And just in case you're wondering if David Pack is a sweet as his voice, the answer is a resounding Yes. I've had the honor of photographing David on numerous occasions and he is as warm and gentle a man as his music is timeless. Love you David - keep rockin!
This is pure greatness. David Pack always had the most wonderful voice. I cannot believe at his age he can still hit those same notes. I live down the street from this place and never knew they played there.
My best friend, Chris Rieser & I have each spent over 40 years as professional musicians. We sometimes talk about how much we miss the music of this era. He's still playing part-time, but I had to quit in 2010. I just couldn't stomach playing "Keep Your Hands to Yourself", and all the other trash you have to play to get a gig anymore. If that's your favorite song, & I've insulted your musical taste, I apologize. I just felt like a chef would have felt, if after studying at the Culinary Institute of America, & spending decades honing his craft, he could only get a job flipping burgers at Zip's. So until tasteful music like this becomes popular again, I'll just sit with my acoustic guitar, playing Ambrosia, Glen Miller, Beatles, Henry Mancini, Burt Bacharach/Hal David, and other MUSICAL music, for Chris & a few other close friends.

Unless you had a drum machine and a box full of special effects, you could not get a job anywhere, no one would pay for a four-piece or a five-piece band! Our really good drummer, was replaced by a facking machine and no thanks!! And then there was the rather quick degradation of the music, yechhh!!! Memories, memories is all I have and one recording I made...never released!!!

I have known David Pack since the 60's, when we were Torrance kids; and . . . yes, he's as genuinely kind as he appears. His talents, his humor and his loving heart hasn't changed one bit. If anybody deserves the accolades bestowed upon him, it is certainly David Pack.
David Pack guest hosted on Sirius radio last year. He said that July 4th 1979 his family was getting ready to go to a July 4th celebration and while his wife was getting the kids ready to go, he went into his little home studio to shut everything down. When he came to his Rhodes piano he just went to hit the keys to see if it was on, and those beginning chords just came out of his fingers. He wrote the whole song off of that progression. That stuff never happens to me! I guess that the difference between genius and idiot.
Oh man----David Pack is THE MAN! He may have lost the 80's jew fro and effortless high notes, but he can still sing volumes! And what about this band. The legendary Larry Carlton, who is behind some of the most famous guitar solos in pop music, Simon Phillips having replaced the late, great Jeff Porcaro.....sigh, you can't get better than this. David pack will always be Ambrosia. There is no one to replace him not for these songs. I have respect for the group but I would never go see them without David. And I know as we get older we can't do what we've always done. So people enjoy the songs and the times that we have together. David I wish you all the well and hope you keep playing till the day you decide to quit.

Yes David Pack along with Michael McDonald, Darryl Hall are both my age are were brought up on Soul records from the 60's.so Blue Eyed Soul was natural for them .. Ambrosia were great in their time.. I know they still play but Pack was the leader in those mid 70's to 80's
Besides admiring his great voice and musical talent I also admire the fact that David Pack has not gone for all that cosmetic surgery that most entertainers have.He is still a classically handsome man today just as he was in the 70's.
