    anything on or after countdown sounds great because the megadeth sound has been very percussive since then, and drop a riffs tend to be percussive in nature so these tend to fit in very well

    You can get by playing most thrash down to MAYBE as low as B, but D is the sweet-spot between boom and clarity. You have to write music differently to a tuning this low.

    What I find weird about these is that usually if you go down just a bit from the original recording it makes it a bit easier to sing the song for people that can't hit some of the high notes.
    But when you go this low you still sing it high like the original hahaha.
    I love the sound. I'd love to hear one of the real bands try this. Either live or in a studio rerecording of a classic track.

    Awesome job on both this video and the metallica one. Big fan of both bands! I am trying to chose my first 7-string guitar and I am REALLY stuck between this HELLRAISER C-7 and the new Schecter Jeff-Loomis JL-7, with those Seymour Duncans JF. Any advice to help me? TYVM!

    • @betterwithmetal361
      @betterwithmetal361  7 лет назад +3

      Hey man, glad to hear that you like my videos. I have never tried Jeff Loomis JL-7, but I've tried my friend's 7 string PRS, so I can tell you what I like and what I don't like about my Hellraiser.
      The Hellraiser has a 26.5" neck, which is 1.5" longer than the PRS. It doesn't seem much, but I found the PRS more comfortable to play. It just felt like a normal guitar with an extra string, while my Hellraiser feels more like a baritone guitar. You can get used to it quite quickly, but everytime I switch to a shorter scale length everything is just easier to do.
      The second thing I don't like about that guitar are the pickups. EMG 707TW are great for soloing since they sound really smooth, but for rhythm playing they feel kinda lifeless. They are just too compressed and lack some clarity. When I hit my another guitar with passive Seymour Duncans hard I just feel the juice coming out of the guitar, while on the EMGs it sounds almost the same no matter how hard I hit the strings. Because of that the faster alternate picking stuff tend to get a little bit muddy with less articulate attack. On the recordings it doesn't matter that much, it's more about the feeling when you play them.
      Just try them both and you will see which feels and sounds better to you. That's the only thing that matters. If I were choosing my seven string right now, I would probably try Keith Merrow KM-7 Trans Black Satin. It looks really beautiful and have passive Seymour Duncans.
