I'm 62. Hoo Boy! Does this not recall a simpler time, an era where there was stability, hope and some kind of social structure. We listened to this non stop . I'm listening non stop now
Right there with you brother I'm 65 and so thankful got to experience music like we did, music back then took u places that most music now is not capable of doing...happier, sweeter times..😊
One of the most underrated bands to come out of Scotland, ( Dundee) utterly brilliant! 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
What a fantastic version of this song. So powerful, so beautiful and with so much feeling. Way to go AWB. THERE'S ONLY ONE AVERAGE WHITE BAND AND THEY'RE ANYTHING BUT AVERAGE.
Average my A.. 🙄🙄 This band and their Soulful vocals...are heart pounding....jawdropping 😎😎 Back in the day...my sister used to play their record" A love of your own"...until I thought the record was going to start skippin !!!! 😂🤣😅😁. Now those were the days.....Sure do miss those days,( in my most humble opinion) todays music, can't compare🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
Not as good as on album when Hamish sang it. Sorry. When he left it has not been as good. Allan Gorrie has good singing voice but not that deep soul growl and howl unbeatable indescribable voice of Hamish Stuart. Too bad Hamish left the group...as did Steve and "Molly"...... dang shame! They had the best thing going on and would have taken the USA by storm over the decades. 😔🎶🎺🎸🎷❣
Nobody is going to be Hamish Stuart , but I think Eliot Lewis has done a fantastic job of doing the falsesetto of Hamish when called upon .. I’ve seen them a few times since the personnel has changed in the band … Steve Ferrone is there but the drummers that they have used all have done a fine job of holding the groove and keeping the rest of the band locked in..my point is they still sound like AWB even with the personnel changes for the most part.
Enjoy the music they won’t be around for ever, had the pleasure of seeing them in London in the nineties. So glad I did. When I was a boy, I was introduced to their music and so blessed that I was. Keep rocking guys. Bring Hamish back.
It makes us all want to cry, emotions run deep,is it ok to miss those days of our youth, our 70's memories shared with the AverageWhiteBand, i don't ever want to loose that heaven, thanks Alan.
They should be called "the above average white band"..this group of artists are just truly epic. Live or on recordings..this band just shows what true showmanship is all about. Harmonies, musicality, and stage presence....a true triple threat!! This group never fails to entertain!! "More exciting than the dark side of the moon...indeed! Jam on my brothers.
@@annie-eloiselambert2005 girl we strolling working late at nite at the nursing home and do be listening to all the old jams so we gonna say me and my crew we loving your taste of the old jams somebody done taught you real music don't get us wrong we like all kinds of music no dam country lol
Why ahead of their times? The early Seventies WERE the times in which that kind of music was being created! AWB are truly a great band, but there was also quite a lot of other brilliant acts who basically played the same style, from The Meters to Tower of Power, from Graham Central Station to the early Kool and the Gang.
AWB is still going strong. I have been grooving with them for a couple of decades and still love their sound. They continue to augment their fan base where ever they perform.
I remember parking in my favorite secluded spot with my girl and turning up this very song (Shout out to the Class of 1974). it really set the mood! The back seat was our own private heaven.
Saw Daryl and John live in London many years ago ...still love Daryl and friends getting together and making wonderful music together..pure joy ❤ Deborah....UK.. xx
hamish stuart and alan gorrie were the perfect duo, way back to the days of the odeon cinema edinburgh, what nights they were, blew my mind, been a fan ever since of both of these guys.
just discovered awb yesterday. I am going on 24 hours of discovering song after song after song that is absolutely brilliant. i have seen these guys working with Darlyl Hall, but have never listened to their work as awb. don’t know how the heck I missed this, giving me chills😬
Sandy Herron , so glad you've discovered this great band's music. I'm 60 and I've grown up loving their stuff, ever since I was a teen. Enjoy, young lady, this is the best music of our time.
scottblnchrd going on a year after discovery, have to say I enjoy this band at least once a day. I’m hooked, great admiration and respect for these musicians.
Hi Rhonda! I have been a Awb fan since 1974,when I first heard about them.I highly recommend that you see them in person whenever they are in your city! Wear your dancing shoes! These guys are fantastic in person! You won't be disappointed! A fan of Awb from Detroit!!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🎷🎷🎶🎶🎤🎤🎸🎸🎸🎤🥁🥁🥁

Love AWB's version of Walk On By, the vocals are 4 👍's up, this is music, the sax solo is beautiful, l like how AWB breaks the song down, walk on by, just a walk on etc. Absolutely Great!!!!
I never put the songs together , this was a quincy jones jam! I remember listening to AWB doing it , but because they put their signature on it .. I just thought it was theirs! That's real musicianship!
Average White Band. First heard of them while hanging out at the Rainbo Roller Rink on Clark and Lawrence Ave. In Chicago Illinois back in the early 90's. Between 1994 and 1998 to be exact. Love them to this day. A band way ahead of their time. To see them live is an incredible thing. Never could back then. No youtube.
The decades of the 70s & 80s were best of times PERIOD. Whether we are talking R&B, Hard Rock, or Comtemporary (Smooth) Jazz, ALL bands and solo artists sounded prime. No Auto-Tune. This is most definitely one of my top-10 favorite bands of all time. I believe they're originally from Ireland. Who's ever heard of a band hailing from across the globe sounding sooo soulfully like the way they do? Hats off not to an average, but to a soulfully sounding white band who still today, sounds sooo soulfully crisp as ever. Thank you for showing off your talents surprisingly to the unexpected world. Keep on jammin' my brothaz! Love and Peace to you ALL!!!!!!
Hi David Lei... AWB is definitely one of my favorite bands as well and clearly light years from being "average". They were so tight they were one of the few bands that ever played live on 'Soul Train'. By the way, no "shade" towards you. But, they are from Scotland.
Wow I grew up listening to these cats in the 70's #AWB no doubt is the true blue eyed group of #soul. The harmony note for note♪so smooth... ☆ AWB jam session !!! A Singer's life...
They could have purple. Would have made no difference. I would have felt the same way. And still own everything they recorded. Great music is Great music! These brothers have SOUL.
Saw them back in a hotel in Albany NY State after a gig - pure chance we were in the same hotel. They were great, bought us a drink, thanked us for the support. The gig was with their friend Mike McDonald, Doobie / Dan. What a night to remember. I wonder if Beiber would do that? No me neither.

Not just underrated in Scotland but underrated in R&b!! You would be shocked at some songs that they made that others did!!
