The short answer is...yea basically lol. More information came out while I was making this video. 😁 Depending on how easy it is to find the mercer spheres, there may not be a need to direct specific items into the depot remotely. But, if you don't want to go mercer hunting or if you fall off a cliff and lose 20 of them, maybe you'll need my system? lol Either way, we'll find out next week!
The second I saw this weeks video I thought of you and your remote switch. Maybe you were their inspiration! If it is any consolation, I created a version also based off of your concept that is now redundant.
just realized you could make essentially a variant of this that feeds in to a line that feeds to a bunch of those DD (dimensional depot) so you can essentially have lets say 7 DD bringing in the stuff at the same time it will make you gain specific items at a insane rate and you can just switch on one item for a few seconds and then switch to another and even if you only have the first upload unlocked thats already 210 per minute remote access.... and you can actually pretty easily make a setup with 20 DD and 60 upload speed for a 1200 per minute upload speed for specific item at a time or divide it among how many you need...
I am fairly sure that the storage is built with Mercer spheres, so there will be a limit to how many you can have. I think the biggest issue is the belts will likely back up.
This isn't really an issue if you just use one dimensional depot per item. Even if they are limited, they're not so limited that you won't have enough for all the different building materials you need a lot of. Probably won't be enough for every type of item in the game, but it isn't really necessary to have every item in the game always available.
Backing up from the belts is solvable. Just need an overflow right before the depot and grab the extra into your inventory to clear the last of the line.
At the moment there are 35 materials used in building, 34 if we don't include biomass for the one building, and 151 mercer spheres. Both these numbers are subject to change of course, and we know there will be more building materials, but it's looking quite likely that you will be able to hook up every single item you want to the storage including some extra space for ammo/filters/fuel. But i still think a train transport system for basic parts will be important early game before you've expanded too much.
@@Kinstruction (I can't find my original awnser, but I think that comment was for me... right? If not, please ignore 😅) I particularly don't think having the depot in the steel level is early. You will have found at least 5 spheres up to that point, so using them at that level I think is fair... (btw, my source is the Coffee Stain video "This Solves the Biggest Problem in Satisfactory..." at 20:03)
Yes it was a response to you. I will say now that we know how slow the item upload speed is, 240 per min I guess? Then It makes more sense that it is that early. Plus yes, we'll need a bunch of spheres too. I guess I'll find out tonight! lol (though I don't think I'll make steel in my first livestream)
I think this makes your remote switch even better. For example your working on a railway, you can only upload so many parts to the storage at a time. Just send constant flow what you need.
Right. It depends on that upload speed and how easy the mercers are to get. I do think there's something to be said for having options. But is it worth the hassle? Not sure. :)
Since this video came out before the release of 1.0 and thus people didnt know the full limits of the storage depo; here are the facts. Spoilers for anyone who wants to figure things out on their own. It takes a Mercer spheres to build a depot containers/uploader giving a hard limit to the amount you can build. Additionally you use the spheres in the MAM to upgrade their capabilities. That being said, if you hunted down every sphere on the map, you would have enough to fully upgrade the depot and still have enough to build about 200 uploaders. You may need to spend some time hunting spheres down, but their should be enough in the game for whatever you need. Initially the upload speed is 15 but can be upgraded (aka doubled) four time to 240 items per minute per uploader. If you think you need 480 concrete uploading per minute, have concrete flow into two different uploaders to acheive that speed. As for the amount of items you can keep uploaded, you start off with the limit of one stack per unique item type. This can be upgraded four times, giving you an additional stack with each upgrade. Their is no limit on the amount of unique items you can have in the cloud. You can run into issues if you are feeding a sushi belt into an uploader, however, that is more of a problem with the early game when you don't have alot of spheres yet to upgrade and/or give items their own uploaders.
I love it! During the live stream this is almost exactly what I invisioned. They said there are alot of mercer spheres now so, I think what you can really do is just have a single upload point at each factory and control the output via power switches.
Yea, the livestream came out when I was uploading the video. :) I think there might be some edge cases it will be useful, but for the most part, bring on the spheres!
the dimensional depot, from the looks of things. hold 5 stacks of any item. so what i am going to do it just have one depo for the most common items and feed them directly from my main storage, so that it will always refill when i take things out
Miner > Belt > Merger > Belt > Splitter > Belt > Smelter > Belt > Merger > Belt > Splitter > Belt > Constructor > Belt > Merger > Belt > Splitter > Belt > Sink At each merger is a smart splitter that puts the item into the line there so you can approach a building and dump all into 1 storage to be automatically distributed. At each first splitter after product is changed is a storage be it regular, industrial, or dimensional.
Even if you have a depot for each common item, your design will be awesome for niche item requesting (HMFs, SCs etc), or even a bespoke ammo/fuel depot for long distance violence
I agree that the DD (Dimensional Depot) will back up belts when full. Assuming it takes 1 mercer sphere per DD we build, I'll have every factory depositing items into the DD and overflow will move on to my main mega-storage facility. If 60/min isn't fast enough (concrete for instance), then I'll need to create more DDs until desired throughput is achieved. If however mercer spheres are only required to research the DD and not for building the DD buildings, then holy hell does that change things! I'll just have an array of DDs at every factory uploading items as fast as possible until they max out before overflowing to the main storage facility. So when I'm out in the world, theoretically, items should be getting uploaded faster than I can use them, even with blueprints.
Ha, I just watched your other videos and had this exact question. Great timing. I'm curious why you didn't show the drone version here though. And anyway, your system is still an elegant solution for dynamically and remotely choosing which of many items go to an output, or in other words a significant upgrade to programmable splitters.
Well I wanted to keep it simple with the video and focus on just the switch portion, not the method of transportation portion, since that is clearly the biggest thing that is replaced. And I wanted to keep it short and not go into the specifics on how the mechanics work, but yea the packager version is a lot better than the iron smelting version for sure. Good way of thinking about it, remote control programmable splitters.
Sounds like your blueprint will definitely automate the refilling portion since there’s an upload limit, but you’ll most definitely have to tweak your design around limited storages as I’m assuming they will require the sphere
Well, we should have enough spheres for all the storages we'll need. But like you said, depending on upload speed, maybe we remote switch on some extras.
My guess is, that the new CloudUploudThingy will work similar to the Sink and MAM systems. There is only one CloudStorageServer that can be accessed from many CloudUploudThingies. However, there might be a limit of that 'upload clients' and maybe the server dictates the overall upload rate, that is limited on server side. But maybe I'm wrong as I have installed and maintained far too many FTP server in my live. :D But your question was: What happened when one item storage is full on server? The easiest way to deal with this is to have one 'upload client' for each item - or you put your send system in front of it. But, how your system knows when it should stop sending one item? My best guess is: there might be a mix of using the current possibilities and the new ones depending on the situation. To be honest, I mostly run for a few _different_ items from factory to factory. I don't need all items in my personal cloud. And if there are only 3 stacks available in the cloud, you will run for these items anyway. I will only expect a mitigation and no solution of the biggest problem. Did Snutt mention the number of mercer speres in any way? I don't think so and I would not be surprised when they would change number and location of mercer shperes and soomerloops as well as ore nodes. I'm really looking forward to see the full surprise with 1.0. There are some more wishes on my list and that are not addressed by any teaser. He said in a livestream later in the day that we'd have enough mercer spheres for every item in the game, maybe even two per item. :) I'm looking forward to all those features in 1.0 as well. I can't wait.
I think if you still build a shopping mall for your items you can put a couple storage containers with the dimensional depot at the end so it refills quickly, you can probably skip selecting what goes into it. plus if you put a couple depots you can fill the depot twice as fast for stuff like concrete that you might use much faster than it replenishes.
Personally, I like your original approach and will try to implement it in 1.0. Once I get my head around it 😋 The dimensional storage is really only to simplify the personal inventory for me. It will be very useful but not a game changer.
To me the depots big draw is the fact you have access from anywhere. That seems game changer to me. I would expect that to be pretty end game, but its unlockable well before end game I believe.
Dude the first thing I thought of when I watched their video this morning was yours. But I definitely think your blueprint is going to be extremely useful
Thing is once something backs up, you will have to manually go and delete the belt, as a smart splitter is in front of the depot. So I think there will be enough spheres to build a depot for each individual item.
nah, just do an overflow right before the box, then grab a bit more out of the depo to clear the last few items (they will go into the depot). Don't need to go back or anything.
It both does and doesnt. From what i understood of it it has stack limits, the simple solution to the stack limit is to hook up a box per itom in your main storage gallery. Itom flows from storage into your dimentional depot then storage fills up, and your overflow functions normally flowing into the sink. This will largely replace your bp. But say its a slow to produce itom and you empty your storage your screwed untill your factory production can catch up reguardless. Theres also going to be the upload speed at lower tiers.
You put one of the depots on every item you need to build with, then you have a never ending supply. Then send the extras to a hub/ main storage to pick up for your personal inventory when you are there. While your system is a great idea I don't feel it will be needed unless you just never want to go back to a hub/central storage area. Like Snutt said because of the slower upload you won't be able to spam down a mega factory and expect it to keep up. He also said in the stream with total and bitz the number of mercer spheres has been increased as well as being able to put 2 down with the same item going in to speed upload time.
Right. I think it could be useful if you don't want to find all the spheres, or maybe super early game. Overall, unless they are prohibitively expensive, it probably does replace this beast. But, at least I made mine 10 months ago lol
sure the depot is useful but its limited on the amount you can store in them but also as far as i know ( could be wrong ) you can't pull items for transport to other machines for other crafts
Yes it is very limited, when I get a chance, I'll be seeing if I can reduce that problem with my remote switch. Like turn on 10 depos for a single item I'm lacking. We'll see.
@@Kinstruction yeah I don’t think it matters, it gives you a limit in the inventory menu so if I’m depositing computers I can only do 100 of them regardless of how many deposits I have
I might still use your system at the start. The spheres and sloops having use now make me rethink whether I want to play passive mode with alt recipes unlocked.
@@Kinstruction Haha,, Well, I noticed ya, not sure that holds up but here I am. My buddy and I will do another build plan in 1.0 too but in the MP if it works good. I do not see many or any at all team plays. We enjoy the team work to build and conquer.
I'm excited to see what your next revision of the remote switch will look like! HYPE! will priority power switches work the same way? 1:21 am i also seeing that we can upload from inventory? I'm assuming that IF we can build multiple Dimensional Depots, each would take at least one Mercer Sphere... so having a remote switch in place of having a DD for each item in your Central Storage would be a nice option for earlier stages of the game, before we clean out the map of Mercer Spheres... Snutt mentioned that thats the only thing the MSpheres are being used for, yea?
I think we will be able to make multiple deposit boxes, enough for at least one per item, but not unlimited. Spheres will likely be a material to create them.
I think there's not enough meecer spheres on the map to support every item being delivered, especially with the upgrades to the depot seemingly costing more than 10 spheres each. Even if, when building at a large scale, you need massive amounts of Concrete, Iron Plates and similar items, and there's just not enough room in the depot to support that many items used per minute. your system may just get smaller, because the variety of items you need delivery for does.
Let's be real here, people will probably cheat mercer spheres with AGS if there are not enough, or if they don't feel like hunting for them. It's happened with hard drives and power shards and will probably happen with somersloops as well.
The problem I'm running into with the switch off system is that the items themselves will be backed up onto the belt right before the depot, and will remain there blocking whatever new item is behind them until you build things with the initial item to clear up some universal space.
@@Kinstruction Yeah you wrote that way better than I did. I think we can just use one depot for every item plus all the upgrades? I’m not sure if there’s enough spheres but I hope so.
True, but should be easy to clear by pulling one last stack out of the depot after you've switched it off, the last bit will flow in and clear the line.
Sounds like each depot is going to require a mercer sphere, so you have a finite limit of how many you can deploy. Don't forget they are also needed in the MAM. To me, this is unfortunate, because there's no way to make a simple sushi belt of multiple items without it backing up when one of them gets full. An overflow splitter isn't going to be able to get close enough so there will end up being one or two jamming up the works. If they were cheap enough to spam out there, then it wouldn't matter and you just set up an overflow to sink for excess and points. This can easily be fixed by modding in a recipe to the converter that can take one mercer sphere combined with something (maybe 1000 refined SAM or something) and have it output two of them (or some other crafting mechanism). ie, effectively duplicate them. Then, with work and time, you'd have enough mercers to deploy all you need to. Simple fix and not necessarily game-breaking.
I dont think the small backup is a problem, just grab a bit more from the depot into you inventory after you "turn it off" and it will clear the line. I agree with the rest though. Most likely solution is just to build one for each item.
I don't think the remote system will be worth it as things stand. There are 151 Mercer Spheres in the game currently (subject to change for 1.0 possibly), and no other use for them besides these cloud storage units and a few of them seem to be needed to upgrade things in the MAM. So there is no reason why you wouldn't want to have one for each individual item (or at least construction materials as well as maybe weapons and fuel), unless of course, there is another use for Mercer Spheres that they haven't told us about yet (teleportation for players maybe). Not unrealistic considering that the Somersloop has two uses.
Yea. I agree. His livestream happened when I was editing so I didn't see it until after the vid. The tool exists, and we will see if there's a use. That's a good thought about if they had a second use case.
as far as I understand it because there was another stream yesterday after the teaser with snutt , bitz and Totalxclipse We can upload every item in the game at the same time if we want , and not only that we can also increase the upload speed even further than the maximum of 240/min if we build for example 2 or more storages getting the same input item so we can get like 480 or 720/min of that item into the dimensional depot The “limit” snutt was talking about of how many items can be put into the depot at the same time was about the stack size not about the total amount of different items in the depot , and also the limit of items you can upload from your inventory into the depot So in a late game factory you could have every item automated with atleast 1 storage going into your depot or even 480-1000/min for items like concrete etc Also there is no limit of how many storages you can build as long as you have enough Mercer spheres
Right, the livestream came out just as I was finishing this video. I think having this customizability will be useful perhaps early game. I think you're right, by late game, and when you have enough spheres, one or two depots per item and you'll be set.
The obvious problem, however, is that you cannot reasonably connect an uploader to a sushi belt. That's because, for example, if there are iron rods on your sushi belt, and the depot is filled with iron rods, but not filled with other things, then smart splitters will happily send iron rods to the depot and cause it to back up. Once that happens, the blockage can only be cleared with manual player intervention, and the sushi belt will stop delivering items to that depot uploader altogether (even if some other item could be uploaded). That, in turn, implies you need at least one uploader for every single item that you want to have automated uploading, or you need to live with your uploaders occasionally getting blocked (which may be acceptable for low-volume items with large stack sizes, or in the early game when you still have enough free time to do things like that). Since you need a Mercer Sphere for each uploader, and those are a finite resource, this might prove to be a challenge.
@@NYKevin100I will just build one storage for each item at the end of a production line with the overflow being sunk in an awesome sink , it’s not gonna be that hard
True, But you could play with the order depending on if you don't want any items not available to your depot. If you overflow like you suggest, the items overflowed will be past the depot and unretrievable at distance.
hypercannon!!!! just use hypercannons if you need to go somewhere, it takes u 5 sec to fly across the map. I had to go into ur profile and see if u figured out the hyper cannons yet but i didnt find anything. This blueprint is wack dude, just use hypercannons please! xD

Dude the first thing I thought of when I watched their video this morning was yours. But I definitely think your blueprint is going to be extremely useful
I saw the title and I was like..dude, no way. Then it was the SAME problem lol.
Yea I agree. There's probably some edge cases where a more flexible system is useful, but the end goal will be full research and a box for every item.
We'll see.
@@Kinstruction but I don’t think it’ll matter because it’s limit per item
Regardless of how many depots you use?
@@Kinstruction yeah I don’t think it matters, it gives you a limit in the inventory menu so if I’m depositing computers I can only do 100 of them regardless of how many deposits I have
@@Kinstruction it’s one solid unit like any cloud service basically, from what I’m noticing
I might still use your system at the start.
The spheres and sloops having use now make me rethink whether I want to play passive mode with alt recipes unlocked.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to try 1.0 full on for the first time. You can always switch passive mode back on in end game.
❤ You Rock. You should get Snut on for an interview. Just saw him on Total and Blitz. Regardless, love your stuff.
I'm too small for Snut to notice me lol.
@@Kinstruction Haha,, Well, I noticed ya, not sure that holds up but here I am. My buddy and I will do another build plan in 1.0 too but in the MP if it works good. I do not see many or any at all team plays. We enjoy the team work to build and conquer.
Yea, I did multiplayer with my brother for awhile, Its pretty fun for sure.
Right, if it takes one for one, then it would be helpful to be able to have some sort of sushi belt you can control remotely.
We'll find out soon!
This is an amazing great job.
Thank you!
I think we will be able to make multiple deposit boxes, enough for at least one per item, but not unlimited. Spheres will likely be a material to create them.
Yea, at least one per item for sure.
Satisfactory | Minecraft
Storage Container | Chest
Industrial Storage Container | Double Chest
Dimensional Depot | Ender Chest
More code? I'm into it
I think there's not enough meecer spheres on the map to support every item being delivered, especially with the upgrades to the depot seemingly costing more than 10 spheres each.
Probably.
The problem I'm running into with the switch off system is that the items themselves will be backed up onto the belt right before the depot, and will remain there blocking whatever new item is behind them until you build things with the initial item to clear up some universal space.
Yea you'd have to pull one more stack out after you turn it off.
@@Kinstruction Yeah you wrote that way better than I did. I think we can just use one depot for every item plus all the upgrades? I’m not sure if there’s enough spheres but I hope so.
Snutt said there'll be a enough for 2 per item, maybe more.
@@Kinstruction nice!
I think the real weak spot of the depot is the speed at which you can upload. I think it may need some special help. :)
Now that’s freaking clever!
Well, now it may be a solution in search of a problem lol
So it backs up,I thought let's use an overflow splitter, but that would not clear the items the tiny belt between the splitter and storage
Pretty sure there are more mercer spheres than build items
That's a good thought about if they had a second use case.
as far as I understand it because there was another stream yesterday after the teaser with snutt , bitz and Totalxclipse
We can upload every item in the game at the same time if we want , and not only that we can also increase the upload speed even further than the maximum of 240/min if we build for example 2 or more storages getting the same input item so we can get like 480 or 720/min of that item into the dimensional depot
The “limit” snutt was talking about of how many items can be put into the depot at the same time was about the stack size not about the total amount of different items in the depot , and also the limit of items you can upload from your inventory into the depot
So in a late game factory you could have every item automated with atleast 1 storage going into your depot or even 480-1000/min for items like concrete etc
Also there is no limit of how many storages you can build as long as you have enough Mercer spheres
Right, the livestream came out just as I was finishing this video. I think having this customizability will be useful perhaps early game. I think you're right, by late game, and when you have enough spheres, one or two depots per item and you'll be set.
@@Kinstruction either way 1.0 is gonna be epic, great video btw
If you overflow like you suggest, the items overflowed will be past the depot and unretrievable at distance.
you cand build it for all items even 2/item
Yea, the livestream came out as I was editing/uploading the video :)
Very smart, i stole this
Steal away
Just build another storage
Probably, as long as you have the mercer spheres, thats going to be the best solution.
CSS, not CCS
Fat fingers strike again. I'll fix it when I get home. :)
RIP
Not all hope is lost. I have some ideas lol
hypercannon!!!! just use hypercannons if you need to go somewhere, it takes u 5 sec to fly across the map. I had to go into ur profile and see if u figured out the hyper cannons yet but i didnt find anything. This blueprint is wack dude, just use hypercannons please! xD
I did use hyper canons. And this blueprint. Its not ehack trust me and saved insane amounts of time. Slso, my save file git so big hypercsnnons crashed my game, but i used them for the first 700 hour or do fine.
You are fully missing the fact that you can use a lot of dimensional depots. We already know this is the case
Not when I made the video. And that doesn't mean we can use a lot of them early game.
honestly I dont like the dimetional depo at all i think its stupid they should add logistic system where you can use the remote delivery something similar to your creation ... they basically made an editor out of the game i dont like it at all
I'm seeing a few people with this take. I personally think its a good change, but it does seem like its unlockable pretty early.
@@Kinstruction i dont understand it if they would add a logic in the game and some remote control for the trains and also option to choose what will be loaded or unloaded exetra it would be way more interesting and complex ... this makes the game feel like moded or editor like. i would get it iif it would be the game end item but i dont know i am disapointed with this one
Right. Big thing to me is I guess it unlocks around steel? That feels way too early. End game would be better imo.
IT'S THE FEW-CHA!
Fewcha indeed.
