  • Welcome to my studio! In this pottery studio tour, I will show you all around my pottery studio. I will show you what's on the shelves, in the drawers, our systems, and how we keep things tidy. Our studio is set up for the community, so it will look a little different than a personal pottery studio, but it's just a slightly larger scale so we can offer a nice workspace for our members and classes. Enjoy!

    Thank you. Id love to hear from you about the tricky things you learned over time. For example, having a 1-month bisque-ware policy... things you wish you knew before you opened a community clay studio.

    Thanks for the tour!! I wish I was local to be able to be a member. It’s such a lovely workspace and I can see how much work you’ve put into it. Did I see on Instagram that said you were moving to the countryside? Are you moving the studio?

      Thanks! Yes I'm moving my studio, but someone will take over the space too. So it will duplicate in a way ;)

      It's from Comodes, but I really don't recommend them. The filter is fine, but they have awful customer service. Any air filter that has a HEPA filter will work. :)

    I know this video is a bit older, but is the garden hose so close to the kiln not a fire hazard as the plastic could melt potentially?

    Hey! Tausend dank für das Video - finds total spannend zu sehen wie das Studio aufgebaut ist :). Hast du dir das Töpfern selbst beigebracht oder hast du eine Ausbildung zur Keramikerin gemacht? Viele Grüße!

      Ich danke dir! Ich bin größtenteils Autodidaktin, aber ich habe in einem anderen Studio Unterricht genommen, als ich gerade anfing. Ich habe nie eine Ausbildung gemacht, aber ich wünschte, ich hätte es getan!

    I see you obviously have a studio pet. What are your thoughts on having animals live in the studio in terms of them being exposed to silica? I wanna set up a home studio but don't want to harm my cat yaknow

    • @PotterytothePeople
      @PotterytothePeople  Год назад

      Yeah it’s a good question. I am 100% not an expert in animal health, but as I understand it, silicosis takes 30+ years to develop and our pets dont live that long 🥲

    • @charlottesmom
      @charlottesmom Год назад +1

      This is very much food for thought, I have 2 cats and a dog. If (a big IF) I ever set up a studio I'll do it in the cellar where the pets are not allowed and will make sure to wash everything down daily. I'm also thinking "studio shoes" are a good idea, just keep them and wear them down stairs while in the studio so as to no drag any dust upstairs. Luckily we have windows down there so ventilation will not be an issue at least for 3 seasons. 😉

    16:01 I will reach out to you through your Instagram site. We’re trying to have a community art center. That will include a ceramic center and I’m very impressed with what you’ve done could you give us some specifics as far as size in the cost of various things as much as you can thank you so much
