Interested in another supernatural serial killer police procedural? *Check out my review of The Exorcist III* here: ruclips.net/video/vIRm5eZh8ic/видео.html

Great review! I really liked Longlegs as well but hype hurt it a touch. Nevertheless, a strong creepy film with some fantastic performances

Thanks a lot, Larry! Definitely agree about the hype... it's always odd which movies catch the hype train and which ones don't 😆

This was an very unusual, crazy, and weird horror/thriller where you get some Buffalo Bill vibes. Nicolas Cage is great in this film and we get some wild moments in the film.

Oh yeah, it's definitely got some weird elements to it. Cage is this really weird blend of physically unrecognizable but somehow still extra Cagey haha.

Great review! Like you I think the mystery side of the investigation and the atmosphere surrounding it is definitely the most interesting part of the film. Part of me doesn’t like the fact that the conclusion was supernatural, I found it more disturbing wondering about how these killings actually happened and I think it loses something being explained through all the spirits and devil worship stuff. Still a really good film though

Thanks! I guess I don't mind the supernatural tinge to it, but leaning into the satanic panic stuff so heavily at the end felt a bit overkill when much of what came before had a grounded component to it.

I also went in blind. I enjoyed it until it took a turn into a different genre.
I enjoyed what was hinted at through dialogue and imagery. Then towards the end of the movie it's brought right from the background into the foreground and the movie lost me.
I give the director credit for taking a risk but it didn't work in my opinion.
I would have preferred the movie end and set up a sequel in that second style rather than just switching in the last 20% ? of the movie .
It's just my opinion and some people agree with me and some enjoyed the movie as it was.
I do admit that even though I have problems with the movie, I'm still thinking about it says later.
I don't know if there would be any sequels, even if it did make sense story wise but I think they should make more because everyone involved did a great job.

I agree, the film leaning so hard into that 3rd act aspect was among the weaker parts of it to me as well. It seemed like an unlikely blend with the FBI crime procedural parts of the story. Interesting in concept, but hard to pull off in practice.

So, would this make Anthony Perkins... Daddy Longlegs?
Serial killer investigation? That is easy: David Fincher's 2007 masterpiece, Zodiac! One of the best films of that decade.

      Nice 😆
Oh man, yeah I love Zodiac. That would definitely be at or near the top of my list too.

@@MainelyMovies Oh, enjoy SDCC! I always find it weird that people get together to talk about closed captioning, but whatever floats yours.

My favorite movie about a serial killer investigation is “ Silence of the Lambs “

I have never understood the love this film gets. It is north of good, but still quite south of great.

I liked the acting from everyone. It was directed well and great camera shots. Creepy and eerie throughout the movie. I love the 90's throwback. I didn't the second half because of what they decided to add into the film. I started losing interest. I thought Nicholas Cage's performance could have been better. I have seen better performances from him in his past work.
