- 16 years ago I stumbled, by accident, upon 1NSANE and simply couldn’t resist to its amazing cover! And the sentence “No Limits, No Rules, No Roads” instantly grabbed me! By then, I was a huge fan of multiplayer over network, so playing 1NSANE with friends was a really fun thing to do! Let’s take a look!

I worked on the design for this game. -Although only for the publisher, not one of the real artists at Invictus! I haven't had a windows system since XP, but thanks to seeing how compatible is it in this video, I might have to get something set up!

I miss the days when Hungarian developers were more numerous and kept coming up with various original ideas for games, regardless of genre. I'd never bet this is another Hungarian-developed game from the 90s or early 2000s.

Maaaan, I remember when I used to play this with my dad. He was so proficient at it that he managed to find different glitches and bugs that he'd use to win different challenges. If my memory serves right, there was also a Hungary level and I asked my grandma, who is from that country, to look at the game and tell me if it looks like the place where she was born, she immediately started laughing. This game was a blast. Good review!

You have missed the fact that this game lacks bots for online play, which could have had helped the title stay relevant longer as well as the fact that besides repairing the car feature, there is also an rescuing the car feature, which will definitely help you if you are stuck somewhere in the terrain and can't get out easily, but don't wanna lose time trying to - Rescuing will simply respawn your car in an random spot on the map. It also uses the 3 seconds punishment system thing. Overall an pretty darn good review though! :)

Just bought it on GOG, because this title screen with plate reminded me of "something", it was worth a dime. I got flashbacks from when I was, like 7 years old and my older brothers show me that game. Good old days

Imagine a remastered version of this game. The graphics, the sounds, the models! This game is still amazing. I remember when my cousins gave me their old PC and a few CD disks. One of them had the game on it. I remember playing it and getting confused because I didn't know English by the time. I belive it was probably a cracked version of the game. It was worth playing.too bad there are no games like this anymore
Sometimes i imagine myself sitting for hours in front of my long gone PC (pretty good at the time being) and playing 1nsane joyfully. I really do miss this game, it's been years... I got it when i was like 3 years old, the very beginning of 00's. Awesome review, fella, you have my +1 for that. :' )

Can mods (specially tracks) still be found on the net to this day? It would be important for people to make backups of these files before they disappear :(

did you know there are other cars and maps you can download? there use to me a website you could have user made cars, trucks, and even a couple air planes!

Damn, i have still some of the cars/planes i downloaded on my harddrive. The big Komatsu 930E truck was awesome :D And some of the models are really well made with excellent damage system.

This game's predecessor was a little tech demo called Terep 2, I believe it is still available for download. It was standard issue on our school's computers, and we loved the open world aspect of it.

This game was fecking awesome destruction zone was my game. Codemasters lost a customer when they closed the servers despite plenty of people willing to pay to keep one up and running. Man I played this to death
I loved this game to bits, i played it a LOT and especially loved the truck class. The 8x8 Behemoth was my favorite at first but then the 6x6 Goliath took over. I was thinking back about it recently and it became really obvious to me that i should have been trying to get into the motorsports a lot sooner, the hints were there but i didn't connect the dots.
Love it to this day! Still play it ;) Have it on my HDD :)

Reviews be dmaned, the preview of how the game lacks boundaries draw me in. Yeah the car models might be subpar compared to contemporaries but it's just more than amazing...

Hello guys I been trying to find a game that is like this I played it on PC the game it was a open world the cars got damage when you crash I remember the car I mostly used was the beetle I also remember You used to run In like a brown dessert There was some high cliffs that you can jump off. and the car will get really damage I cant remember the name of the game it was pretty fun can someone help me if they remember the name.
Was it an early MS-DOS game? Late 80s? Early 90s?

@@itsaPIXELthing no, The most I remember about the game is the damage on the cars if you crash you'll see it on the car also the tires will set off place I remember I had that game, need for speed underground around that era. also I remember A dessert with cliffs that you can jump off and the car will get really damage I mainly play on that map That is the only map I remember And there was 2 main car A beetle and A pick up truck

My grandfather gave me this game back in 2006 and I have noticed you don't even need to have the cd in to play it, just borrow over the PC to everyone you know and play multiplayer!

I love this game, used to play it online for years (more like decades really).
If you were playing on CMN too, we might actually have played against each other at some time :D
I almost always used the Baja Bug or something else, because everyone were usually driving the Utility truck.
I was an active modder in the community back in the day, I made mostly skins and maps and later vehicles too.
Still hasn´t been a game with better physics since, at the time I thought soft-body physics were to become a new standard for racing games , but sadly didn´t.
I still use Insane as the main inspiration for my own racing game project´s physics and damage model :)

I played this game today for the first time and I have to say it's really good game to play, even when the graphics got old. I have to get an inexpensive racing wheel for my laptop to enjoy it even more.

By pressing F8 extremely useful in game camera mode is turning on. In this in game camera mod (F8 POV) the in game camera is in the "third person view" mode and lies behind the car and camera is moving with your front wheel and your steering wheel synchronously. In every standard in game camera mode your car will turn around at high speed. If you switch your in game camera in F8 mod you will never turn around at high speed.

Try to finish the extreme class championship and then say it's a good game! :D The physics feel like the cars are made of rubber. Also whoever thought the capture the flag gamemodes were fun should be put into jail.
For a game released back in 2000 I think it's freakin' amazing! And yeah, the capture the flag mode is super fun! Never had so much fun with such a mode in a video game! 😊

I remember this game so well from my childhood. Loved it and played a lot.
Interesting review. I'm wondering what the point of the more expensive GOG version is if the cheaper disc version still runs on modern systems.
Yeah! I just wanted to highlight that point ;) What I don't know is if the game crashes when trying to install it from the original dvd. I have mine on the hard drive since 2000! :)

+It's a Pixel THING Did you use a crack to remove the disc check and forgot about it? The UK version used a disc checker even for a full install. I always install cracks to games I legally purchase as I find disc swapping annoying.
Just installed from the original disc with no issues. If you have a physical copy of the game you obviously need to have the serial key for the instalation, then just choose full install and you wont need the disc. During the instalation process it even tell us that, if we choose full install, we wont be needing the CD to play or any kind of disc checker ;) Now, the thing that I've learned from this process is that, for the game to run, we must have "insanepatch2.exe"! Download it from the following page and you're good to go ;)

I think the point of having games not on CDs is that not everyone really even _wants_ their games to be on CDs as those can take up space. And even besides that, just not everyone even needs an physical copy of their games.

grande review de um grande jogo,na epoca ja so tinha Pc,e joguei muito mas muito este jogasso,era grande vicio com os meus colegas,mas nunca jogeuei online,tb joguei muito os 4x4 evolution,tb eram muito bons back then...os graficos e o Damage na epoca eram brutais..la esta o titulo ta mesmo apropriado,era Insane mesmo :D
muito bons modos de jogo,bons tempos,vale a pena recordar o tempo e horas passadas no Motocross Madness 2 so fazer saltos,truques e a subir e descer montanhas :D

Este título traz-me sempre boas memórias de grandes jogatanas em LAN parties, que também elas estão em vias de extinção.. Quando encontrava alguém online para jogar era uma festa, naquela época dos modems 56k (por isso o 56k está na "matrícula" 1NSANE que aparece na capa do jogo!
Infelizmente este foi outro título que muito pouca gente jogou na altura, só mais tarde o descobriram.. e não era por ter proteções maradas contra pirataria! Bastava fazer uma cópia do CD e nem era necessário crack para ele funcionar! :)

What do you mean by game setup? The game runs flawlessly on any windows computer without messing around with setup settings.
I bought this game at a local store (wasn't even game shop) for sale for stupid cheap with alot of others. Some of them had nasty malware, but honestly, I still put an insane amount of hours into 1nsane. Definitely a lot of nostalgia in this one, I'll never forget the little 1nsane license plates.

I mean the Demo-Disc at 1:24 , never seen a retail release coming with a demo-disc.
In germany we always had to get out Demo fix from magazines. ^^
Ahhhhhhh! Yes! It brought an official Codemasters' Demo disc ("Showcase 2000/01) with some goodies (for the time), like: a playable demo of 1NSANE, a movie file from Colin McRae 2, a demo of Music 2000, a demo of The Realm, a demo of Severance - Blade of Darkness, a movie file from Snooker and another movie file from Flashpoint ;)

even though monster truck madness 2 came out a month before i was born, its one of my favourite games ever made, i played that game constantly for years when i was a kid... i dont think i played a single "new" game until i was 14 lol
