It’s astonishing how well that truck was built. All the credit to everyone in the shop at that time for keeping that truck top notch for decades.
Bigfoot always had top tier trucks.
Ah, the moment we've all been waiting for -- great to see a whole episode devoted to this incident. I don't think there's anyone who doesn't want to have been a fly on that pit wall when RBC walked up to Piant in that closeup!
Nah, you can tell by his body language and facial expressions, Bob was relieved he was OK, and not too concerned about the truck. Steel can be fixed easily. Flesh not so much.
@@nunyabizzness5477 That was my sense, too, but still just curious how it came across :)
*Bigfoot 4 dies *
*"Knockin' On Heavens Door" begins playing.*
I guess the truck was snakebit. 🤪
the legendary crash
That Accident Was Featured In DiggerFanJSB's Monster Truck Crash Compilation Video.
I was there..I remember it to this day. Probably the worst crash ever seen at that time. In real time it was absolutely devastating. I miss when they would come to the fair grounds and race around a figure 8 type out door track. They would do a drag race and a side by side lap type deal. Great memories with my dad.
How come bigfoot doesn't compete in monster jam?
Because in order to get your truck on a Monster Jam roster you have to sell all rights and ownership to FELD Motorsports, they own your trucks, they take a cut from ticket sales and merchandising as well Bob was approached around 20 or so years ago about joining Monster Jam but didn't want to sell Bigfoot to FELD, thus no Bigfoot in Monster Jam.
Long story. Short version is video rights. Feld want full control and Bigfoot aren't prepared to sell out.
it runs in whatever one Hotwheels runs
I believe the story is, Bob the owner had fear of selling out to large companies and had a dispute of feld licensing bigfoot 4x4's picture and videos of which they owned. They ceased running events in 1998 and have not returned since
Cause some of the people at Monster Jam don’t want to grow up and let the past be the past. Bigfoot from what I know has reached out to them.
Never gets any easier. Goodbye, Bigfoot 4. But hello Snake Bite 1!
U Mean The First Snake Bite Came From Bigfoot 4
@@brandonsanmann9436 Yup.
4 turned into a weird hybrid in the 90s, being a partial tube chassis truck but still partially Gen 1 frame style
All in favor of bogfoot 4 being driven in anger one more time say aye
I wish could have heard Bob thoughts during this video.
I thoughtb4 was done for after this. Thankfully rebuilding the truck took place.
No matter how many times I see it, that wreck still sends chills up my spine.
Holy moly! What a crash! Was BF#4 rebuilt after this? Frame looked pretty bent as well.
It was rebuilt It was turned into The first Snake bite truck afterwards Bob Chandler and Jim Cramer said it themselves That the trucks are very reparable Even in the worst of crashes
“WHY DID YOU TURN!?”
Or is that meme too old at this point?
The 👑 started it all and still standing 👍👍👍
Big foot 4 was my favorite truck, I want to build a truck and make it just like 4, Just to show people how far we have came
Bob and Jim both feel that 4 was the best truck they had from back then since it was so capable and fast as well as safe and innovative. It really opened the door for gen 2 and all generations after. It also was the first one to clear a whole set of cars consistently and safely.
Since i was little i saw this video on tv brings me back old times never knew who was driving
oof,
though that BigFoot 4 wreck was the genesis for a rebuild, that brought out a better performing Bigfoot 4 under the guise of SnakeBite.
4 always seemed to have its own personality, no matter what ailment it had, it always fought to the finish. A true work horse.
the real monster trucks
I guess #4 was knock knock knocking on heavens door .... Lol
The day Bigfoot 4 became the Frankenstein Bigfoot. 😂
It was already kind of a Frankenfoot before this accident, it was an inbetweener of stage 2 and stage 3 trucks.
Bigfoot 5 is the Frankenstein foot
It’s 2 frames
It has an 87 cab and 96 bed and front
@@nathanmcdonald610 yups! You can already see the rear nitrogen shocks. If only it had a bigger power plant it would be a beast.
This a weird Guns n Roses video
It's Just The Song Playing Over The Speakers.
1st comment love all the old school stuff bigfoot 4x4 is putting out on youtube and the online store
Yes!!! Same here!!! I could sit and watch this older footage all day long.
The most famous wreck in Bigfoot history and it was called by Army Armstrong AND Joe Lowe! Amazing.
Oh man, I was 8 years old and I was there... Remember crying because Bigfoot got hurt. Still got the pictures I took from my Mickey Mouse camera :)
All 4 tires blowing out and the rear axle coming out from under it seemed to take a lot of the energy and speed out of it. Had it been any other race vehicle this would have been far, far worse.
Everybody forgot how good david morris was in bigfoot 3
Tampa 1995!
Who drove each of the trucks at this event?
3 - David Morris (of Equalizer fame)
4 - John Piant
7 - Gene Patterson
8 - Andy Brass
9 - Jim Kramer
Not sure who drove Shuttle or Ranger.
Sick video 👍🏽✌🏽
@1:40 Is When It Started To Go Wrong
Alas, the last run of the original #4. After this it will never be close to this setup
Reminds me of watching these highlights and events on TNT and ESPN with my Grandpa. By far, my favorite truck being Bigfoot 4. That thing just had "it" and got super excited when it was in action. Kudos to the Bigfoot team to design these trucks. Would love to see that #4 rolled back out in this condition as a relic of history. Really, really miss the early days of these trucks and events. Had a wide level of competition and you could actually tell trucks apart from one another. Maybe I just miss my Grandpa too....oh yes, Don Garlits and that Swamp Rat 30...2 of my favorite vehicles as a kid
Even compared to what we have now, that hit Piant took looks pretty gnarly.
I like how the wall didn't come out unscathed either lol
sick!!
Who was the driver for #4
John Piant.
Saw #4 the day before at a Ford dealership in Lebanon, TN. Got some great pics n got to chat with John Piant too, really cool guy.
Little did I know.....
OUCH !!!!
Seen this several times over the years. Still cringe a little every time. Think our Nashville NBC affiliate, WSMV, CH 4 News had video of this crash too on the 10pm news that night. By far a rough night for the BIGFOOT team. Did J P move on afterwards? Never heard much about him later on. Did n t seem hurt either, thankfully.
Thanks for posting.
He drove for Team Bigfoot until 1992, then moved on to other things so far as I know.
This has to be the first monster truck wreck that flattened all 4 tires if not the only one. Bigfoot 4 innovating to the very end lol. I know it got rebuilt but still it was just such a ridiculous truck.
Absolutely love these long version vids showing the cleanup and everything. Such a scary crash
