Congratulations Greg on your incredible journey and having the fortitude to keep trying to find this magnificent Monarch 😊 I've been down that road here in Central New York And it may take several years to finally catch up with him but your persistence paid off It did mine when I finally got my buck of a lifetime A 182 and 6/8 15 pt. Greg I am friends with Ct Carl and I met you at Huntstock this past week and was trying to remember where I recognized you from . I watched this video last month , congrats on a great deer , I purchased one of your green plaid jackets and won some of your gloves in the raffle on Sunday , Great video , Hope to see you next year at Huntstock 2024 , Good Luck hunting this year . "You're just a killer." That is a nuts statement to make. Going out and pounding the woods with the intention of gathering game is what a hunter is. Any further definition only serves arrogance. Ridiculous. Congrats on a monster! Great job!
Just saw this deers rack at Mountain Deer Taxidermy this morning and had to come rewatch the video. Unreal rack in person, congrats on such a stud of a buck man!
“I don’t even know what f’in planet I’m on right now…” Hahah! Love it! Congrats on an absolute giant Greg. Way to put in the work and never give up! Well deserved.
Like others, I've been excited to see this video released and I have to say, I was on the edge of my seat. Congratulations, once in a lifetime buck - truly remarkable. He was one special deer and you put your time in and earned an opportunity at him. Glad you made a good shot. Thanks for sharing!
I relate. I learn the bucks habits. Where they travel checking on does, scraping, rubbing, marking branches. Where they bed. Then I still hunt those specific spots. I love still hunting. Unless it's so cold I have to move. I can still hunt a small area (usually our sugarbush) all damn day. All of my kills have been under 50 yards. Most literally within 25.
Great video my friend.. You do deserve it! I know what you mean. I have been hunting my whole life and I'm 58 years old and up until last year I had never shot a big buck. I shoot lots of small ones and some does. Then last year I worked by butt off on a buck that had a huge track. I had never seen him on camera but I knew he was big. I was hunting scrape lines and like you I kept moving around. I never even saw a doe. I was thinking I wasn't very good at hunting. Then on the 18th of November I almost didn't hunt because it was so warm. I went in late at about 9:00am and the leaves were really noisy so I sat down. After about five minutes I let out three grunts and I heard something heading my way pretty quickly. All I saw was antlers coming through the woods. He was also behind me but I has able to turn my body to get the shot. One shot with a 308, bolt action. He ran down over the hill. I went after him but there was no blood. I was thinking how could I have missed that deer. I tracked him for another 100 yards and there he was dead on the ground. Big 9 point 20 inch spread and he weighed 197 pounds.
Great video! Awesome NH Buck. Great that he made 200 and a comment from Jeff, Mr Tracking 200! He will look amazing on your wall. Congratulations…Alan from Nottingham
I felt a surge of adrenaline when you spun around and shot at such a close distance! I’m a 65 year old ground hunter and man they show up quick! Still hunt with iron sights because most of my shots are 10-20 yards! Beautiful once in a life deer! Congrats!
God damn right you deserve it. Congratulations man. Great video, great buck, and great way to exemplify persistence!! What a brute. That makes me smile!!
Congrats. Been waiting for this since listening to the podcast. Very nice . . I know how u feel . . It took 3 years on one giant in 2011 (. 159 3/8) 197 lbs and 5 years on my last one in 2021 ( 151 2/8) 230 lbs up here in maine with years of pictures and a couple of misses and chances. . It happens fast when it falls in place . You were calmer that I was haha .
It took me years to get out of the 140s on mature bucks and I've been hunting since 1974 But when you finally kill that really big monarch It feels like your life is complete as a hunter 😊 Congratulations Greg
DAMN!!!! Awesome buck.probably one of the best vids also.Nothing like that feeling you just shared with us & its something you can watch over & over. I was fortunate enough to experience what you did with a huge NH buck so I totally understand the surreal disbelief & feeling that goes with it. Congrats on a true brute!!!!
That is just one damn fine buck!!! I've been waiting to see this since the podcast. An absolute buck of a lifetime!! And all on camera to boot. It's off to the Yankee sportsman's classic for me next weekend. Hope to see some of you guys there.
I appreciate and respect your humbleness, sir.But you a 100% deserve that buck Congratulations, young man. That is an absolute beautiful, beautiful buck.Congratulations
Unreal video. Raw emotion. I've been in almost the exact same scenario (except with a much, much smaller deer hahaha) when a nice buck comes in directly behind and you wonder what the best plan is. My heart was beating through my chest just wondering what you were going to do when we heard him coming in grunting like that. That's what it's all about. Thanks for sharing Greg that was awesome!
Hot damn, you got him ! Congratulations man, that was a hell of a hunt. Love it up close and personal like that. Never had one even close to that big do it for me but, some nice big 8 pointers and it's a rush for sure. No wonder you got so excited which was awesome. Again, congratulations and good luck in future, well done.
Great job! What a beautiful deer. I’ve been hunting in NH for 35 years and never seen a deer like that. Nice shooting too! Remington 760? I have a 760 in 35 Remington. Great guns but they’re easy to short stroke when you get excited!
Anything you strive to do with your hands you must do with all your heart. Way to follow your passion, Its hard to keep your head up in a long pursuit like this, congrats brother. Good call huntung pockets of Doe, you knew where he'd be. Way to commit and stick w it
You did deserve it Greg !!! You put your time in and made the right decision , sitting in a strategic spot when it a loud crunchy morning ! Congrats on a Slammer !
Great job. That wasn’t luck you knew when to stop and wait. I like how you mention about the decision to start holding out for a big one and that you wondered if you’re even a deer hunter or not.
Holy crap. The adrenaline, when he's at your back and you feel like you can't move and if you do it better be just right. I hate when your adrenaline gets crankin before you get the shot. Been there. Good job!! This was an amazing hunt to watch! It's like we were there with you. You TOTALLY deserved him!
12:00 I've lost count of how many deer I've had walk up on me like that. It took me a couple of seasons to learn how to NOT move an eyelash until I could not only see them, but anything coming in after them. Definitely gets the heart pumpin' and that adrenalin running through my veins and I forget all the suffering it took for me to get to that one moment in time where I have a chance at something. Awesome footage! I had a monster 10 pointer flank me while I was focusing on a doe in front of my at 30 yards as I sat up against a tree. I thought he was a squirrel until some clouds covered the sun and I looked up and saw it was him blocking the sky. He literally walked to within 12" of my boot and began to feed in front of me. I couldn't get my flintlock up to take him because the whole time, the side of his head was facing me. Something spooked the doe, he jumped and bolted and within a split second, he was 50 yards away. I tried to take a shot, but he dropped down the ravine and disappeared. Now, I NEVER ever 2nd guess anything and treat every noise like it could be a buck. This time, you were the one who told Gandalf, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" 😂 Is that a Remington 7600?

Monster buck! Looked like you got excited and short stroked the pump gun! Happens!! You earned that one!! Don’t care how good you are, it’s hunting! Some years are good some years aren’t! Congrats!🤟 Will
Dude awesome! Hunting from the ground is how I did it growing up. The first buck I got snuck up on me too. snapped a twig and I turned and saw a beaut, an old 150-60. That thing is an absolute bruiser though, wow.
Nice buck! Just wondering why the pump rifle is so popular in the NE, just traditional thing or because there’s a lot stalk & track hunting & need a quick follow up shot maybe?
I’ve hunted for 30 years I’m currently 36 I got my first buck opening day my first year when I was 6 in VT and I just got my first 8 pointer on the 29th year but I have shot a total of 16 bucks so I’m batting over .500 I guess and in Vermont 🤷🏻♂️
Great buck! What a hunt. Can’t imagine the adrenaline pumping through you hearing him coming at you grunting like that. Just curious, what is the tagging process in NH? I didn’t notice you tag him or see a tag on him at all. Most states I hunt you have to tag the deer before you move it.
