I'm glad I watched this. For me the main purpose of drinking coffee is the caffeine not really the taste. What I learned in this video is that there is actually more caffeine in drip coffee because of the volume. I would have to drink 1 & 1/2 shots of espresso to equal the caffeine I'd get from drip coffee with a standard size coffee mug. I think I'll stick with the simple drip coffee makers.

The reason why so many people hate drip coffee might be the fact that Drip method solely relies on the quality of coffee beans and since high quality beans tend to be much more expensive, most cafes choose to serve espresso. my suggestion is to try 100% Arabica with a light or medium roast brewed with V60 or French Press to really get a taste of fine drip coffee. There is a pleasant floral and fruity taste achieved by the drip method that espresso can not deliver.
Good video, I enjoy it!!! I drink different methods of coffee and two things to add about the drip coffee... the roast is normally lighter to get the best characteristics of the coffee and you can enjoy more of the aroma of the coffee. For single origin coffees is the best method.
Two grievances worth noting with this video. There is a huge difference between a French press and, say, a pour over. French press is a steeping method, which includes things like cold brew, Aeropress, and clever dripper. This method is chemically different because it allows the coffee to oxidize, effecting the flavor a great deal. A French press and a pour over have distinct strengths and weaknesses and saying they're the same is fundamentally wrong. The other thing you got wrong is the fundamental thing that makes espresso different, which is the pressure it's put under when brewed. It has to have a certain number of bars in order to qualify. Some people argue that an aeropress is espresso, but going by stricter standards it doesn't qualify at all.
I have a staresso which gives thick creme every time I use it but does not give me a buzz compared to using a cheap 12 cup filter pouring water over a styrofoam cup
I usually grind my grounds REALLY fine whether it's espresso or drip coffee. And I make either quite strong. For 1 unit of water in drip coffee I use 2 units of coffee.. or more, but never more than 4.. The amount of coffee I use for just two servings could actually be used to brew 8 or more.. I like it strong.
.Do the coffees that are sold in supermarkets all "freeze dried"? (Maxwells, Folgers, etc..) Because the coffees like Starbucks always say use within 30 days or so. (Or does Maxwells, Folgers have a 'freeze dried' component that makes it last much longer in a cabinet? (sorry for my newbie question.) Thanks. 😊
I don’t think so. It would just be a bitter black coffee, due to overextracting because of the fine grind. For Espresso you need the high pressure. Either from an espresso machine or from manual pressing
There are so many to choose from so hard to say. In my experience, you don't even have to invest into too expensive equipment to get good coffee either
Try a chemex or Hario V60 for drip. But a lot of it depends on the coffee used. A harsh (herbal, spicy) or store bought coffee might well taste horrendous out of a chemex, but good in a French press. A good Ethiopian from a local roaster will taste heavenly.

"lovely" is not how I would describe crema. While crema does look nice and is a good indication of the freshness of coffee (higher C02 content after roasting) it also tastes disgusting. You can try it yourself by tasting a shot right off the pull and a shot that has had a chance to dissipate side by side.
Crema is the defining part of the espresso and has little to do with the CO2 content of the coffee. CO2 creates foam which can even be found on coffees made in other styles (french press, pour over). Crema, true crema, is only obtained by adding pressure to your coffee extraction. It is the oils that are extracted at these higher pressures and tastes quite sweet. If you find it bitter, then my friend you are not drinking crema...
I found crema too bitter at first, and I would remove it with a spoon. Now I feel like it's a defining part of the experience. Give it a chance, before you side line it completely. That being said, some people are more sensitive to the bitterness in coffee than others, just like how alcohol tends to create a burning sensation for some people.

I don't think there are much differences. The biggest difference is if you have filtered or unfiltered coffee. With unfiltered coffee (like French Press coffee) you need to be careful with certain oils in the coffee that can raise cholesterol levels. Paper filtered drip coffee (like regular drip machines, or Chemex) filter these oils out so filtered coffee is healthier. I am not sure if Espresso contains these cholesterol raising oils or not.

@@Puzzlecaffegame is chemex nice never had the coffee
@@thelatenightgamer2624 You need a special Kone filter and need to have the right skills for the grinding and pouring, but if you do it right it has the velvety mouthfeel of a French press while retaining the complexity of flavor of pourover
The main difference is that drip coffee from the office is disgusting
The difference between espresso and drip =NECTAR and VERY DIRTY WATER
All types of coffee can be good in my opinion
So, what’s the healthiest espresso or drip coffee, very confusing.
Thanks
I don't think there are much differences. The biggest difference is if you have filtered or unfiltered coffee. With unfiltered coffee (like French Press coffee) you need to be careful with certain oils in the coffee that can raise cholesterol levels. Paper filtered drip coffee (like regular drip machines, or Chemex) filter these oils out so filtered coffee is healthier. I am not sure if Espresso contains these cholesterol raising oils or not.
One or two shots of espresso a day won't raise your cholesterol levels. Eating animal based foods will.

Yes, mokapot could be a good way. Many Italian homes use it.
