The Ohio to Erie trail keeps getting better each year! Note: the shuttle company name is Vega's Velo shuttle now and is a valuable option for end to end start or finish.

    A couple of friends and I rode this northbound in June of 24.We opted for a 4 day ride. It happened to be the hottest 4 day stretch since 1996! We had air temps in the upper 90's. We only experienced rain on day one and it rained for about 10 miles. The rain was refreshing. The trail is now complete through Akron now. Some of the trail through Cleveland was being worked on, but basically it's complete through Cleveland as well. Watching your video brought back some great memories. I'm sorry you had to deal with the flooded trail, but hey, it's an adventure!

    My first video review of yours. Very well done! You made it very interesting. I am doing the this trail in Seprember, I hope. I sure hope I don't run into the deep flooded sections. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, I appreciate it. I hope you get to ride it too. It's a great trail. As far as the flooded part goes, I think I just caught it at a bad time. The Cuyahoga Valley floods pretty easy, but we had a lot of rain that week. Make sure to check the weather. When I was in the water I was never scared that I would be washed away. I was more concerned about my hubs, BB and gear. Certainly I would have liked to avoid it, but it did add to the adventure and made the video more exciting! Please do check out my other videos. I made 4 from last summer. Thanks again!

    Another great video - thanks for putting this together. I'm from Northern Kentucky originally, and when I first started riding a bike in 2005, when I was still a little afraid of riding on roads, I would often drive up to the Little Miami Scenic Trail portion of your route and ride it. My first-ever "bike tour" was from Milford to Springfield on the trail, then back the next day. I didn't know about bike touring then, and thought I was doing something big - ha! I've never gotten around to doing the entire Cincinnati-to-Cleveland tour. Maybe this summer.

    Nice to see the old stomping grounds! We used to do the TOSRV ride (tour of the Scioto River Valley) which mirrors this ride except on roads mostly since it was a race.
    Worst bike accident I ever saw: coming down a long hill, everyone's flying, lady in front of us hit an old railroad crossing, caught big air since the road dropped off after the crossing (there were signs warning racers) and her front wheel came off midair.
    Another great video! Great narration! Stay safe!

      The Cuyahoga Valley is a low lying area and after heavy rain I'm sure it fills up fast. There were other bikers ahead of me that day on the trail, so I figured it was Ok. Makes for a great adventure and a greater story! Thanks for watching.

      I love my Miyata 1000. I've been using these upright bars for comfort. I have some neck and shoulder issues and it takes the pressure off. Its less efficient but I can ride.
      Fortunately the flood occurred on the last day. As soon as I got home I repacked my hubs. The BB is sealed. My local bike mechanic said the BB was ok.

      @paulsuchecki3985  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching. I just use basic chain lube from my local bike shop, nothing special. No, I don't carry a spare chain. Sounds heavy. I would rather start the tour with a brand new chain. After the flood incident on the OTET, lubed my chain. When I got home I re-greased my hubs. The BB is sealed so it was ok. Great adventure! Stay safe out there and ride on!!

      I mostly stayed in chain type motels that aren't hardly worth mentioning in the video. I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in Bellevue, KY. just across the river from Cincinnati. They let me park my car there for a week for free. On day 1, I stayed at a motel in Xenia. Day 2, I stayed at a fancy hotel in Columbus. Day 3, I ended up stealth camping at Bridge of Dreams. Day 4, I stayed in a motel in Massilon. On Day 5, I stayed at a motel in Cleveland just west of Edgewater Park on the Lake Erie shoreline. I don't remember the names of the motels. There are usually several to choose from. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

    Hi Paul, thanks for this video, this looks fun. I have been thinking about doing this trail this year. I'm wondering how you paced yourself for this -- how many hours did you put in each day, what was your average speed, how long did you stop for rests?

      Thanks for watching. I try to get up and start early. I take my time and try not to burn out my legs. I take lots of breaks. I'm always looking for something interesting to film. I sometimes take long brakes. 30 minutes or more. But I try to keep a steady pace. On level ground with no wind, about 10 mph. Factor in hills and wind, and adjust accordingly. If the weather looks bad I go faster. I'm not a racer. But I can go fast when I need to. Thanks again and ride on.
