I love my amp. I enjoy the smaller ergonomics compared to a lot of the modern markers, and the light weight compared to my older markers. This and my Adrenaline Shocker have hit a very happy median for me and my playstyle. My playstyle anymore consisting of a lot rec mechanical play and boy is this where the AMP platform shines hands down one of the best modern mechanicals out there the out of the box trigger of the mech frame is something of beauty.
@@SleepyInvaderZ The Adrenaline is actually XLS based but that isn't necessarily a bad thing as they also used the DLX ice coating on the XLS bolt honestly has a very smooth and consistent shot, one of my favorite markers I've ever owned. They tweaked other things there is a full list out there i remember seeing it on pbnation when they were coming out but it included regulator passage tweaks for better recharge rates. The only downsides at all of the Adrenaline vs the amp is the conversion from electro to mech takes longer (about 15min vs 2) and in theory you can short stroke the Adrenaline in mechanical f you don't have your trigger setup correctly its really hard to do and i can consistently send of strings of paint with it but it is worth noting since it is based on a dump valve spool vs a self timed spool. At the end of the day the Adrenaline was super cool for me to have because i still have my Adrenaline Impulse and Angel from the early 2000s so it was worth it to support a favorite Private label of mine coming back to the sport.
I'm a Planet Eclipse guy and I really like what I see with the 180R but I also own a GOG Shocker CVO and man it rips ! What a solid Mechanical marker super fun plus it comes with the Freak XL now I have all the great barrel systems! You can't go wrong with the Shocker Amp
I have an HK AMP and I just got a Thomas Taylor FBF 180R. I shot it for the first time today. It's really similar to the Shocker. The Shocker might have a little softer shot, but the 180R isn't broken in. I prefer the 180r Ergos a bit. Super closer performing though.
The next "big" breakthrough in paintball markers will be sonar eyes. No need to clean or keep up with them, broken paint wont effect them from reading a paintball in the chamber.
@@chillstep4life Yea would probably work better with radar (radio waves) vs sound waves. I made a stud finder in school using radar. Someone is rich off it now.
only thing wrong with the 180r is that i don't make parts for it. hehe. well, that and i've already got 2 170rs that i love. i won't be upgrading, but i'm sure some of my friends will pick one up and i'll get to shoot one!
I loved my Gtek 160r & XLS, I was set to upgrade to the 170r a year and half ago, but after playing a few games, with the AMP & 170R, I bought a new AMP & never looked back. After a year and a half with the AMP, I have no reason to upgrade, its utterly reliable, & absolutely rips. I still have my XLS & 160R as back ups.
Considering the sale and used price of a shocker amp it may even be something to compare with an etha3. If anybody has an opinion on which one they think is the better marker I'm all ears I kind of want one or the other.
I got a used AMP for like $600. You can really get some good deals used. I had an etha 3 originally and traded it in for that AMP. I honestly think the amp has a softer shot and idk if it’s cause of the freak xl barrel but the AMP shoots way more straight and accurate than my stock Etha 3 ever did. The all aluminum body and screen for programming is a plus too.
180r vs Geo4 We don't want gamma core vs terrible copy of gamma core Real question out of all the copies of gtek is there one that works for more than 2 years????
PE all day and I’m saying that as I’ve recently sent my Amp in to trade for PE. Terrible ergos, screen breaks for EVERYONE, can’t buy frames if you bend them unless you know a tech. Terrible ASA, not a toolless eye system. Need to use allen key to change battery. PE all day baby 😎
@@PaidFredTv 100% a bad gun. New marker from Shocker isn’t even out and the newest model Amp can be found for 600 with less than 5 uses. Mech frame for 120 used. That tells the whole story. Go look at the B/S/Ts. Everyone complains about Shocker. I literally just got rid of mine after a year of use and like 25 cases shot thru it. What from my list of issues was a positive? I didn’t even bother about how if you DONT play speedball the twist lock gets mud/grime into it and becomes almost impossible to lock unless you REWIPE and relube your entire bolt system to put it back in.
@@SleepyInvaderZ can’t argue with that I did just have to change my board for on my amp for no reason at all it just sent out but it definitely did me some justice when it was working well
@@PaidFredTv I literally just use my Axe instead bro idk 🤷🏽♂️ you right it’s 100% a preference thing. Ima PE guy now tho shot a Emek and was disappointed a $200 gat was better than my $900 one smh
I agree the amp is great shoots straight, lightweight, more affordable but PE is reliable. Can’t tell you how many times my amp has failed at the field. I made a promise to myself one more time, it’s going to be sold and I’m getting a 180r or Etha 3. At this point I feel like the improvements on markers don’t justify the massive price difference

Never shot a Adrenaline before. Have shot a upped Emek tho what makes a Dren worth $1300?

dont forget the additional feature, which allows direct communication to dolphins when you take a swim with your new sonar eyes... 😂😂

It's a copy, but it's pretty good. I have an AMP and a 180R. Soooo close in performance.
Does the Amp being on sale mean there's a new shocker coming out?
id think so. they've gotta release a real high end marker eventually to compete with other brands
I like the amp just cuz the ergonomics of it. PE guns are just to big for my hands
Some guys are just used to having something smaller in their hands 😂
