I love them as well. I got this one at a show in 2009.

It's interesting to see a actor, along with his real-life wife and daughter, playing the same type of roles in this one, Alyssa.

Definitely. I think it really adds to the performances here!

Nice review! Yeah, I can plan things if needs be, but I prefer to fly by the seat of my pants. In my youth, I would show up to movie theaters, and just start picking films at random to see. I get exhausted just thinking about planning everything as you do.
Best film about dealing with grief? Well, due to the passing of the great Donald Sutherland, I have had Don't Look Now in my head, and that is unarguably up there. You?

I have a friend like that. I still remember not too long ago (okay, I guess like 6 years but who's counting), I was visiting home and decided to see a movie with her. She wanted to see Mary Queen of Scots, so that was the plan and then after we get to the theater she decides to change her mind and we saw The Favourite instead. I was still thrown off by the last minute change for like half of the movie 😆
Hmm, I dunno. I always kind of view Pan's Labyrinth as a grief movie, with Ofelia imagining everything as a way of dealing with the horrors of reality. But, if I had to pick something more traditional, I think Mass is really impactful.

@MainelyMovies Mass is wonderful. However, please sit down as to not hit your head as you faint, I have the opposite take on Pan's Labrynth, and believe everything was real. I remember seeing it for the first and second time in theaters. It is funny that the end of Pan's Labrynth, quite coincidencedently, coincided with me having a completely unrelated bout of dehydration. Funny the timing...

@moviedave2001 Haha, I've watched Pan's Labyrinth probably 30 or 40 times since it came out, so I've viewed it in all the different ways at one point or another. There are definitely a few things that don't perfectly align with the it's all in her head theory, but it's the one I come back to most these days 😆 I think it helps that Mercedes has always been my favorite character in the movie and she's definitely grounded in the "real" world of the story.
