No, I wish I'd have had my swimming gear as I probably would have. It would be a good place to learn as the waves are quite tame but there are other beaches nearby with more challenging surf too. 👍 ~ Lee

Would you suggest staying in Baleal or a nearby town? I will surf there if the weather permits in December but mainly looking for a town to move to where I can afford the rent when I retire next year, is cooler, and greener if possible. North of Lisbon for sure. Thank you for your videos and time commenting.
You could stay in Baleal, it's quite small really, or nearby Peniche. Another option is to stay in Caldas da Rainha. It's quite a pleasant city and a good base to visit both Baleal and Nazaré. There are a few buses a day to both. Baleal is a short drive from there. House prices are very reasonable around that area too.

@@surfsiren1026 If you can't find much in Baleal itself, you could look in Ferrell which is quite a pleasant village just 1km inland from Baleal. I imagine accommodation would be much cheaper there, as are the shops and cafes (More local prices). We are in the process of making a video about it but it probably won't be done for a few weeks yet. Good luck.
