and couldn't find him
To be fair Ben did say it would be a Sam move to go to a forest, but then they proceeded to not go to the biggest forest for multiple hours.
Tbf, the answer was "hide in the woods" which leaves a pretty big area lmao
They were not doing that. They were trying to knock out half of the options with every question. They ended up looking around for a lot of hours because he was hiding in a forest. Considering Sam with Adam couldn’t find Ben in a small town for an even longer time I’m not sure thinking like Sam would help dude 💀

@@bluestar2059 True, but to be fair it was fun to watch him get snuffed out in like an hour. Great late game though
I love how Sam always thinks everything out and then loses to luck
By my rough math, there’s about a 90% chance that the sum of 4 die rolls is greater than 9. Sam was unlucky enough to be in the bottom 10% of possibilities.
I know math lmao but nice that you've done it
I've been talking more about the overall side of things but nice comment 👍👍👍
Not only was the dice roll unlucky, but his opponents were informed of their cheese curse when they were across the street from a cheese shop.
Genuinely I think he picks a place then makes up rationale about why it’s good.
Fun fact, Switzerland has over 500 variations of cheese that could be classified as "swiss cheese" cause they all originate in Switzerland. For example Gruyère is also a swiss cheese. Emmentaler is the iconic "swiss cheese" but there are so many swiss cheeses that look the exact same. Many towns have their own signature cheese as well.
Another fun fact (yes, I‘m Swiss): we used to have a cheese subscription where you get 5 different cheeses every month including a fact sheet to every cheese, what it is and who produced it.
gruyere is a Swiss cheese but it's not Swiss cheese.
@@IanHicksonyou might not know, but you just said the exact same thing as OP
Wrong, there are over 700 cheese variants in Switzerland
@@Schnabulation God I wish that was still a thing. I just get to eat the cheeses in my region :/
Sam had bad luck with the dices, but he made some big blunders:
1) Winterthur is the place every train running from Zürich northeast stops, so the seakers would pass it and likely stop there even if they don't know yet where Sam is
2) He gave away that he is near by useing multiple dices. One dice would have been like: "You have to figure out what train to take now, but if you want to ask a question, you'll miss it and loose half an hour"
3) he waited to long for his final curse. It would have been cleverer to use some when they were at the wrong forest and hopeing they have to go back to a shop to lift the curse so they loose more time before they ask the precice questions. Or use it when they were deep in the woods so they loose track where they searched and where not.
So far noone in this game has tried to lure the seekers to wrong conclusions by timeing the curses
Those curses are badly designed anyway. For one, most of them only delay asking a question, which is mostly useless. If you do it from afar, the delay is minor (as seen with the cheese one); if you do it from nearby, they can be ignored and even give a hint. That gets worsened by them being random, so you can't even use them strategically. In addition, they are costly, and the seekers can spam plenty of questions until the hider has enough points to afford enough dice to even have a chance to get a good one.
A curse deck like the tasks in the previous season would work better. 3 random ones available to buy with points. This also would introduce more point-budgeting for the seekers, as they know which curses they unlock when they ask questions.
@@HenryLoenwind I think they didn't take into account the actual probabilities of things, they're thinking of coins like "oh no 17 onwards are pretty good" but not thinking that 4 dice only give a 23% chance of a 17 onwards. really either way too, instead of doing a "change hiding place" curse which probably isn't that good anyway because how long of a time limit would they really get for it, they already know where you are roughly, how far can you get in 30 mins or however much bonus they'd get - it's probably more advantageous to just roll the 4 dice separately and get 4 mini distraction curses. like the counting to 15 seconds thing you can get with one die, if they mess that up then they have to wait 5 minutes. if they mess that up 3 times they basically lost an entire question period. just wait 25 minutes since their last question and spring a curse, you might be able to set them back 1 question each time. and that's 6 times in this case if he had 6 rolls. an extra 3 hours would probably be victory here
I kinda hope Ben sticks the win with his absolute goober energy. But I also hope Adam can make a come back at the last minute
I know the answer... 🤫🤫🤫

Well Ben and Adam ARE the editors.

Snack zone > Choo Choo Chew Derailed
Let's be honest. This is the only opportunity in this season to feature Snack Zone, and the joke was the fact that the editors of Jet Lag is two people. One that seems to like castles, and one that sat under a playground slide. Sorry Sam. Choo Choo Chew Derailed got derivatively derailed by your own editors, and your competitors for that matter. 😂
Adam and Ben got no chill 🤣
This is by far the best season of jet lag. This needs to be played again, like the tag in Europe. I would suggest 6 days instead of 4 so each runner can have 2 runs because each run is about a day long.
Maybe in another country like Germany if they had more days?
I’d say a week or 8 days to be safe
@@andybtw1586 I fear the Deutsche Bahn would be too much of a wild card :/
I'm Swiss so I would love to see another Swiss season tbh, maybe with longer hiding periods so they can go into other linguistic regions as well (but that would probably require getting rid of some questions such as the rhyming one, I guess), + also two runs for everyone, that'd be dope
Sam cannot do that because he has other channels- Wendover Productions and Half as Interesting (HAI) to work on as well.
I love how they're so anxious about being at a playground, whereas I feel like that's not weird at all in Europe. Someone squatting under a slide for hours, yes, but that would be creepy no matter where. But teenagers and young(ish) adults sit on playgrounds all the time as long as they don't get in the way of any kids. Those places have a calm energy and, most importantly, ample comfortable sitting accommodations.
Same xD i wrote a comment last video that it is okey as long as they don‘t kidnap the kids xD i‘m sure they‘re considered public by law which means anyone is allowed at the playground ^^
@@daskleineblaue.especially if there are no children at the playground
This is a great season but I feel like the day limit doesn’t really help the strategy, it should’ve been everyone gets 2 chances at hiding to increase tension on the last guy idk
Thinking about it, if they did 5 days and shortened the hiding period for the 2nd turns I think they could have made a more exciting game. A lot of the precision questions are also not useful if they don't force hiders to stay within a certain distance of a marked street.
I agree, but they like limiting themselves by days, for scheduling I assume. Plus, it seems fair to give Adam one more chance, since he didn't have a chance to learn from the mistakes of others how to hide.
@@jkhoover Adam's hiding spot also felt influenced by how good it looked as a teaser and thumbnail for the season as a whole.
@@Citizen5101 I'm sure he was thinking about thumbnails when choosing his spot.

Nuh uh

What I want is for him to get back into Second Place. It will drive Adam crazy.
Well you were right...but as it turns out. Luck runs both ways! ;)
I wish these challenges weren't just a set amount of time, but for example 2 or 3 runs for each contestant. Feels way more fair
3 runs could have taken 2 weeks. That's a very long time playing hide and seek non-stop.
Yeah, Sam is at a pretty huge disadvantage just for being the third hider (It was / should've been clear he likely wouldn't get a second chance in most cases beforehand). I guess you can balance that out with other solo seasons where Sam in turn is the first runner etc.
In general, more time probably isn't possible, though. Jet Lag seems really, really stressful at times and I doubt they could go for much longer without kinda being burnt out. Plus they all have regular lives too, other things to do, the budget isn't infinite and that would require a lot more editing afterwards.
@@Mimi.1001 to be honest, each of the 3 people are getting one clear run, so it is pretty fair. Ben likely won't get another run and although Adam gets two, in his first run the seekers could start from a major locality giving them a huge range of options from the outset. Whereas in the subsequent runs although both the hider and the seekers have to waste time getting out of the previous hiders hiding spot and this has proven to be more of an advantage to the hider as they know where they are going.

Edit: Forgot to ask, is Sam's hiding spot safe? Are there any wildlife that could have tried to kill or eat him when he was hiding?
there'S no deadly wildlife that close to the city, usually they're on alp foothills or a natural reserve
There’s not that much dangerous wildlife in continental Europe in general and especially that close to a city, I’ve run in Swiss woods that looked similar, the only predator I ever saw was a fox
I’m not sure, but I would assume it’s generally safe. I live in a similar sized city and the woods around here are decently safe. There are bears and coyotes but they keep to themselves and away from any cities for the most part
from my very American experience anything capable of killing you is scared of you. the only circumstances i can think of are the Swiss equivalent of rattlesnakes, something starving half to death, or if a baby bear came to play with him.
Yes Sam's spot is safe. In summer the biggest danger in swiss forests are ticks, or more the diseases they transmit, but since this was filmed in december this isn't a problem. Technically boars could be a threat but unless you make them angry they shouldn't do anything to you, that is if you even see one in the first place. I usually go to the woods about 1-2 times a week for years now and I have never seen a boar and I also know very few people who actually have seen one. So boars aren't a concerning problem.
The only wildlife that you are somewhat likely to encopunter are deers but these have run away from you before you can even say that you saw one. There currently are some wolfs in our forrest but (so far) there has never been an accident with a human.

From what I have seen of the series I think it might make sense for the precision questions to cost more since it would make the endgame more interesting if curses were flying
I can't believe it took them 5.5 hours after arriving in the correct town to find Sam. Incredible!
Hey Jet Lag team, I have no idea if you're going to see this but I just wanna say how much I appreciate ya'lls content. Specifically today- I was in a bad car accident yesterday and being able to watch this new episode while I rest has really made me feel better despite my condition. You guys are always the highlight of my week and I'm so happy I found your channel, what you do is amazing. Thank you :)
Hope you are able to make a quick recovery, sending healing vibes and emotional support frogs your way! 🐸❤

Same ngl
glad to see you then.
Shouldn't have limited this to 4 days. Should have limited this to 2 chances each, with incredibly powerful questions becoming available after 8 or 10 hours. Questions like "how many feet are we away from you at this given moment?" "Standing 30 feet away, take a picture of the nearest building (if it's further away, take the picture anyways)."
Garbage idea
I was fully convinced the episode was gona end when they said "is sam's umbrella over there?" Lmao i was never so fooled by an youtube video
“Have you seen our friend? A blond man?” Not a very helpful question in Switzerland
Big brain move would be to hide in the same city as Sam was hiding while they think he took off as far away as possible
as someone from switzerliand, this series is really fun looking at all the places I have been before and you guys butchering all the town and city names. Well done video love the series
You guys! 1. Class train tickets in Switzerland? Must be going well!
The audacity with the cheese😤🤣
please do this hide and seek game again...this series is so soooo good than the other jet lag series
For me it's between this and tag, obviously they've done tag twice, at some point they'll need to do this again
“There’s a cheese shop right there” I think that’s one of the best evidences of ben’s luck if the whole previous episode wasn’t enough 😂
I am from Winterthur it’s so funny to recognise all the places 😂
Same.
Been living here for decades and was in boyscouts for 20y, but even I have never been in that part of the forests. Stellar move, Sam!
LETS GO ITS JETLAG DAY
I‘m surprised none of them thought of buying a bush suit and going to the largest forest nearby.
That would be such an Adam move.
Though Ben is rather camouflaged by his white clothes this series, he just forgot to hide out in a snowy are like Adam did in the first run.
This madman! Without spoilers, from where he left the Train, to the location at the end, you usually have 19 minutes to walk. He did it in 9 minutes and 20 seconds!
Hear me out: The next season of Jet Lag should be National Park Lockout.
All 63 United States national parks, and the first team to 32 wins. Once a park has been claimed, the other team can only get it unless they challenge it (like in one of the earlier seasons). Throw in some classic Jet Lag challenges and curses, and you’ve got a new season.
Sounds like a great idea for a future season, but I am pretty sure the next season is already set and done (They teased it on social media). It's probably going to be in Australia and Toby returns as Sam's partner, so potentially similar to the Race across New Zealand (Although Australia is much bigger, even if they go like north to south). :D
Thank you (as always) for your effort with subtitles/closed captions - they're always WAY above the standard found on youtube
Ben and Adam standing at a playground at 7:30 am, in dark 💀
Awww I used to live in Winterthur and seeing it was bringing all the memories... This got to be my favorite season!
23:16 I feel so bad for Sam. Bro rolled 4 dice and got a 9. I’m so sorry sam
Spoiler blocker ❤
I love you brother
THE HERO WE NEED
Thank you!
I love you
Thank you my good sir, thank you indeed
Im pretty mad about the fact that Sam decided to leave his umbrella open, taking into account how visible it was from many places
Honestly at that point I think he was sure he wasn’t going to win first, so being cold and hungry he just wanted to be caught as soon as possible. That, or the cold and hunger made him forget to close it.
Honestly, knowing how cold Switzerland could be, sitting for hours wet and not moving would be miserable.
@@Kaebuki Correct
I bet Sam had an inner monologue like "The INSANE logistics of hiding in a small Swiss city"
I adore how Sam always considers all options before losing to fate.
The bad luck Sam had with the dice really annoyed me man. I wish he got to use some deadly curses to hold them off even longer and make them go back into town possibly at the very end
He got two 1, two 2 and two 3. Not a single dice roll was above 3. Also the others went straight to his hiding city. At least he got lucky with the McDonald and the a-road.
@@benrex7775 yeah absolutely terrible luck
apart from not putting his umbrella away when they got close, and arguably hiding near a pretty large suburban area, Sam's run was pretty flawless, he just got fucked over by horrible luck, with Ben and Adam whittling his location down so soon and his horrific dice rolls.
BABE WAKE UP!!! ANOTHER EPISODE OF JET LAGGED IS OUT!!!
I have Nebula, but only remember to check it when the notification for the previous episode appears on RUclips!
@@steverob5 lmao same
Just watched the next episode on Nebula. Great season. Something about hide and seek clicked better for me than the other formats. Although nothing will probably ever beat the Photo Booth moment.
For me who lives in Winterthur, this was a lot of fun. One question that popped in my mind all the time: Are busses not allowed? Many routes could have been shortened severly.
That was what i was thinking; walking for a hour? Who's got time for that?
Well, unless you want to or go strolling through an area or something like that, but _not_ when you're in a hurry.
Maybe they don't have passes for local transit and its too much of a hassle to buy tickets from the driver or a ticket machine? I don't know how the fare system works in Winterthur.
@@hendrikhelsper6781there's a simple gps based check-in/check-out ticket app that works with practically all public transport in the country: trains, trams, buses, even most ships and some cable cars.
@@hendrikhelsper6781 Maybe. However, you can purchase various passes that permit the use of all public transport throughout the entire country. Since they traveled first class on the train, it seems unlikely that money was the issue, so any pass would make sense. Perhaps next time :)
it may have been that they would be able to more comfortably film on trains since it can be assumed more people would be taking busses. less people on trains meaning less people being bothered in their day to day while they play this game.
Not me knowing the next 51 minutes are the best of my day 🤣
"There's a cheese shop right there!" got me dying
I always walk the dog near your hiding place, and the Töss train station is my stop.
It's a really small world.
The season has been interesting so far, but if you do the concept again (which i hope you do), I'd change it to a certain number of attempt/people rather than "as many as we can squeeze in", makes it all about each run's quality and giving everyone multiple chance
This game is the ultimate definition of "it's super funny when it's not you". Especially for the seekers! Great video as always 😊
I would have liked if you all got (at least) one equal chance from the same starting position, and have the hiding time be long enough so the entire country can be used
Sam inadvertently kicking Ben and Adam out of the coffee shop they were hoping to stop in to go get cheese was hilarious… and then “there’s a cheese shop right there!”😂
Sam is always pulling the most rules lawyering shit possible. He literaly just plucked himself down in the middle of the freaking woods.
Sam: “So, I guess this is an impromptu episode of Choo Choo Chew: Derailed, DEFINITELY not the Snack Zone”
Ben/Adam while editing: “Nuh Uh”
Proceeds to play Snack Zone intro.
