    Hi Kim, I just noticed your bible verse on the wall. Love it. Want to put one like this on my wall too. How blessed we are.

    I just learned of your husband's going to be with the Lord. My husband and I grieve with you and are praying for you. Even though we don't know you or him, we know what it is to be married to your best friend and know that loss is so deep.
    When I was flipping through pics of this pattern, I saw yours and thought you looked so cute in your floral top! Thank you for sharing your creativity and your life with us. I also love seeing what you create for your grandchildren. You're sewing memories for them!

    This fusible thread would be great for fabrics that are hard to hem. I don't have a problem with my coverstitch, but it's nice to have options. Thanks for the tip!!

    MGoodness this method saves time and money. I won't need Fusible Knit Stay Tape AND the Coverstitch machine. Fantastic Tip.

    Getting to love PDF patterns . I now prefer them to commercial brands . The pdf’s are fashionable , provide for more sizes and plus sizes.

    Thank you for this fusible thread technique. Cannot wait to try it.
    Do you have a video of the binding neckband technique you mention in your video.
    Thank you.

      You can check on Kim's channel -- Dorothy's Daughter. But the Love Notions channel has a binding method video as well for LBD :)

    Great review. Just got the pattern and can't wait to make it. Considering the children's pattern for my granddaughter. Did you design the pocket for your granddaughter's shirt or does LN have an add on that can be purchased?

    HI-Idont have a serger yet. Is there any way I can use this fusible thread to do this hem on my sewing machine.

    • @dorothysdaughtersews
      @dorothysdaughtersews 4 года назад

      I have not tried this, but I wonder if you could use a top stitching needle and zigzag it on? Or, you could wind it on a bobbin? If you try it, let me know how it works!

    Kim, my La Bella Donnas fit me good except under the arms and the band could be looser.
    I can't find a video on how to adjust the underarm and band. Can you help me? It is the FB.

    • @LoveNotions
      @LoveNotions  2 года назад +1

      I would grade out to a bigger size at the underarm and sleeve. And use the band for that new size as well. ~K

    Do you find that the fusible hem holds up to repeated washings? Also do you ever adjust your differential feed when sewing your curved hem? Thanks, this was an interesting video!

    • @dorothysdaughtersews
      @dorothysdaughtersews 4 года назад

      Yes! I have a few tops I made 3-4 years ago that have been washed and washed. The key is getting enough heat/steam.

  • @quiltygal6981
    @quiltygal6981 4 года назад

    Thanks for the hem tip I'll have to see if it's available here....... question do you sew the hem down after ironing it.

    • @dorothysdaughtersews
      @dorothysdaughtersews 4 года назад +1

      Quiltygal - no, I do not. It has lasted through many washes and several I have had for years. The key is to make sure you use enough heat/steam.

    • @quiltygal6981
      @quiltygal6981 4 года назад

    Would you go back and renew the hem once you've fused it down?

    • @dorothysdaughtersews
      @dorothysdaughtersews 4 года назад +1

      No, once it’s fused, that’s it. Just use plenty of heat and steam. I have tops that are 4 and 5 years old, washed tons of times and has never fallen out.

  • @marshadimond441
    @marshadimond441 4 года назад

    Were there any changes to the pattern besides the additional sizes?

    • @LoveNotions
      @LoveNotions  4 года назад

      The pattern was redrafted for the new block, so while the fit is very very similar to the original, all pieces have changed. :) But you can redownload for free, as with all the updates that we do!.

    When you use the fusible thread for the hem do you then have to topstitch it to make it permanent? What a great idea! Please let me know if the fusible is enough or do I need to topstitch too. Thank you for your great posts

    • @dorothysdaughtersews
      @dorothysdaughtersews 2 года назад +1

      If you get good fusible thread, you don’t need to stitch it. The only time it has ever come out for me is if I don’t give the full steam for 10 seconds. Resist buying an off brand. Stick with the Gutterman.
