An option I found to work is the Hoka Challeger 6 ATR GTX “ Gortex” version comfortable and has the ability to run road and trail paths. 4mm lug depth with a 31mm rear stack height with 26 in the front. And as always opinions are subjective, hope everyone has a great weekend.
My experience with shield is that after a year they stop being water resistant. Water gets in like crazy after about half an hour of just walking. Dunno why that is, probably the material breaking down Peg trail GTX works better for me
In the last two years--with the exception of their Super Shoes--I've given up on Nike....and I've been running since 1977, and was a Nike fanatic for a majority of those 45 years.
I need to go up a half size in the shield version as find the uppers just too firm around the toes compared to the regular road versions. The shield does what it needs to in the winter and is pretty dependable. The stormtread outsole is way better than the outsole on the Trail 3 and probably the 4 too. If they had stormtread lugs on the Trails they might be a better contender in wet 🤔🤷♂️ I'll pick up a pair in the Christmas sale as I do every year 🤭
Would you say the shoe is as noisy as the online reviews say they are? Apparently the rubber in front makes a "kling" noise at every step... did it happen to you too?
I ordered a pair and have immediately returned after trying them on. Not only do they make a noise but you can feel the rubber every time you flex your foot - whether runnning or walking. Terrrible! I much prefer my Shield 37's

The same. I just tried them on in the store and didn't take them because of that weird noise and feeling
I honestly am not a Nike fan, there are just better shoes being made by other brands. However I love the Peg 4 trail GTX, it’s fun, responsive and brill on all surfaces. Winter sorted with the the Endorphin speed 2 shield in wetter conditions. Btw the quality is good on the GTX surprisingly.
@@michaellogan8395 Thanks for replying and letting me know! I’ve been looking for a winter running shoe and been turned off the Turbo by the mostly negative reviews it has
Just found these Pegasus at my local outlet got them for a amazing deal could t pass them up. They had them marked down to 39.99 plus a 30% and also had a 15% discount on my Nike app final price with tax was $26
Hey Chris, great video. Looking to buy Peg39 GTX, Shield or Trail version to try out. Looking to use them for random Parkruns which are a mixture of gravel/light trail/road (during winter). Which one would you recommend as an all rounded transition shoe between those surfaces? Picked these up on sale just now to try on! Shield 39 - £65 (black and white) Trail 39 GTX - £80 (all black) Trail 39 - £81 (yellow)
On my 7th pair of peg trail 4 gtx and not looking back. We got peg 38s on tournament last sprint. Pegasus shield was a huge disappointment. They just don’t fit. They are small and narrow. The stupid unisex movement is killing anyone with a non narrow foot. The gtx peg 4 just got its last full size run and is done for all intents and purposes so hopefully they don’t EF it up in ver 5
Looking for a ‘shield ‘ and tempted by the new saucony triumph 20 run shield as love my standard version but put off by 1 the price £165 and 2 the outsole which is same as the standard. The peg shield is appealing as in the right price bracket for a shoe that won’t be needed on every run. Noticed can pick up for around £100 so is it worth it and should I go up half a size for thicker winter socks ? Thanks
Im hoping the 40 shield can improve on the upper, ans just general improvement. Might not have that much of a change in the regular, but mabye the shield can have a better fit.
We've been having some harsh rain here in NL lately, so the peg 37 shield is my go to shoe at the moment. I absolutely love it (and it looks way better than the 39).
You mentioned the build quality being bad and how there is glue everywhere but you didn't close up or show any of it in detail which would have been appreciated as the shoe looks fine from a distance
Are Pegasus 39 Shield warm during the winter just for casual walking? Because I had Pegasus 36 gore-tex and they are not for winter, very cold around the feet without any insulation, so that I don't make the same mistake :)
Being that the Pegasus trail 4 is far more comfortable than the 39, I have no idea why anybody would buy the shield versus the Gore-Tex trail 4. Just doesn't make sense to me.
How is the grip on the 4? I have the 3 gtx, but the grip is horrible (understatement). I use the 37 shield for bad weather, the trail 3 doesn't even come up as an option.
@@toni194 I have the runshield but I haven't been out in heavy rain yet. Weirdly enough I prefer them to my regular ES2. This is just for road running though, I haven't done any trails. Thank you for your reply
Thank you so much for the review. Is the rubber part at the bottom of the shoe as flexible as pegasus 39 non shiled, or is it hard? I have back pain, what do you think?
Update after using this shoe for 1 year. Comfort 0 Stability 0 After sometime don't even feel like wearing it since the sole is hard as rock. Never recommend it even for daily use.
I bought these... i can't wear them because they make a clicking sound every step on the top above the toes on both shoes and it's fekkin annoying. Propper shite design

I’m gonna try that peg trail GTX
I am a noob and today I almoust bought these. Good thing I didn't because I now realised that it would be too hot to run in these in summer :D

I’ve had no issues
I have the same issue in the mid foot section

Reviews say they are not waterproof, yet alone water resistant. Is this true in your experience with them?
Mine are waterproof.

I use winflo 9 shield in spring and winter here in Chicago serve me well ….
I live in wisconsin so I think I'll be fine with how warm it is.
Hi, any idea of the shield-line has been discontinued? There was no Pegasus 40 shield....
Looking at these for purely a walking shoe for my summer travels to Scotland / London in a few weeks. Do you thibk they will be to hot?

Have you tried it in the rain? Does it make the feet warm or hot? Tell us your experience . thnx

Are you still using them? The squeaking noises are gone or still there? Tnx
Does the popping noise ever go away on these? Getting really irritating now. How would they not test that before releasing these
Is there a popping sound from the top while walking?
Can you fully wet it? Like jumping in a waterfall and stuff…
Are Pegasus 39 Shield warm during the winter just for casual walking? Because I had Pegasus 36 gore-tex and they are not for winter, very cold around the feet without any insulation, so that I don't make the same mistake :)
Totally agree! Great for summer but terrible for winter. Gore-tex doesn't allow for insulation!

I think the 39 is 1 of the most comfortable shoes this year. 🤷♂️
For road running maybe?
Reviews on Nike website say there not at all waterproof, or even water resistant for that matter. What’s your experience with them?
how do these compare to the endorphin speed 2 runshield?
Firmer better outsole
