- Hey everyone, it's Jim from Import Image Racing. Today, we're shaking things up with an unorthodox video. Just got word that the TOMEI container arrived with titanium single and dual exit exhausts for the VB chassis WRX.
We were in the middle of filming another video, but we're switching gears to unbox and install these TOMEI exhausts. First up, the TOMEI Type R (single)!
Unboxing reveals the high-quality components, resonated midpipe, and sleek titanium mufflers. The TOMEI Type R fits effortlessly onto the VB chassis. We do a sound check, and you can tell there's a noticeable difference from what we had before.

We have seen success not using a catback adapter for the 22+ vehicles. But we can’t guarantee 0 leaks without it!

as a fan raw Ti, I would use some cleaner to remove the bluing and let it blue naturally. I'm guessing that is what Tomei did on the pie cuts and other places there are welds. Then artificially blued the tip and front of the muffler. Still a nice product though... So, what is better single exit left, single exit right, or dual exit?
I actually removed the blue, and it never naturally came back.

Anyone know how much louder is this than the MAP mufflered catback? That one has a rough resonance boom between 1900-2000 rpm that occadionally sets off knock sensor. Thinking of replacing with Tomei dual exit, but trying to find info on how much louder it is.
Judging by the muffler design, the Tomei should be a tad louder... As far as the audible difference between the two... not sure exactly!

Do you have all stock piping with this beside the exhaust itself?
The vehicle was equipped with the ETS J-pipe at the time of filming.
If they did a dual quad tip? I’d buy it in an instant for my STI.

Do you see that the resonator actually helps with the drone that you wuld have with the noble?
In our personal experience, the Noble has minimal “drone”, especially compared to muffler deletes. The resonator seems to create a deeper rumble than the Noble.

I'm loosing my mind trying to figure out what catback I want. Lol. I have the invidia 400. But after 6 months with that I wanna go louder.
The R400 is a great kit! But if you’re looking for more Volume.. I would suggest this Tomei or even the Noble Titanium!
