“The consequences of infidelity on the family, the children”! What a statement! Think about the effect on my daughter who exposed her father’s affair to me, her Mom after 29 years of marriage! She saw the same behaviors in her Dad that she recently went through with her boyfriend and went through his phone and discovered her Dad’s betrayal to her Mom! He’s been dragging his feet through “our recovery” for 5 years and she sees his lack of effort in making repairs, amends, restitution to me and to her! Can you imagine the tension in our “home”? Every day is a new scar. Another wasted opportunity for healing. Another hope, dashed. Another reason to end the marriage. She looks at everything he does as a manipulation, a trick, a passive aggressive maneuver, another lie to make me want to stay. She’s protective over me because she doesn’t want me to be duped again. We were both duped. Yes, infidelity has consequences! Lying and secrecy prevents anyone from believing you! Betrayal is a stab in the back by someone you love. Everything shatters.
