Nicely done G! Pretty darn good on the handle with Map gas and a vice too. Should last some years. Thanks for Sharing as always. Best to you and yours!
Doggo will figure that out kinda quick. You might need to put that higher up or a bar from the top on the leading edge that wedges the latch into the keep. Nice ideas, I need a double swing gate at my mums house. I had a girlfriend 20 years ago like the gate, good times.
So far so good- but if she does it once- it's game over. I have an idea for a trip lever lock near the handle. One you would have to lift before the handle can be pushed down. I hope I don't have to go to design, but we'll see. Sounds like quite the gal...lol. G.
I just found your channel. You have some really good videos. What is the name for the hinges you used? That's the first time I seen those style of hinges and I'd like to eventually try using them. Also how did those hinges hold up over time? Are they stainless steel?
Thanks Dean, glad you like the channel. One half of this hinge is called a "hinge strap". I don't know what the other side is called. As for how how they're holding up, these are still working like butter. And no, they're not stainless- but rather some sort of a plated steel. Good luck, G.
@ghostses that's neat way to install a gate. Thank you. I have never seen that. You solved locking the gate also with it opening and closing in both ways. They need to start building more doors like that for eas of function.
@@ghostses I'm going shopping for similar hinge parts and wondering how/where to find them. The box stores seem to be a miss locally. Also, was the metal for the latch any specific temper to ensure it maintained its spring rate?
Travis, do a search for "strap hinges" and you should find them. I got mine from Atwoods. Tractor Supply might have them as well. Not sure if either is in your area, but it might be a start. No, no temper on the the latch spring to maintain temper and it's been working great. Hope this helps, G.
That's a great job. We are going to be seeing a lot of copies of your ingenious latch on here and in gardens everywhere.
Thanks Brendan! I don't know if it's an original design but I couldn't find anything like it. I do hope it inspires someone somewhere though. G.
Nicely done G.
Thanks James! Good to hear from you, G.
Nice work on the gate and latch. This is a great tutorial G Nice craftsmanship!
Thanks! Take care, G.
I have been watching your video’s for several years, and wondering is there anything you can’t build, make or fix. Nice job.
Dev Ogle amen to that!
Thanks Dev! I run on getting educated, then do preparation, followed by pure determination...lol. G.
Thanks James, G.
Down home ingenuity so to speak. Great job and love the channel.
Thanks Ron! Glad you like the channel. Take care, G.
I really like the ingenious work and design you did on the latch and the hinges!
Thanks again Mac! It took some work but turned out quite well. Hope all is well with you and yours. G.

Thanks PJ! Yeah, I ate some gas to get it pulled off. Took a while, but I got it done. Had to work with what I had. Take care, G.
Very good!
Thanks! G.

Incredible job! Everything looks spectacular. How did you attach your pickets? Any glue???
Thanks James! I used my siding nailer to nail them on. No glue. Take care, G.
👍

@@DeanMeilken Yep, this was of my own design. Dual swing was my goal. It turned out well. Take care, G.

Thanks! G.
What are those hinges called?
You'd have to be more specific Travis. I'm not sure what you're referring to. G.
