Glad to see people are starting to come around man. Last year I was defending Kerr from all the haters, but the more I thought about it, the more I tried searching for solutions in my head, trades, specific players playing better than they’ve been playing, blaming players not looking as good as expected for the teams struggles, but the more you think about it, the more all those problems eventually circle back to coaching. It’s atrocious. He constantly contradicts himself, so it’s clear he doesn’t even know wtf he’s doing at times. For example, his reasoning for not having a Steph/wiggins/kuminga/draymond or slowmo/ TJD or looney startinglineup is because there wouldn’t be enough spacing. Yet, you always see him using lineups with GP2/draymond/looney or any mix of players who can’t shoot and it’s clear that even though he says it’s for spacing it’s just cause he doesn’t fw kuminga. That’s what I think. And it’s especially unfortunate because I think now, would be the perfect time for that lineup to make a comeback. At the start of the season it made sense to break it up but now that Wiggins is flowing, kuminga is continuously improving both defense and offensively, and especially now that TJD looks like what you thought he was gonna look like, this is the perfect time for the comeback. This team can’t be tiny anymore, it’s just not feasible. Amd surrounding Steph with athletic lengthy defenders is the only way this team can succeed. Hell, just upsizing the lineup by using the goddamn players where they’re supposed to be played and not some fucken sg playing the pf position would do a lot for this team. Defense is this team’s identity, most games that they win are always low scoring games, the gritty ones. This team always looks at its best when it’s playing staunch defense. It’s just clear now more than ever that there has to be changes made and it starts with Kerr. Or rather with his removal, as I’ve been forced to come to terms to.

Kerr doesnt understand how to balance his own roster. I do think we need a better SG and possibly another center.
But it should be Steph, SG, wiggins, Draymond, Looney or another center. I know draymond sucks on offense, but his defense is needed. But we gotta have a scoring threat 2 next to steph that is also not a liability on defense( we cant have shroder here or buddy hield).
The bench has to be shroder surrounded with defenders.
    Shroder, GP2, kuminga, Anderson, TJD.
TJD should start, but Shroder needs PNR options, and lots of defenders.
Pnr threats with kuminga and TJD. Gp2 is poa defender and offensively is a great cutter, and Anderson is another ball handler/defender. Plus with anderson and tjd, thats 2 screening options for either Kuminga or Shroder. [Kerr tries to use podz here instead of Anderson, and podz sucks at screening, and doesnt have the size to defend forwards]. How many times have we seen podz have to defend Power Forwards?
Something has to be done with podz, hield, and moody if they cant fit in the proper lineups( and its not their fault, its just Kerr is using these players out of position( as Small/Power Forwards and whatnot)

So, if warriors were willing to extend/keep everyone, besides Shroder, and go into the tax, it's basically saying this roster, as currently constructed, is good enough to compete in the higher brackets of the playoffs... Are you not going to address the elephant in the room? The current small ball lineup is dumb as hell. The small ball lineup during the championship days were not the same as the small ball lineup now. They were not small by any means back then. The smallest people on the team were Curry and Barbosa. The rest of the team was 6'6" or taller. Kerr literally put in Schroder 6'1", Hield 6'4", Pods 6'4", Kuming and Looney last night to go scoreless to close the 1st quarter and give up a 7 point lead. The hell kind of lineup is that? If you watch the Warrior Games on NBC Bay Area with Bob Fitzgerald, every game he is amazed about some 3 point scrub who goes off hitting a crazy amount of 3s against the Warriors. Just take the game against the Lakers last night. Rui went off hitting 5/7 from 3 at 71.4%. The dude is normally a 22% 3 point shooter. At some point, it is not a coincidence anymore. No one is scared of getting blocked by short guards closing out on the 3. You can't have Curry and Schroder out there at the same time either. Put Schroder in with TJD and let them run a pick and rolls all day, Why is Slowmo getting DnP? He should be playing at the power forward position as a ball handler instead of Pods.

This is the best way for the Warriors to move forward. Obviously as long as Curry is on this team....Kerr will be too. The player to trade is Draymond. He can't score enuff, defense has slipped some and doesn't provide spacing. If u trade his salary instead of Wiggs....then the Butler deal or any deal looks better. U would then have SlowMo playing more, Curry, TJD, Wiggs, Butler/Lavine, etc. Now u have a more scoring lineup and still have good rim protection with TJD. Also, Dray presence hasn't allowed others to step up imo. He controls too much of the offense. Use his contract to trade....Not Wiggins

Firstly, Merry Christmas. Secondly, you are the most analytical and spot on nba commenter especially when it comes to gsw. I just don't have time to make these vids and to be quite honest I'd probably pull my hair out with what Kerr is doing. There is no reason to start Draymond now that you have Schroeder. For the last two years I've been saying that the only problem with gsw is one player, and his name is Steve Kerr. I was the biggest Kerr fan during his tnt years and knew he had a great basketball mind. When he joined gsw, while I liked Mark Jackson, I felt Kerr would have immediate success. He made the tough decision of benching Iggy and putting Harrison back in the starting lineup. Harrison played better with starters and Mark Jackson killed his confidence by placing him on the bench when Iggy joined the team. Now I see Kerr trying to kill JK and Moody's confidence by limiting their minutes and development. I have a theory on this. I could write for every on this topic but no need since you typical cover exactly what I and many others who follow(ed) the nba can see blind folded. I think we need to connect 😊

The Warriors have the pieces necessary. The coach needs to coach to the skills of the players. Draymond has negatively impacted the Warriors over the last three years. Remember no Poole, the suspensions, no score, no rebounds, and no Kaly. 😢 As you pointed out, Draymond is responsible. Finally, what do you think is Draymond’s value is on the open market? If the coaching staff is using the talent that they have, take any valuable option for Draymond. Steph will continue to be Steph. But Even Steph will become frustrated because bad coaching is kryptonite for Superman.

Even if GSW get big centers, Steve Kerr will frustrate them with his coaching. I beginning to understand why the Warriors are so slow to make trades. The team has what it takes to win, as we saw at the start of the season. Steve Kerr coaches with some kind of political agenda. He seemingly doesn’t want JK to shine cause that’ll cost the Warriors a big contract too early in his (JK’s) career. Never mind Moody’s happy for his 13mil,/yr., that was Kerr successfully holding him back for years otherwise GSW might have had to dish out more to retain him. I suspect Kerr is doing the same thing to JK. It’s hard to imagine Steve Kerr does not see the problems that are so fundamentally glaring and makes the difference between winning and losing. Kerr coaches with a political agenda. Just my opinion.

    Nice video & analysis.
DG’s issues are difficult. While I can’t disagree with DG’s offensive issues, there are 2 important things he does better than anyone else (1) Def & (2) gets SC the ball at the right time & in the right place.
With that said, Wiggins has been the most consistent player & likely should play more.
JK has been doing better, especially with vision, passing, & decision making. Hope this continues to improve consistently.
TJD - absolutely needs to play more. He’s great.
I thought there team defense intensity was too low overall & inconsistent as a team. Had moments where team def was good. Moments where individual defense was good, but many more moments where both were lackluster. When the went 12 & 3 their defense intensity was consistently off the charts.
When they went 12 & 3 BH was shooting like he was a splash brother, but now looks like a distant splash cousin.
When they went 12 & 3 turnovers were low.
All of this maters!!! Especially, when margin of error is low and the majority of your recent 11 losses are close games.
Not necessarily disagreeing with your DG assessment or your SK assessment. However, If GSW were more disciplined, consistently playing def at a high level, consistently had low turnovers, & as a team we’re in the top 10 in free throws, then they likely would have won 8 of those recent 11 losses & we would even be having this conversations.
As Kobe wouldn’t often comment - European players are taught & master the fundamentals better than US players. This is basic 8th grade/high school fundamentals. Focus, play hard def the whole game, make your free throws, & protect the ball. I’m not sure why they have such a hard time with this. SK knows this, it isn’t rocket science, it’s basic fundamentals. The players know this but they can’t seem to execute. If they did these 4 things at a high level & keep everything else at their respective current levels then they would be 23-6 and in 2nd place.
Not saying there aren’t other areas they could improve on or better game plans that could be crafted, but if they could just master those fundamentals consistently then they’d be a top 3 team.

Everyone sucks except Curry. Kerr won't play the young guys, but the young guys are underperforming for the most part. Podz has regressed massively, Kuminga is hit or miss (was -17 last night), and Kerr just hates Moody for some reason, won't play him no matter what.
The vets aren't doing great either tbh. Buddy hield has been the definition of inconsistent, when he's on we win games and when he's off we almost always lose. Slo-mo is too slow I guess, so Kerr doesn't want him in the motion offense. Draymond shooting too many 3's too- had that hot streak beginning of the season and now he's too trigger happy.

Yo Swish, appreciate the new video, happy holidays!
There are some voices going up to trade DRAYMOND because he holds the rotation hostage (unlocking JK at the 4, like where tf is Kyle Anderson??), for Jimmy, instead of JK and Wiggs.
Would that work? If so mind making a video on it?
If not, any other trade ideas including DRAYMOND you might see as an option for the Warriors?
    Cheers! 🙂

    • @SwishCulture
      @SwishCulture  18 дней назад +2

Thanks for the comment. Draymond does hold the lineups hostage. He was a tweener who didn't fit when he came in, but because of what Steph brought, they found a niche for him. Well...Steve Kerr is now trying to fit JK into that mold. He had the perfect storm with Steph, Klay & Draymond. While the motion can still work, the concept has to be redefined a bit.
Regarding trades, there are a few out there. If the Warriors could get Vuc/Cam I say go for it. Draymond's contract could net them something worthwhile. I haven't gone into the numbers, but the Warriors wouldn't have to give up the young players in that scenario.

@SwishCulture thanks for the reply! It would seem like a feasible/promising option!
And I'm not a Draymond hater, far from it, but I do feel something dramatic HAS to happen for this team to go ANYWHERE.
The 12-3 start just gave us such a curve ball lol, in reality at this very point I'm afraid they're barely a play-in team, once again. 😕😔😢😭

Great point about Draymond @SwishCulture. I’ve been seeing this for years. Draymond was hidden behind Steph, KD,Klay, Iggys and even Jordan Poole’s high Iq and youth. Now that Steph is slowing a bit due to age and the others are gone, Draymond’s ineffectiveness is being exposed. Steve Kerry is so loyal to(scared of) Draymond he won’t make the necessary adjustments and decisions for success of the current cast of personnel . Which ultimately makes him a bad coach and responsible for these losses.

Overall I agree that something has to change and the offense needs more ingenuity, and/or get new pieces. But the main analysis in this video doesn't seem consistent with what's been said about Draymond. When opposing bigs sag off of Looney, Draymond b/c they can't shoot, they become potent screeners for Steph or other long range shooters, since they can more easily get a solid screen for separation. When Steph gets off that screen it's an open 3. If the opposing defense respond with hedges or rotated help, is when Draymond's passing can come into play.
There's something there and I think there's enough to work with, like if Shrooder has the ball, and screener is TJD or Kuminga, while running off-ball action for Steph.

    Steve,
Your inability to make in game substitutions is glaring. Please stop forcing PIDZ on this fan base. Dennis can do what he does.
DO NOT keep Draymond in starting lineup. You have 2 live with JK + Wiggins @ the 3 & 4 spot.
Dray has 2 go in order 4 this organization 2 move forward.
Too much good & bad, keep losing & the real Dray is coming.
    SLO-Mo is enough.
Move Dray + Moody + 1st Rd pick to Detroit for Cade Cunningham.
(if they want PODZ, see ya).
A Cade + Steph works with Curry @ the 2 guard.
    With JK/Wiggins @ the 3 + 4.
It works for short & long term.
Either that or offer something to Charlotte for LaMelo Ball.
We need a leader @ the PG position & it isn’t Dray or PODZ or Dennis. Cade Cunningham is tall enough, great passer & a three level scorer.
    Think about IT?
