I have played Lotus 3 for MS-DOS very often. Maybe because of the split screen mode and these hypnotic soundtracks. Also Micro Machines, Moto Racer, Stunt Car Racer and first of all, Test Drive. But the best Retro Car driving games where, for me, NFS 3 and Colin McRae Rally.
My father was a huge racing games during the PS1 and PS2 era. I grew up playing Demolition Racer, Destruction Derby and later on the awesome Burnout series. The original Carmageddon BLEW my mind back in the day, and last year I got a copy for the PS1, not as good as the PC version but still, a cult classic that deserves a place in my collection. Dam that Revolt game =O I think I played it at a friends house on the N64 back in the day. I need a copy of that one now...thanks Pixel =D Great video.
Yeah, I've played a ton of the first Mega Race! It was my first CD-ROM game ;) I've recently brought to the channel some gameplay footage of the 3 games of the Mega Race series. Check those out! I can't get out of my mind the background music from Mega Race 1 while playing ;)
I believe Monster Games bought a version of Papyrus' engine to make Viper Racing in 1998? if you haven't already I'd suggest checking out Viper Racing! it's one of my favorite games from my childhood
Great look back. I liked Revell Backroad Racers. The graphics weren’t all that great but it was fun building a model Chevelle or Mustang and having a tie in to race it. The game showed you how those models assembled too. The little videos were fun with the rival racers.
great stuff. My time was spent mostly playing Stunt Car Racer, F1 Grand Prix and Lotus1 for Amiga then Toca 1 for Psx and then the Race Driver series for the original Xbox. Wasn't part of pc up to about 1999 and while I certainly followed a lot of the games, seeing some more like this is definitely interesting. I did eventually play Grand Prix Legends in 2000 I think and was left very impressed for how realistic it was and because for the first time in a game of this type, tyre marks left from skidding was now a thing- I'm sure this was one of the first games to do that

I really loved an old PC racing game called “Ignition”. It was a micro machines style arcade racer. Also some Daytona style game that came with my Voodoo2... Amazing Race? Someone will remember!
Yeah, I show a little bit of footage of Ignition in the end of this video :) Also made a gameplay video a couple of months ago ;) Not really familiar with Amazing Race. Have to look it up ;) Thanks!

Amiga version is my fave also but I first had it on Spectrum, which was somehow still playable ;) Same sound pack but graphically both the Amiga and ST versions look slightly nicer to me. I still play Live for Speed, Re-Volt, and 1nsane to this day. I'm only listing PC games from that period because if I started listing all the PS1 racing games I played I'd be here all week. Oh heck, I totally forgot about 4D Sports Driving/Stunts, that game was great at the time, but it's awful to try to play it now.

Screamer 2. I feel nostalgic seeing that. Possibly the only racing game where I've unlocked all secrets if I've understood correctly. Big red racing was awesome fun game too. Grandprix Legends is also so good. It's "only" about 10 years ago when I still played it online with few good friends every weekend. From more modern online racers Live for Speed was also great fun. Indy 500 was an amazing old DOS game. Played that for hours. Nascar was great to look at, especially in SVGA, but it ran like shit even on my 486-DX2-80Mhz. It ran great on my P133 when I finally upgraded but by then it was old.
