Human Castles special ¦ Love Your London ¦ Castellers of London ¦ Catalan human towers

Catalunya has an odd but beautiful tradition going back at least 200 years, (though it has its origins in Algemesí in Valencia). These are the Castells, or Human Castles (or human towers) and London has its own Colla (team) of Castellers called "Castellers of London". They rehearse twice a week, and this Saturday 24th June 2023, they will be performing some of their fascinating structures to a live audience near Borough Market (Borough Yards, 16 Stoney Street) to celebrate the Diada de Sant Joan.
In this short episode, Tristán White and Sharon Crawford met up with one of their rehearsals at Lincoln Inn's Fields, and spoke one of the organisers, Guerau. We learn the fascinating rules and nomenclature regarding this UNESCO-protected festivity. Oh, and they're desperate for new recruits! Any size or height, there's always a place for you in the Castell.
