This is one of the greatest songs of all time. Such an emotion invoking vibe. I noticed that many of you wonderful people used this song to make it through true tragedies.
What a great band and one off the best front men
My brother Xavier died of cancer 3 years ago - he loved his family and friends. He was liked be all who knew him. Before he died I went to a funeral of one of his close friends when he was overseas - one of his friends reminded me that they really liked my bro - that he never had a bad word to say about anyone. RIP Xavier
This got a 15 year old me into REM fully after many years of loving hearing them on the radio. They absolutely blew Live 8 away and from memory they followed a few pedestrian efforts by other bands, they were head and shoulders above most on the day.

Michael Stipe is amazing! He takes a sedate crowd and has them all going crazy in 3 minutes. I love it

I'm the biggest INXS fan, saw them seven times, twice in one weekend in '97 before that fateful day when we lost another Michael. AMAZING live. But my favourite gig? Here I am admitting it, REM in Manchester around 2000. The stage was set a bit unusually, we watched from behind, a small bank of seats set up a steep section at the rear of the stage and actually had a great view, they turned around and did a few numbers to the crowd behind them, it was just EPIC. What an awesome band.
Got offered a ticket to see them at the last minute and walked out ma job for them, Michael Stipe, such an entertainer 👏🏻
In my college days in Athens, you would see the guys in REM around town. I got to sit next to Mike Mills at an Atlanta Braves game. Nice guy.

I wish they'd had a longer set. You forget just how huge REM were at this time, even as it was the bands 'twilight' years. I think they would've had the crowd jumping for longer 🥰

My college days, too. I was in Athens, and the guys would frequent the same spots we all did. Small sandwich shops, clubs - Athens is a small college town, but the some of the best bands ever came from there.

One of my favourite REM songs, a faster, up beat version live, usually happens at live concerts, love it though.
Since its one of my faves, at 3:06 i naturally sang "wrestling with bears" in place of the "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah"

I saw them in East Lansing in 1995 during the Monster tour. Radiohead opened for them and Patti Smith was there that night. Looking back I can't believe I got to witness it.
