When you are learning you don't care how slow or boring it is because we want to see every single step. Most people go wayyyy too fast!! Thank you for taking the time to make this video for us. You explained this very well and I could see everything!!

If you think this is a long boring video, you should watch the crazy sock ladys video on after thought heels. 45 minutes. I didnt make it to the actual heel makimg part.

I'm pulled myself together, though, caught my breath and am amazed. Excellent video. Appreciate all the detail. I think this technique will work perfectly for a sweater I need to fix. I made a beautiful crew-neck sweater but didn't think to add short-row shaping to the neck so the back of the neck would come up higher than the front. I'll have to think about this some more and make sure I understand which way the shaping goes. Unlike with a sock heel, I'll probably have to close the opening with a kitchener stitch. My best bet will be to practice on a swatch.

As a Woman who is Very self-conscious of her hands (I have Muscular Dystrophy and is makes my hand movements rather stiff and spastic) I have to say your hand movements are quite beautiful and flowing when you knit. • @MichelMcDonald

I watch Arne & Carlos and they showed doing a heel similar, but they used waste yarn, but they never actually showed how to knit that on because they only knitted the waste yarn on the half of the sock that has the heel, so I can only assume he switched to the waste yarn, then because he was using DPN's, he turned his work back to the regular sock yarn and knitted over the waste yarn. I have no idea since I can't find the video showing how he added that. But I kind of like the way you did it because you didn't pull out 2 stitches on either end which prevented holes. I am definitely going to try this with my socks from now on, so thank you. And don't say your video is boring, it wasn't boring. It was very informative.

Thank you for this tutorial ... it was AWESOME!! I prefer to knit cuff down and am always worried about running out of yarn if I make the leg too long. Now I can split the skein in two, cast on the cuff and knit until I run out of yarn! Add a contrasting toe and heel (I don't like contrasting cuffs for some reason) and all will be right in my world. Thanks for expanding my sock addiction. :)

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I used it on my first sock and it was my first after thought heel. You made it so easy to follow. Not sure, but sounds like you from the south. I'm from Ruston, Louisiana. So from one southern gal to another, thank you for the video.

Came to your site from the grocery girls podcast. I've done toe up socks with a fleegel heel that I really like, but after watching your video I'm going to try this. Thanks
