How To Fix Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) Windows 10/8/7

- If you receive Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) error in Device Manager, and your external USB device is not recognized by Windows 10, try this fix.
General Suggestions
- Connect the USB device to a different USB port: This will check if the issue is caused by a broken port.
- Try connecting your USB device to another computer: This will check if the external device has problem.
- If you have mixed 2.0 and 3.0 USB ports, or are using a USB hub, just try plugging your USB device directly into the 3.0 port and check if it works.

I had a code 38 issue. Searched everywhere. Nothing worked. But then found this. Disabled fast startup. Seems like it fixed the issue of not recognizing my external storage devices. Thanks a lot. 🙏🙏🙏

For fix 3 you should click view and then show hidden devices before uninstalling. Some of the broken drivers may be invisible if you don't do that first.

The first fix worked for me i changed the device into another usb 3.0 and it worked and i know this is gonna work cuz the wifi doesn't light up but when i changed it its light up again :)

I have a usb audio device that the manufacturer says it should auto install native USB 1 drivers. It shows up as unknown device on my main desktop and laptop. Green light on the device means its powered on and windows knows something is there but it refuses to detect or find drivers. Manufacturer wont help. What can i do?

mines wasn’t working and it’s because it had bent pins in the micro USB port
ive tried a bunch of things from different websites and videos. some of these things work but the notification pops up minutes later. the device i plug in is the h610PRO huion drawing tablet. any idea what i should do? i dont think the port or adapter is broken so... anything? i really just wanna draw :((

If you have not tried using another usb chord...as simple as it sounds try it because some brand new chords can produce this exact error message.

If your computer or laptop has usb.3.0 then fix one is working all you have to do is unplug your harddrive or any other usb then follow the steps in fix 1 in the video and when your done plug in the harddrive or other usb and it is done

hello, well i tried to to plug my headset, the one with this problem, to another pc, and it said the same thing, that is have a problem. Does that mean that my headset is broken?

guys ) just change your usb cable thats it ) Make it sure that usb cable that you are using matching with brand of your phone) for example the usb cable from OPPO phone will not work with Samsung phone

I have tried this and the enhanced power management enabled twice but I have yet to find a solution that makes my iPod Classic be anything but a failed usb device on my Windows 11 computer. Won't even charge for some reason but plugging it in makes the screen light up. Anyone know a solution? I got older computers but I'm trying to put movies on this thing with my main computer lmao.

i have a problem that i cant find on youtube.. when i put a usb bluetooth on pc the pc cant boot it stuck in loading screen.. but when i put it out or never put it at all the pc starts always normal.. Mines related to the power sleep deal except its on a windows tablet which only is able to run with the keyboard docking station that has the internal battery inside which is what the tablet runs off of. It sees the battery but the keyboard will not function nor the little mouse pad until i disable then enable the usb hub. I have to do this every startup to get keyboard and mouse to work. All other usb ports work fine.. it was a pain to actually get the thing to run off of the secondary battery and messing with boot is sketchy.. dunno why the internal primary battery wonr work.. got new for both but if i have both in than will not boot.. unplug the primary and everything works.. unplug secondary and onlt have primary in than wont display the charge status but will run off of primary only until it goes to sleep then it shuts down and windows wont boot again without removing the primary first.. is odd as hell. Is a venue11.. crappy tablet but really awesome with emulators on it for auto diagnostics because other auto diag tablets cost thousands and are dedicated with crap memory and processing..
