"Taterheads"! 🤣 I just don't understand the BT product only folks. Snagged a Stagg over the summer and it's..ok. Just had a pour tonight and meh. Honestly, ER10 at $35 in PA is likely the only bottle I'd pickup again. Sagamore has my favor and the 9yr is phenomenal. If I can get another for backup I will. Old Overholt 11 is so good also. So many options if the taterheads can stop tatering. And agree 2024 the year of the Rye Revival.
Haha absolutely agree. Eagle rare is great but beyond that everything else is way overhyped other legacy distilleries pumping out absolute hitters this year. Hope you find your backups!
The comparison king does it again! Phenomenal lineup and honest review. It's funny that you mentioned the rarity of getting an 8+ year KC Rye store pick. I was traveling last weekend and stumbled upon one for $49! 8 yrs, 2 mo. Grabbed the last two left in the store. It is so damn good...better than my beloved KC 10 rye.
My store Binnys had a bottle drop 3 Saturdays ago. Yes, it was for $80. It started at 11 am, and the first 6 in line were there at 8am outside. I was #40 out of 72. I got there around 930am. I got a Blantons STFB. The first 6 guys that got the Taylor were well over 50 years old.
Ah yes, the same phenomenon that occurs in my area. That is where Buffalo Trace got the nickname 'Boomer Trace'. It's all retired or semi-retired older guys hoovering almost everything up and then flipping it for 4-10x MSRP. And boomers scratch their head as to why younger people have a disdain for them.
That fishiness started when the EHT BiB rye came out with BOTH Buffalo Trace and Barton DSPs listed on the label. Per BiB rules, the source has to be from ONE distillery, no blending allowed. Once they put two distillery designations on there it was a dead giveaway that it was Barton originated juice. BT trying to slip a fast one past consumers. F them.
Same story as most BT products. Solid value at MSRP, but competition has caught up and/or surpassed them. There's no reason to pay secondary $$$ or put in crazy effort to acquire.
@@bourbonbill Since this is the "Year of Rye" would be interesting to see you compare a recent Thomas Handy to the lineup in this vid. Not sure that Handy really justifies its $150-$200 MSRP price let alone secondary at this point
Without tasting I feel like I’m winning by grabbing JD SiB barrel proof Ryes anytime I want to and save the money and frustration of trying to find it. Imo If you find it for $77 😂😂😂. BT has become a PITA to find let alone not overpay.
All my rye $$$ for the last year is going towards JD SiB barrel proof Rye and JD bonded rye. Latest blend is 50:50 in an old fashioned and it's fantastic.
In the last five years I haven't seen an EH Taylor that's not jacked up in price beyond what it's worth. A few months back *Easy Andy* offered to hook me up but his ask wasn't *easy* on the wallet so I declined.
Full transparency it is haha. Basically if the distillery gets it and it doesn’t sell out in two days I can usually get them for Patreon members. But some of their stuff is picks and or Maryland collective which the distillery doesn’t get
@bourbonbill That sounds like a decent deal. My second question is shipping/transportation for bottles to members who live out of area? Moved from PAto NH and only make it back for the holidays. Sadly maple finish doesn't make it's way this far north
Bourbon Bill got a great Bourbon for you to try Copper & Cask. If you're not familiar with, look this Bourbon up and let me know what you think about this Bourbon.
I have tried a bottle of copper and cask and it was good but since they are an ndp and they do a lot of cool finishing projects nearly every bottle is different
If you told someone 10 years ago 2024 would be the year of the rye and a Buffalo Trace LE wasn’t at the top of that list I don’t think many people would believe you lol.
Hahah that’s so true. The Rye comeback was driven in part by smaller distilleries but also the legacy boys tucking away bangers for years except buffalo trace lol they failed to age state it and failed to just plain age it long enough my guess is they want to keep the scarcity factor up and they can use higher aged rye in their saz 18
I like Fred Minnick but he didn't do any of us any favores by releasing this video months before this bottle was released. $77 MSRP but it's selling for between $700-1200 per bottle on the secondary! Just preposterous. ruclips.net/video/ml6xDNm4O00/видео.htmlsi=_qbSU0W8BXhynYxG
“Are you gonna see it for that, probably fuck no” 😂😂😂😂
It’s the truth lol
You can tell when BB is serious. 😂

What a masterclass in value schooling. Great video

Wow great price for the KC sib! I just love how oaky the KC10 is
@bourbonbill Exactly the difference. Sweet oak on the 10, but more intense caramel and mouthfeel on the SiB. Cheers.
@@The_ProfezorI want to see a 12yr cask rye from them and a 20yr cask bourbon
The E H Taylor isn’t on my list due to scarcity and secondary prices. Great to see an honest review though.
Yeah and it shouldn’t be on anyone’s list unless they can get it for msrp

Haha the SFTB was the better choice
Excellent review, and hilarious.
Thanks I can’t help but feel like their is zero hype deserved on this bottle
Nice review! I agree with you on all the other bottles you recommended. I’d add New Riff 8 Year and store picks as great alternatives.
New Riff 8 would be good as well just didn’t have a bottle of it
Hilarious video, loved it 🔥🔥
Appreciate you watching glad you liked it
Nice review BB. Have not run into it. Would buy it at MSRP. 🥃
With as lucky as you are Dave I’m sure you’ll find one on sale even haha
If it's in a raffle I'll enter to try and win the chance to buy it at MSRP. Thanks for the honest review and the alternatives.
Of course always trying to save others some cash
Unfortunately in California the sagamore is a unicorn that I'll never find.
Hopefully someday they distribute out that way!
It isn't one of the 4 bash bills Buffalo Trace makes, and some sleuths have figured out it's Barton juice.
I’ve heard such varying things on it. Some claim it’s a different mashbill some say it’s the same as handy! I have no clue
@@bourbonbill- it’s Barton - you can see the distillery registry number is different than BT and matches Barton.

Great review and fantastic comparisons.. Thanks for lookin out for my wallet bro!!!

Absolutely agree there just isn’t a reason to put effort or money into acquiring this bottle

Haha yeah the only eht I’ve ever seen at msrp is Pa occasionally releases small batch
Not seeing that at FWGS
Damn straight
The hype on this one is over the top. Do I want to try it, sure. Will I pay over $150, no way. Give me my JDSiBBP Rye all day long.
Exactly so much better and available ryes out there. My sample is gone or I’d let you try it but you are not missing anything exceptional
Interested in the patreon if access to sagamore releases are in play. My buddy is to lazy to drive down and snag bottle.

EH Taylor rejected.
