    Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen to The Elder Scrolls Detective Series!
    In this video we investigate the rather 'under the radar' and suspicious character Sybille Stentor. A Breton who is the Court Wizard of The Blue Palace of Solitude, Skyrim's Capital. AT first a weird vibe will be picked up from Sybille, but once we dig deeper we will discover well hidden secrets. Is she good or evil? Is she the true ruler of Skryim?
    Be sure to leave any idea for future TES detective videos in the comments! They can be from any game in TES universe :)

      @Mad Max Rockatansky Yeah - nothing could be a bigger misstep than to assume deliberate agency from what's really normal human forgetfulness. Or even more likely, one hand not knowing what the other's up to, the person or people behind that dialogue not realizing what's been slated in terms of quests or dungeons in that area - or vice versa, the folks behind the local dungeons not realizing what else has been written previously - it's a one-off line so it'd be easy to overlook. Additionally, the world of the Elder Scrolls is reduced in terms of distance "in the area" could mean only the locality of the cave, not what's next to it in the region.

    From what I understand, the whole Wolf Queen quest has some unused dialogue in case you wipe out the cave before talking to Falk. In this dialogue, Sybille doesn't sound very pleased, suggesting that it actually released Potema.
    "Listen you impudent cur. According to my scrying something happened at Wolfskull Cave that returned Potema to this world."
    That actually sheds some light - perhaps she knew what was going on in the cave and was aware that the ritual would actually fail (which is suggested by Potemas protests when necromancers try to bind her to their will). This is why she would not want anyone to intervene, as the problem would basically sort itself out.
    Her distaste for other vampires is also logical - she FIT IN. Other vampires live like bandits, they are like plebs to her.
    The whole sleep thing - I'd say it is a simple bug in this case.
    Also - I don't think that Torygg was her thrall or was controlled in any real way - he is, after all in Sovngarde - I don't think a mere thrall of a vampire would be let in, especially if he was under vampiric influence presumably his whole life.

      In the book "Immortal Blood" talks about an order of vampires in Cyrodil. While the order is not named they do get referred to as "Vampyrum Order."
      The idea that Stbille Stentor as a member of that order is explored by another Skyrim RUclipsr (Nate). Nate brings up strong evidence that Sybil's actions do align with the tenets of the Order.

    • @gyyrad
      @gyyrad 2 года назад +4

      Realistically the Dragonborn can best be described as a Chaotic Good Vigilante.
      Also being a Vampire DOES automatically make you an evil being esp. in the Elder Scrolls Universe. All Vampires are under Molag. But to survive they need to, at minimum, commit battery. This is often easier when paired with Breaking and Entering.
      That being said most of the Aedra and Meridia have very specific things to say about the undead. Quite specific in fact. The aedra are considered the Good Gods Meridia is considered the "Good" Deadra Prince. So if they are in a position of good, those in opposition to them are Evil.
      Perspectives on Vampirism are sourced by ALL vampiric media really but most acutely to the White Wolf Media - The World of Darkness: Vampire the Masqurade.

    watching this reminded me of how much I love Sybille. I never personally felt like she was evil as she always treats the dragonborn with relative politeness (considering most court wizards in Skyrim don't possess incredible social skills.) I see her as someone who enjoys the perks of vampirism but doesn't want to give up civilized life so she hides it, using the prisoners as cheap cattle.
    One thing I would like to point out that I haven't seen mentioned: The journal of the vampire who discovers the redwater spring, Vulpin, mentions meeting a female vampire in the winking skeever. She tells Vulpin that she has a considerable reputation in Solitude and agrees to help him so long as he remains civil. Sounds like Stentor to me. Not really relevant to the potema discussion but interesting nonetheless.

      If we're going by D&D standards, she seems very Lawful Neutral. She does seem to be doing plenty of good being the court wizard while also doing some rather...possibly unscrupulous things. She seems to just be selfish but also seems to apparently care about keeping Solitude safe, and cared about the High King greatly (though whether it was genuine or not is unclear). All in all this makes her fairly ambiguous and as such lands her pretty much in the middle alignment, with arguments easily made for both her just being an eccentric, scary bitch that actually cares for Solitude or a selfish, cunning vampire that is serving her own goals.

  • @ethanelliot4559
    @ethanelliot4559 5 лет назад +543

    From my research, she is likely to be Quintilla, mother of the wolf queen. Quintilla was still in her prime when she was 80 years old x.x no historian can ascertain her death other than it happening in the year 3E 99. She was also a great sorceress who had amazing powers to see into the future (scrying). Curiously enough, she was also a breton and had a soul gem placed into either a ring or necklace, depending on which of the wolf queen's books you read, with the illusion spell "charm" enchanted on it. Notice that your reward for the quest is not only an illusion buff, but also a silver ruby necklace.
    Throughout Potema's life, she has, on multiple accounts, stated that she has no skill in magic. However, she somehow manages to summon a huge army of undead, cementing her as one of the greatest necromancers in history?
    My hypothesis is that Quintilla, being a great mage and seer, was eventually able to turn herself into a vampire and, after being found out, had to fake her death. Afterwards, she hid in the background of history while secretly helping her favored daughter, Potema. As the united front of all her brothers brought everyone from hammerfall to the imperium to eventually beat back Potema's relentless assault, she then began to resurrect the dead soldiers to do her bidding, rather than Potema. After Potema's death, her soul cursed the blue palace, refusing to rest until the dragonborn eventually completed the task. As for Quintilla, she had probably been spending centuries trying to find a way to put her daughter to rest. Becoming Court Wizard was simply a way to speed up her research, noted on how she forced the council of solitude to spend an enumerous amounts of money towards her experiments while receiving her scrying as an award. The summoning ritual was a good chance to bring potema into an ethereal form to then finally be laid to rest, making it undesirable for anyone to interrupt it. When Potema was finally put to rest, the reason for her living for so long had finally been completed and Quintilla, now cursed with immortality, could finally rest.

      see into the future? Wouldn't that mean that her scrying that area would have revealed the dragonborn's actions? If she knew what the dragonborn was going to do, I don't remember her personally doing anything to stop the dragonborn... the first *and* second time.
      If she was protecting potema, she half-assed the job. She should have made sure no one sent anyone to that cave. Once the DB meddled the first time, that should have run alarm bells for her, and she would have perhaps tried to confront the DB directly. What I always thought was that Sybille's Vampirism was a closely guarded court secret; she was allowed to stay because she proved so useful. She may have an ulterior motive, but then why only feed on captives due for death and use her magic to add to the city's defense. I think Solitude comes first for her, regardless of who is on the throne.

      Feeding on prisoners, could help her to try to avoid suspicion. If she started killing/feeding on the people in the town, they might start to look for the murderer, and possibly look for a vampire, if the corpses were found drained of blood (like some people were found, after the other vampires nearby got them. Once you've grabbed those artifacts and eliminated the dawnguard all that's really left is kill vampires.

    I believe she sends us to take care of some other vampires hidden in the dark because she truly despises their way of living her "condition". Like she said : « Filthy creatures, aren’t they ? Living in the darkness, like they do. So uncivilized. I prefer finery. »
    Vampires who have been infiltrated Cyrodiil’s high society have a similar way of dealing with their kind. They watch for them, and control their numbers so they can remain undetected themselves. Like other kinds, vampires both share characteristics and vary much from one another.
    Although she’s used her eloquence and magic to get herself to a powerful position, as far as Sybille’s influence goes, I don’t believe she is close to be the hidden ruler of Skyrim, no. Her love for Torygg as a boy then king seems truly sincere. But that doesn’t mean she didn’t influence him for her own purpose either.
    The most interesting thing to me is her resting after Potema's ultimate defeat. This suggests indeed a powerful connection between the two, because it is such an unusual rest. Sleeping is usually not a peaceful rest for vampires. They all seem to experience awful nightmares that appear to be caused by nonother than the Daedra Vaermina. So, they don’t like to sleep. The fact that Sybille tries to convince the court to stay away from Potema’s cave and that she remains in such a deep sleep after her defeat makes me think it is more than an emotionnal link she shared with the Wolf Queen. I can very much picture Sybille being part of the Kingdom of Death Potema ruled for over ten years, centuries ago, and trying to bring her back. Her link to the queen remains enigmatic. I would suggest it is possible that through some necromantic magic Sybille owns a part of Potema's soul.

    • @nemororin3596
      @nemororin3596 6 лет назад +5

      Personally I think its a tad more complicated than that. I've always found all of that odd, but saw it from a different view after playing through the Dawn Guard DLC. I think the wolf queen became a master vampire while she was alive, in order to cheat death of course. She did murder countless people when she was living. I think the vampires underneath Solitude and Sybille are/were vampires created by The Wolf queen. Hence the unseen connection.

After every tale the hunter journied and hunted the said vampire types, allways returning triumphant. However after the wiseman told him of the Cyrodil high vampires, how they blend so well in the society and never to be seen or felt, the vampire hunter returned with empty hands only to discover that the wiseman was one from the very begining. Potema was of royal blood, born and raised in Cyrodil. If she had any vampiric connections, it will be them. So Sibil is most likely a cyrodilic vampire, all evidences, no matter how little and vague, points to them.

    I assumed that the necromancer ritual had a jamming effect on scry magic, i mean it would make sense that if you are trying trying to resurrect the best necromancer behind mannimarco that you would do something to keep scrying and prying eyes blind.
    Also the eternal sleep is a glitch that was partially fixed, in early versions of skyrim she slept all day except for court scenes due to incorrect values on her schedule, this was fixed in a patch but they missed the post potema cycle which reverted the values to their incorrect state when the quest was finished as all court members are reverted to standard schedules after that quest line. So basically its not that she is connected to potema, but that she has radiant ai issues.

    Or. She's good. She was around during Potema's rule, as a young mage, and set about combating Potema's vampiric minions after her death. After a few years of keeping them at bay, Sybille realized that she too would pass, and the vampires would be free to set in motion Potema's resurrection- so she intentionally contracted vampirism, to ensure she could finish the fight. But despite Sybille's best efforts, in magic, in the grooming of multiple kings, sending unwitting hit men to eradicate vampire dens, Potema's followers managed to pull everything together needed to bring her back. As a last ditch, she seizes the opportunity to send the Dragonborn after Potema. And when Potema and her ilk have all perished, Sybille finally sleeps.

      Since the chef serves food at the palace, and Sybille is a part of the court (serving as a court wizard), she would be entitled to food (i.e. hot/cooked food), as part of her compensation, I think (which could be why the chef made note of not seeing her eat). It is possible that he has either never served her in the throne room, or if they all go to a dining area to eat (at least realistically. I don't know if Bethseda gave them an eating routine, or a realistic 1, that you would see nobles/royalty doing, where they could sit down at a table, like the ones in Whiterun's palace/place, and eat with silver dishes, and talk with others. Perhaps the Jarl in Solitude eats only bread with her hands. That would be funny and sad; if she did that everyday for instance), it is possible that she doesn't go there. The bread could have been attained via other means (i.e. bought at a shop, or taken off of a dish laying nearby), and perhaps she was eating it to look human. Can't the player character eat bread, if they are a vampire? Good job, seeing that she ate bread.

    Here's a little something that breaks the Potema theory. The sleeping thing is a bug and once you have the unofficial patch, it fixes it. In the creation kit, there was a schedule that she was supposed to follow, but never transferred correctly into the game and instead the sleep schedule bug was put in instead. And she is actually terrified of potema. Here is some cut dialogue found in the game files that occurs before Falk sends you the letter telling about potema and her return: Sybille- What did you do in Wolfskull cave?!" You could then reply by choosing one of the three options:
    You- Who are you?
    Sybille- "I'm Sybille Stentor, court mage of Solitude, and according to my scrying you've managed to unleash Potema herself!"
    You- I stopped some Necromancers from summoning Potema.
    Sybille- "You weren't nearly as successful as you think, fool. According to my scrying the Wolf Queen has returned."
    You- I'm here to speak to Falk.
    Sybille- "Listen you impudent cur. According to my scrying something happened at Wolfskull Cave that returned Potema to this world."

    There is deleted dialogue following The Wolf Queen Awakened where Sybille basically berates you for freeing the Wolf Queen, which she saw through her scrying. So my guess is that she didn't see anything initially because it was a bunch of necromancers who were just raising draugr but masking their actions. It's only when they tried to raise the Wolf Queen did it suddenly come under her radar, so to speak.

      Kid with cancer, removing content doesn't mean your theory about her being a servant or potema herself is true. Sounds like the devs just had more planned for Sybille but cut it at the last minute, resulting in a bug with her AI behaviour that makes her sleep a lot. The cut dialogue shows that, it makes no sense for them to remove one line where she just reacts to something. Unless there are unfinished dialogue plans that go along with it that they decided to scrap. Shame though, it is kind of unrealistic for the court mage of solitude to not sense the wolf queens power when she was released. Even if they wanted to scrap any other plans they could have just left her line in there just as flavor text.

    She tends to like civiled vampires I noticed. A journal in Red Water Den talks of this vampire looking for the spring underneath the Den. He mentions going to Solitude and meeting someone of his kind that holds a position in the court and that as long as he acts civil, everything is cool. And then she points him of the direction of the spring.

    I have no way to prove it, but I like to imagine it this way:
    Sybille is Potema. Beore she died, she used all her remaining powers she created some sort of double, to keep living, keep a control over Solitude and come back one day. Notice the ghost of Potema, we can't tell her face, but we can with other ghosts...
    So, maybe that's why she goes to sleep after being defeated, she lost the biggest part of herself and gave up because although Sybille might be powerful, she won't ever be like she was when she was Potema.
    Again, no wat to prove it, but I find it cool this way.

    Here is how I see it;
    She was a patriot dedicated to the good of Solitude and by extension Skyrim. She raised the previous king to be a good king, or at least a king good for Solitude. She took a job where she could watch over him and the comings and goings of the court to ensure the safety of Solitude from threat of mismanagement and only screwed up in that she was out when the killing happened. She has no loyalty to the current incumbent on the throne but to the throne itself. Kings and queens ultimately come and go but so long as national stability is kept this is ultimately not a problem.
    She does not feel kinship with other vampires. They are a threat to the security and correct orderly running of the nation and have to be removed. Sending guards into the cave would have been a waste of resources during a time of war as they would have been slaughtered. Stentor could not see a practical way of keeping The Wolf Queen off the throne but that would not have been an insurmountable problem, she could be directed and steered in useful directions. Stability would be maintained and if she didn't oppose it she could keep her job and mitigate any problems.
    The job had recently become exhausting (vampires, dragons, undead queens and maybe the emotional exhaustion of someone she raised as a son being torn apart by a traitor whilst she was not there), her job conflicting with her nocturnal sleeping patterns, irregular meals; the experimental things were her trying to find a restorative potion for vampires to keep going. With the removal of the Wolf Queen and the other vampires and other imminent threats to national security (that she can possibly do anything about) she realizes that this is the only opportunity she might get to recuperate and just crashes out.
    She is her own faction because nobody is in her faction. She was doing this well before any of the others.

    I think the wolf queen made her a vampire back during her rule. Her not liking other vampires might suggest she did not appreciate becoming a vampire and might actually be pulling strings behind the scenes for the past 500 years to keep the wolf queen at bay.
    She cant be honest about it because people would kill her so this is her way of doing something good with what shes been cursed with. The hostility could just be from the plain ignorance of people that even though shes been doing this for so long no ones noticed the impact she has made (or may have) or she is frustrated with how clueless people are about the dangers shes preventing.
    As for her going to sleep i think that relates to the wolf queen creating her. The reason she didnt want anyone going to the cave is because either her work will be undone and war will outbreak OR shes afraid if the mortals win she will still fall into a sleep since her life power stems from the corpse under solitude.
    Just a thought

    • @millgiass

      That could be. We have to keep in mind that those necromancers were trying to bind the wolf queen's soul. Those vampires... may very well be prisoners. Thralls of Sybille turned by her to use as guards. I'm going to put my bet on her being good and fighting against the evil nature of a vampire. She obviously forgoes feeding to the point where she becomes very irritable from lack of blood and she doesn't seem to prey on the innocent. Instead prisoners.

    Along the theories of Sybille being alive alongside Potema, wouldn’t that mean she new Pelagius Septim III, Potema’s nephew, and wouldn’t that make the quest The Mind Of Madness potentially relevant?

  • @GavinHohenheim
    @GavinHohenheim 7 лет назад +27

    Alignment:
    lawful neutral, with a heavy leaning on lawful and a slight curve towards evil.
    Hypothesis:
    Sybille Stentor might have been a rather smart but altogether unnoticeable mage, trained in the thick veils of High Rock politicks (Yes, -icks), that ended up in the blue palace one way or another (political refugee, human bargaining chip, family machinations... choose your pick) and naturally came in contact with Potema. The wolf queen swiftly saw Sybille for what she was - a tool, waiting to be shaped and used as she sees fit. She transformed and bound Sybille, making her stronger than she ever could have been on her own, but utterly dependent on the latent power radiating from the immensely powerful necromant. While Sybilles combat prowess was bolstered through Potema, she proved most useful behind closed doors at court - which is why she was never suspected of having a strong affiliation with the queen and subsequently survived her downfall.

    • @GavinHohenheim
      @GavinHohenheim 7 лет назад +5

      Now, while Sybille was a tool in Potemas hands, I doubt she was a willing one. As competent mage that probably picked up a trick or two over the years, she was able to contain and seal Potema below Solitude, retaining her own immortality as she was still dependent on her power. All her actions henceforth are acts of self-preservation. She turned a small number of people to be guards of the wolf queens seal and forbid them from leaving the catacombs, feeding them on a steady diet of lawbreakers as soon as she was in the position to do so (remember, she's lawful and wouldn't want to sacrifice the innocent if she doesn't have to). With her acumen in cloak-and-dagger politicks, she maintained her power at court to keep this all secret, using whatever tools are necessary.

    • @GavinHohenheim
      @GavinHohenheim 7 лет назад +5

      All her actions can be explained by that dynamic. She wants the vampires to be gone because they draw attention to the symptoms of vampirism and may expose her in the process. She has obvious control over the court, but doesn't act with an own agenda except for maintaining her current level of influence. Potema doesn't want her to see the necromancers trying to resurrect her, and since Sybille draws her power from her, she was unable to scry the danger. After her botched resurrection, Potema is able to gain control over the vampires Sybille created, but she is too weak to repossess her former tool (yet). Or she is forced under Potemas control again, which is why she can't call for help against the danger lurking beneath Solitude.

    • @GavinHohenheim
      @GavinHohenheim 7 лет назад +7

      Conclusion:
      Sybille is desperately trying to maintain control and to keep being "alive", as she is mortified (heh) beyond belief at the prospect of death. Does she even have a soul left, a afterlife to speak of? Is she bound to serve Potema as slave in whatever beyond awaits her? Or worse, is she bound for Coldharbour, the realm of Molag Bal? I would do everything necessary to stay alive as well if I were in her position...

    • @vulpesinculta3238
      @vulpesinculta3238 7 лет назад +4

      Interesting hypothesis. But I am bound to wonder, why does she enter a nearly permanent sleep instead of dying outright? Is she still able to live, but with her power and energy diminished to a bare minimum?
      Another thing I noticed is Falk's behaviour. I think he knows.
      When the court is petitioned but Sybille tries to discourage Elisif from sending men to sweep the cave (by saying that there's nothing going on there), instead of going with Stentor's plan to refuse to act, Falk quickly spins it around and makes sure an independent adventurer who anwers only to him picks up the work.
      Then, when you return to the Blue Palace after interrupting the ritual, Falk is actually downstairs for the only time in the game, waiting for you by the stairs and telling you not to talk about what happened. He must have a good reason for not being by Elisif's side while court is in session, and I think that reason is Sybille Stentor. He doesn't want her in on the finer details of what is happening perhaps because he has an inkling of what's really going on.

    • @GavinHohenheim
      @GavinHohenheim 7 лет назад +4

      Yes, Falk at least suspects something to be... off. I noticed that as well - although I think even as steward he is not in a position to severely threaten Sybilles position. Plus, as steward I suspect he may be one of the very few courtsmen that know of people having a way of "getting lost", "relocate" or "pursuing other endeavors" when Sybille gets unpleasant.
      Regarding the everlasting sleep... That is about what I suspect. Sybille is still a capable mage, an expert and achieved teacher of destruction magic. Without the immense power of potema to keep her stable, her own capabilities are reduced, but sufficient to sustain herself... somewhat.

    Theory: In order to be certain that the Wolf Queen was defeated, Sybille had herself cursed. The curse was a form of life link. So long as the Wolf Queen was able to come back, Sybille would live. Once the Wolf Queen was defeated for good, she would fall into eternal slumber and/or die. This way, should the Wolf Queen return, she would be around to help out in some capacity.

    Its also 100% positive they all knew deep down she was a vampire, but overlooked it as she was to great a boon to the defense to the capital for them to justify removal of her.

    Reverse hypothesis: Sybille made sure that Potema STAYED dead.
    Potema had an entire army of vampires, undead, and necromancers fighting under her in a war for power that lasted over 30 years... there's got to have been enough talent in there to resurrect her, should she die, and it would have been easy for her to set up such arrangements - promise of great reward, bla bla bla. Now, there are 2 possibilities here: 1) Sybille was the court wizard, and entrusted with Potemas resurrection. But she wanted this psychopath to stay dead, so she purposefully bound Potema to herself so that she could not be revived by Potemas more loyal followers, then turned into a vampire so she wouldn't quickly die and lose control over the Wolf Queen. Or, 2) she was an enemy solider/adventurer who interfered with Potema's revival and was hurt by it, causing her undeath and somehow linked her to Potema on a soul level.
    When the quest begins, Sybille interferes with the investigation because she knows she risk being exposed, and that she herself would die were Potema to be completely destroyed. Perhaps she intended to intervene on her own accord. But she doesn't stop you from going into the catacombs, either... pretty odd for such a powerful character with a high stakes involved.
    So when Potema is killed, Sybille accepts her fate and goes to sleep, perhaps forever, as the price to pay for peace in Solitude.

  • @cozarooni1834
    @cozarooni1834 7 лет назад +204

    I have a feeling that Stentor in a way is Potema. Potema used her as a puppet, somehow stole her body and got close to the court of Solitude. She knew that the body would not last long so this is why she chose to become a vampire? By doing this she met a cult of vampires and necromancers which tried to resurrect her true body, once you kill her spirit she can no longer posses Stentor, which results in her resting eternally.
    Just my own far fetched reasoning.

      Another possibility is that she bound Potema to herself. Became a vampire so she could keep Potema at bay. The Ritual was to spread that binding amongst multiple necromancers and to ease the drain on Stentor. The reason she seems to sleep forever is because you actually helped relieve her of her duty which she has been actively doing for centuries. This would mean she's not evil and would give reason as to why the court "puts up" with her.

    It's a boon and bane for Bethesda's design strategy: we get weird, genuinely cool as heck details like this woven into the game and yet they're not nearly as fleshed out as they could be.

    i live how the queen starts with a full legion with if you count the auxiliary then that would be around 10 000 soldiers in Roman terms at least and in the end she decides on a few extra guards.

      "Haafingar's people will always be safe under my rule" 10,000 soldiers it is. Oh, what's that Falk, three is more reasonable? Eh, I guess the safety of Haafingar's people isn't all that important anyway.

      Yeah, Elisif is known to overreact just a bit. She's not an experienced Jarl and wasn't trained to lead; she got the position by chance when Ulfric killed her husband. Still, her heart's in the right place, and she has the sense to listen to her advisors on matters she's not well experienced with.

      I do feel bad for Toryyg. He was young and cute and brave. Unfortunate but his death was necessary. Ulfric had to start his rebellion. They are pathetic for trying to catch him.
      Then killing Roggvir for letting him out, even though he committed no crime.

    Two points you could've emphasised further are the prisoners and how she has seen jarls with plural come and go. The first, she clearly takes and possibly uses them for the ritual of summoning Potema. As it is stated that the blood will bind Potema once summoned. The second Potema, during her reign, summoned a plethora of undead, daedra, and you guessed it vampires. Sybille had seen multiple jarls come and go, indicating that she would've been around before High king Torygg. Possibly during the reign of Potema herself. Though a question wht wait so long if her plan was to summon Potema? Did the process require 500+ years or was she simply biding her time?
    A side note when you fight Potema for the second time that defintely isn't her full power. As she raised legions of the undead enough to go to war with, enough to turn Solitude into the "land of the dead". During that fight she merely raised a handful of Dragur, a task the dragonborn can preform with the ritual stone. Had Potema been at her full strength i think deeming her mission as a side quest would be a waste.

    After you complete The Wolf Queen Awakens, Sybille will be found sleeping in her bed at all times.This issue has been addressed by version 1.2 of the Unofficial Skyrim Patch; she will now only sleep at the intended times. Considerable dialogue was written for Sybille to say during the beginning of The Wolf Queen Awakened. However, it cannot be heard in-game as the required quest stages to hear this dialogue are impossible to achieve. She would have revealed to you that Potema was resurrected if you talked to her before you talked to Falk. However, this dialogue may have been intentionally cut from the game as you could learn about Potema's return days before you could receive Falk's letter informing you to return to Solitude.
    When you approached her, she would have asked: "What did you do in Wolfskull cave?!" You could then reply by choosing one of the three options:
    Who are you?
    "I'm Sybille Stentor, court mage of Solitude, and according to my scrying you've managed to unleash Potema herself!"
    I stopped some Necromancers from summoning Potema.
    "You weren't nearly as successful as you think, fool. According to my scrying the Wolf Queen has returned."
    I'm here to speak to Falk.
    "Listen you impudent cur. According to my scrying something happened at Wolfskull Cave that returned Potema to this world."

    Sybille was going to replace the Jarl with the wolf Queen after she was summoned again, that's why they wanted to bound her by blood to give her a physical form instead of the ghost one.

    She might be a neutral agent looking out solely for the interests of the Empire. A human Empire.
    Follow me on this.
    What if she was attempting to bind the power Potema had in order to use it to create a grand army of the undead in an effort to stage a coup against the Dominion? A sovereign state that's taken over the Empire she's helped run for nearly five hundred years. It would make sense that to raise a cabal of necromancers in order to be powerful enough to bind Potema into a usable object that Sybille could use.
    She wouldn't use vampires as they tend to be evil down to a tee - the rare exception being what's her name from the Dawnguard DLC. She has no real power over the first born courts of vampires or over the ones that gather in the dark places of the earth, on top of the hatred the people of Nirn have for Vamps. So that idea would be right out.
    However, an army of the undead, their animated bodies used as cannon fodder beside the Stormcloaks - who would trip over themselves at a chance to kill off high elves by the drove - would gladly side with Sybille if she could back up her talk of raising legions of undead soldiers to stage said coup.
    Sybille isn't really good or evil. She's just angry that the elves are fucking with her dollhouse.

      Bring Potema back and bind Potema to Sybille's will, raise all the undead using power of the ritual stone overloaded with Potema's necromantic energy, undead will be raised from every cemetery in Skyrim, every dragon will come back to life, even if you took their soul, and Stormcloak/Imperial badasses will ride the dragons into the Summerset Isles. Miraak will come back and finally get to slap some shit, etc.

      I can totally see this. And "neutral" is kind of how I saw Sybille, especially since her affection for Torygg seems genuine. But I never once heard her comment about Elisif, the one where she says someone will replace her in a few months. That was new to me, and quite disturbing. But everything laid out in the video, and the spin you put on it is convincing. She just is doing what she can to preserve the Empire, even if that means binding Potema to her own will and raising an undead army and taking the fight to the Thalmor by herself.
