Surely for a beginner video showing how to prep the caulk tube and nozel would have been a good idea, otherwise no amount of squeezing will get the caulk out.
Thank you. This from a woman who's never used a caulk gun and has no one to get advice from. Using a caulk gun seems very simple but if you've never done it tips are helpful.
Thank you Lynn Pritt. Believe it or not the hardest thins for our employees to get is the caulking. I’m happy it helped!!!
@@theglassguy5564 Same. Never used one and no one to show me how. Thank you!
Thank you so much. I had knives and other tools getting ready to open it like I missed something. I will never be scared of these things again thanks to you!!
Thank you! I haven't used one for decades and thought I knew how, but it wasn't working. So I looked it up, and you had the perfect video. Turns out I doubted myself because it wasn't working right away, but I just needed to be patient. Your video gave me the confidence to just continue what I was doing to get it started. Bet you didn't think such a small video would be such a big help, but it was! Thank you! 🙏💙
Thanks for the tip. Very helpful.
Looks great! Here from VRA. My husband uses his all the time, but it was nice to hear a tutorial about how to use it. I didn't know about the release on the back. Good to know when I help him with projects.
Glad to hear we could help!! We will be putting out more content on caulking as well as other topics to help keep your house looking great!
I wish you had covered how and where to cut the tip before using. Makes sense for a first time user.
Hard agree. Totally jacked that part up. There are tick marks on the top to let you know the diameter of you cut it. Also: the spout cutter can be useless. I would use a knife to cut it.
@@karaokelola its a joke
That’s why I chose this video--it said for beginners--I really needed to know how/where to cut the tip to begin.
When you buy the caulk gun the plunger part is fully pressed in. How to get it out to even place the caulk into the cradle. Instructions rarely tell you EVERY step if you’ve never done it before.
Bonita Walker. Yes Sometimes it’s hard to cover every detail. So if it’s like the one in the video the little tab/lever that is right behind the handle if you press that in and at the same time pull back on the plunger it will open allowing you to insert the caulk tube. However if your gun dosent have a tab/lever some you just pull straight back and others you have to turn or twist the plunger and pull back. Kind of why I didn’t mention it is because there are different style guns with different ways to do it. Possibly I will get all the different types and show this in another video.
The Glass Guy thanks, I got it.
Thank you, it helped me!
Thank you Chris
Thanks very helpful
Thank you. I can stop calling my son and do it myself. It look so easy
Thanks for the video =)
Nice Caulk!!!
I wish you had explained how to open the tube
Thanks dude!
Thank you Wednesday Misener
so informational!!
Thank you glad hope it helped!
Informative *
Thank you 👍
Thank you Gregory Sr.
Good
Thank you
Hope it helped!! Vanessa b. What other topics would you find helpful?
nice
A beginner needs to know the most important thing and that how to draw back the PLUNGER !!without knowing im stuffed
I watched this video at school and now I'm in detention because this video had the word 🔫 in the title.
how do you seal the caulk after you are done with it -because you cut the tip of the caulk
I'm confused... My caulking gun doesn't have a release lever on the back. How do I get it to stop flowing?
Thanks!
It would be more helpful to also show how to release the tube out of the caulk gun which I have a problem with now. thank you for your tip.
Press the release button then pull out the stick and the tube is free
Woah that's alot of caulk
But how do you release the gun when you first buy it?? NONE of the videos show this. Gun is getting returned 😞
Im sorry that was possibly overlooked. Different caulk guns release the plunger differently some just pull strait back nothing else needed some you have to twist the plunger upside down and pull back and if you have a gun like the one in the video you hold the release lever in and pull back on the plunger. Hope that helps.
That's what I am trying to find out! Damn thing won't open! No video explains how to first open them :'(
Exactly my point. Useless video.
I like to wipe the tip of my caulk with a towel as well
Why does the trigger get stuck once it touches the back of the caulk tube
0:36 see straight away you didn't show how you got it to that position so now I'm lost UNBELIEVABLE
I can't get the tube of caulk out ugggh Edited to add: I finally figured out the bottom of the tube had busted so the caulk had solidified around the presser and it wouldn't go back far enough to let the tube come out. I finally got the rubbery caulk out and it was all rusted in there...So need a new caulk gun now.
Sounds like something that would happen to me! So frustrating, when it should be so easy, lol!
What about how to get the thing in the cartridge? That’s not for beginners.
The caulk spills front the back not the front... what I did wrong?
S-E-C-A I assume from the back you mean the caulk is coming out of the back end of the tube where the plunger sits. There are a few reasons that could happen.
1- you did fully open the tube. Use the poker tool or a thin screwdriver to poke down inside the tip of the caulk tube.
2- of the caulk tube has been open for a while or is old the caulk at the beginning of the tube may have a hard spot of cured caulk. This would block the top and force the caulk out the back of the tube.
3-some thicker caulks take time to come out of the tip especially when cold. You may have squeezed too hard to fast and the caulk took the the path of least resistance.
Hope this helps.
@@theglassguy5564 Thanks... It was new so Probably was #3
S-E-C-A let me know how it goes if you try again. What kind of caulking were you using?
“I like to leave the tip of my caulk nice and sloppy” 😂
2:43
The gun pushed through the backend of the silicone tube and splattered everywhere. This is so difficult. It's just silicone.
Faux Fox I will say it’s not easy it’s a skill that takes time. You may have squeezed to hard to fast or had something blocking the tip like a hard spot on the caulking.
@@theglassguy5564 I did not poke a hole through the front end of the tube the first time. I got it working now thank you
Besides the poor lighting, you didn't do enough explanation of the release gadget, where it should be placed while loading the caulking.
Elaine EikeIm a glass guy not a producer. But getting better. The release is different for different guns some don’t even have one. Typically you only press it to top the pressure on the tube or to hold it down to pull back the plunger to remove the tube.
thanks for showing us each but skipping the puncture illustration and clipping tool on the handle...useless video unless you show us step by step...cmon man
Omg, I'm looking for the very beginning of how to make, the silver bar that pushes on the bottom of the caulking tube, retract. Without twisting the lever 15 million times. I know how to insert the tube & pull the trigger, duh 🙄
not all caulk guns are exactly the same but most you can depress the release lever and simply slide the plunger back hope this helps!
I just went through the same thing. The solution for me was to keep turning. It took about twenty minutes, but I finally got there.
kornutt4eva- my thoughts exactly. And the Glass Guy's comment doesn't help.
Would have been helpful to actually see you USE the caulk gun rather than explain it.
Phil Campbell that will be in another video. Depending on what type of caulking you are using there are different techniques.
Why does it have a puncture tool?!
Thank you Michael Grant McCauley some caulking tubes have a typically foil that needs to be punctured this is so the caulk doesn’t dry out.
This was the most sexual tool video I’ve ever watched
Nothing is coming out so I think there is one thing left out of the video.
Did you remember to puncture the tip
If nothing is coming out of your caulk you may need to consult a doctor...
I worked at a Taco Bell. They use something that looks like a caulk gun to dispense sour cream!
Part of the reason why I don’t eat fast food John Aranita 😂
I love using my colck!
Jack Mehoff I’m sure you do thanks for sharing
@@theglassguy5564 I use my colck all over the house
Ohhh so it's caulk. I been saying cork for years
Thank you Come Correct 🤣
Welcome to fact or cap😞😥
Couldn't get thru the full video without laughing...yes I'm still immature
Is anyone else uncomfortable watching him talk about caulk sitting on an upholstered sofa?
betford2 would you rather it be a leather sofa?
I need to listen to a woman. He skipped a lot of info.
What info do you think I skipped happy to try to cover it in another video
