What are your hot takes for 2024? 🚴
Wout Van Aert will get 2nd place more than first place
I think Cian Uijtdebroeks will win the Vuelta24 "Sepp Kuss-style". He is young and I think he will add to his level this season. Visma LAB is currently a team that gets a bit extra out of riders that joins, if thats the case too with CU I think he will surprise many in the Vuelta.
I dont think he is in talks of being on the belgian WC-team or olympics team, so the Vuelta will likely have his main focus as a domestique for Vingegaard if he participates, or Sepp Kuss. If CU is played out early in a break on a mountainous stage, i think he will gain a lot of time and hang on for the GC-win!.
Wherever MvdP rides WVA will be second
@@unknown23hornet22 how is that a hot take 😝
@@Steve-Riverwood Cian is riding the Giro and definitely not yet 2 GT's in one season.
Cavendish was also 36, when he won 4 TdF stages in 2021.
With 70km of ITT in this years Giro, there is no way Nairo is finishing in the top 3 lol
Based
Take my upvote lol
Come on man! Picking Kopecky and SD Works is the OPPOSITE of a Hot Take.
If we talk about consistency, you could mention Mads P also. I´m sure he will win one of the big races this year.I hope it will be Paris-Roubaix .After bad luck 2021 and 2022 he finished fourth last year. This year he will lift the cobblestone trophy 😁
Ganna will win a monument.
On PlayStation
Which Monument do you think he will win?🇮🇹
@@gcnracing I consider Roubaix as most likely. But also Vlaanderen, San Remo or the 6th monument Strade might be possible
30 seconds in the microwave hot
SanRemo.
I have a request, I would like you to think about please.
I really miss GCN+ but I have Sky so I can watch the racing on Eurosport - although it is not quite the same (ads, ads, ads) !
What I REALLY miss is knowing what is on and when - could you, as part of GCN Racing Show let us know what is on each week, just like you did for GCN+? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate this small thing. Thanking you in advance
PS love all the shows!!
If Vingegard has issues for Tour and Vuelta, it is very likely that Visma will not win a GT. If he does not, they will.
Arnaud de Lie will not be with MVDP and Pogacar over the Poggio, at least not yet.
I’m so looking forward to the Road racing season to begin 🎉.
So are we!🤩 Which race are you most looking forward to?
That’s a hard one!! … I love the Italian 🇮🇹 one day races, so I’m going for the Strada Bianchi , in relation to Grand Tours it has to be the Giro , the first Grand tour of the season all the teams want to see how they shape up for a 3 week test and whoever wins it will take the pressure of the entire team for the season . Culturally and visually I find it “Pure” , the Italian roadside are great as well as the others and it doesn’t have all the Pageantry of the Tour De France 🇫🇷, I’m happy with that .😊
Not yet!!! In due time. We’re in the middle of Cyclocross season!!!
The only way visma not winning a Gt is if jonas crashes
true
dan is on to something: no wout, primoz or nathan in the tdf. massive holes to fill (plus primoz now an opponent, plus uae, and soudal). giro they have no one top-tier for gc that can beat uae. vuelta, that's the only one they may have a shot.
Totally agree. Aside from illness/injury/crash the only reason Jonas won't keep winning the Tour for the next five years is if he doesn't want to start the tour.
@@cmarnold78 everyone said the same thing about Bernal in 2019, and definitely said the same about Pogi after 2020. Jonas will crack; maybe not next year, but at some point in the next few years, his opponents will find a weakness and demolish him. It happens to every rider except Armstrong, and we know why that was the case.
@@danielhall1473 True, my thinking is Jonas seems like a totally pure GC rider. Could have/should have won the Vuelta. Pogi and others capable in other disciplines (classics etc) but Jonas has pure GC focus (although he did smash the TT in the TDF).
WVA wins Roubaix and Flanders, Remco goes 3 for 3 at Liege, Pogi wins Giro and worlds with 2nd at the Tour, Rogla narrowly wins Tour and then goes to win a 4th Vuelta, crashes at worlds, but recovers in time to finally win Lombardia, Jonas finally cracks at the Tour and finishes 4th, MVDP wins Olympic road race but no monuments, someone upsets the SD Worx stranglehold on the women's side, probably Trek but maybe EF.
1: Vingegaard does the double win Tour Vuelta. 2: WVA wins the points classification at the Giro but not any monument, Olympics or WC. 3: Pogacar defeats Vingegaard in GC only at the Tirreno Adriatico (edit: Pogacar doesn't do Tirreno, so Pogacar doesn't defeat Vingegaard in any GC this year). 4: Ganna will have a major win that is not TT or track. 5: Evenepoel Olympic champion ITT. 6: VDP finally wins XCO Olympics. 7: Pidcock wins a spring classic. 8: Roglic will win only one 1-week tour.
Roglic will win 3 TdF stages but finish 3rd or 4th overall🥳
Agree with all of them, but I don't see the 3rd one as a hot take: They will likely only compete in GC at Tirreno-Adriatico (not sure if Vingegaard starts there) and the tdf. Tadej will ride the Giro so Vingegaard has good chances to win the tdf again. So I don't see this as a hot take because it will likely happen
none of those are hot takes
@@libbens Maybe n 1 is not a hot take. But I challenge you to turn each of them into hot takes, meaning something provocative but still can happen.
Who is your pick for the Olympic road race? Could Evenepoel take a double Olympic victory?
1. Van Aert will win Paris-Roubaix and 2 medals at the Olympic Games 2. Pogacar will win the giro and the Tour 3. Vingegaard will win the vuelta
From your lips to gods ears!!
Let's hope Jonas develops a better tactic than holding back to see where his rival is and then ride in behind him until the time is right to make a move via team radio.
@@heliumtrophy Let's hope Pogacar knows TDF is a 3 weeks race and lets see what this year excuse is. Bad tactic, broken bone...and oh yes, he did the Giro
Very interesting thoughts! Do you think Van Aert will take both gold medals at the Olympics?
2 silver medals I assume?
With Pogacar racing the Giro, it seems hard to bet against Vingegaard/Jumbo-Visma winning the Tour. Who else can realistically challenge them? Pogacar is brilliant but I don't see him winning the Tour after racing the Giro.
Could Remco and his style of racing challenge Vingegaard or will he struggle?
I don't even see Pogacar winning the tdf even if he planned for that only, and to be honest, i think he knows that, and that's why he is not planning on the tdf as only main goal.
@@gcnracing Chances are low, but it isn't entirely impossible. He'll be another year older and have better prep than last years Vuelta (more like his first Vuelta) and he'll have a stronger team in support than he ever had + other top contenders meaning he and his team can remain in the shadows somewhat more than in the other GT's where he often was the main opponent of Visma in the early part.
Happy New Year to all of you at GCN!
You're dead on with Cavendish. I think this is the year WVA gets the big cobblestone. (although I'll take RVV or PR). Pog gets the Tour.
Unpopular opinion: Quintana one seems more likely not to happen even than Cavendish winning at the Tour :))
I agree with most of them, but I think Visma-whoever will likely win at least one grand tour. Even without Roglich and with the “moneyball” team he will have at Borah, the odds are still stacked in Visma’s favor.
.
Regarding monument wins, Wout is physically capable, but his strength there will always be a little bit blunted as long as Visma keeps training him for and sending him to all the grand tours. He also has two big problems at the monuments that are known as Pogatchar and VanDerPoel.
.
You’re way off on San Remo. If anyone is going to win in the fashion that you described, it will be either Philippo Ganna, or Mads Pederson.
If Vingegaard isn't great for one reason or another at the Tour and Vuelta (or has something happen during them), suddenly chances for Visma to win any GT are almost not existing, so that one is possible. They have essentially one real GT GC leader now.
The Quintana one is tosh . You are gorgeous Dan. Peace ✌🏻
I’ll go for the layup, MVDP repeats champion in cyclocross. 😂
He will probably win, but I think he may have peaked too early. He is on super crazy form now and there is a long way to go.
I most disagree with Quintana. There are 3 time trials in the Giro.
I think Vollering is favourite over Kopecky in LBL, but could happen for sure. I think de Lie in MSr is a bit early for him, but will happen one or multiple times in the future for sure.
Visma not winning a grand tour sounds nuts, but in fact they only have Jonas as a main contender. He could lose the Tour for sure, but if he rides Vuelta with Kuss at his side, I dont see him being beat there.
One of mine would be van Baarle for his 2nd monument. But definitely hope Wout will win one too.
I agree with your no. 7.
I expect an unforgettable battle of Pogacar, Vingegaard, Roglic, Evenepoel at the Tour de France 2024. Everyone has tactics, tenacity and strength in their legs. I can't say for sure who will win, but I assume it will be Vingegaard, he always has a clear tactic that always helps him. I hope to see him at other major races this year. 👍🏼🔥
It is going to be a great tour! Who are your choices for the Giro and La Vuelta?
I think at the Giro and Vuelta we will see riders who will not be able to compete on the Tour. For example, Van Aert, who will be there to fight for stages and jerseys. I think we will see Healy and Gall there, who have already shown themselves at previous races. There are chances for senior riders like Bardet or Landa. Bernal, who is close to returning, I hope he will also show a top result.
Van Aert will do the grand slam of Paris Roubaix, Ronde van Vlanderen, WC RR, Olympics RR
Have you seen MvdP ride in the cross? He is in the best form he's ever been in
@@pongauer91 that's why he won't be in this shape during classics
I see someone is taking inspiration from the Lanterne Rouge podcast previews...
WvA green jersey at the Giro, wins Flanders and road Olympic gold
Primos tdf yellow
Jonas second at tdf, red at Vuelta
Pogaca wins the Giro
Quintana second at Giro
Laporte wins Strade
Some hot takes there!🔥
I like #7!
Lidl-Trek will have rider in top5 on every Grand Tour
Not a snowball's chance in hell Cav will take a stage at the TdF unless they gift it to him, which I can't see that happening, assuming he makes the TdF squad. Wout will win a monument, Flanders or Roubaix. MVDP for Strade (if it's in his program) and likely the Olympic RR.
He definitely makes the TdF squad, we are talking about Astana here and they have gone full in on Cav's 35th TdF win.
I think your hottest take was not including MVP in your hot takes.
If his dominance over Pidcock and Van Aert is anything to go by (it has been the previous seasons), this will be an incredible year for him.
Indeed 😂 but that is typical on this channel. They are blindly adoring WvA and pogy. They still state that WvA is better than MvdP, look at the % win against each other. its is pathetic.
Yeah Tarling is gonna be a big one ! He maded so much progress. He probably will be better than phillipo ever was. I have the feeling Wout is gonna focus on the giro ;
I hope you guys can still make fun videos considering there's no more GCN+ and you guys will be limited in footage you can use i think?
Doubtful; Discovery owns all the footage, at least in most of Europe, so there's no issue regarding footage
MVDP blows his best form of early 2024 on cyclocross and is off his peak for the spring classics. He is on super crazy form now, and if he tries to say this hot until March-April, he could burn out.
He isn't in super crazy form at the moment, it just looks that way because Wout isn't in a good shape. They said that in last years worlds he was better shape than now, and look where that got him. On top of that, he won't try to stay in this shape untill the spring classics. He will back down for 2-3 months and train in spain.
@@TGShunai His own team and Wout said that he is in amazing form at the moment. He is destroying the entire field in every race, not just Wout. Who knows if he can even hold this peak until the world championship. I agree that he will have some time to recover before the spring classics, but there's only a little over 7 weeks between the cyclocross world championships (Feb 3-5) and Flanders (Mar 31). Wout won't have to recover as much because he isn't pushing for a super peak now. Obviously, it could turn out like last year, but with Wout approaching the early season differently and MVDP maybe at an even higher peak than this time last year, it might not.
@@rlm4471 I agree that he destroys the entire field but they are no match for him, Wout is. But Wout is not in form, which is why he rides together with the rest of the field. If Wout was destroying the field and Mathieu was still 2 min ahead of Wout, then I would agree that he's already peaking. But right now he isn't on his peak yet, he said that last week. There are still some % to gain towards Worlds (his words). And he said that worlds isn’t the real peak, the real formpeak is during the spring classics. (again, his words)
Pogačar will do a historic Quadruple Crown: Giro-Tour double, Olympics gold, and becoming World Champion.
As much as i would like that 🤣🤣🤣 dosn't seem achievable
@@jelou67 Well it is a hot take after all. There is still a small possibility of it happening. He's the big favorite for Giro. I won't count him out for the Tour even if Jonas is the big favorite. He could benefit from the fact that teams are really small at the Olympics so the chase might not be as organized. Then, he's one of the two big favorites for Worlds along with Remco.
@@monsiogabar525 oh yeah? for WC i thought it would be WVA and MVDP even with the climbing
@@jelou67 People have said that the parcours suits those who do well at races like Liege and I kinda get that. The main climb could be long enough to drop MVDP and Wout and its steepest section is around at the top. They also tackle it seven times and after the climb, it's quite lumpy too. I think it's the hilliest parcours that the Worlds had since 2020.
It is a big ask! Have you seen our thoughts on his season plan?👉ruclips.net/video/3VOpWMVHwHA/видео.html
Michael Mørkøv will give Cav the perfect lead out. So yeah the Manx missile will enter a record breaking year 🚴🏼♂️💨💨
A great partnership! How do you think Astana will do in their whole season?
Don’t really know what to expect but as a Dane I’m looking forward to see how Anton Charmig will progress. He’s very dedicated 🚴🏼♂️💨💨
Isnt there too many TT kms for quintana
One of the silliest things in professional cycling is the naming conventions. I think changing the name of the teams every time the named sponsor changes robs a storied franchise of a lot of its legend. I am all for putting the sponsor on the jersey but pick a name for the team that stays and add the names sponsor(s) after. Follow the football model.
Visma no GT wins: hot
WvA wins monument: lukewarm
Kopecky LBL: 30 seconds in microwave warm
SD Worx sweeps Flanders: room temperature
Tarling World Champ: lukewarm
De Lie MSR: hot
Cav no win: lukewarm
Nairoman Giro podium: hot
Started strong and finished strong but we need to work on the middle, 6/10 hotness overall
What would your hot takes be for the season ahead?👀
Cavendish got jobbed at TDF two years ago when left off the roster.
These are lukewarm takes at best
Tadej Pogačar will win the Giro!
At least I hope so.
Gonna be a good year for cycling, for those of us still breathing, Happy New Year!
Keep it fun folks!
You don't understand hot takes
Pogacar winning the Tour after doing the Giro is my hot take and I think it's unlikely to happen. Vingegaard will focus more on the Tour, he will be very hard to defeat.
Do you think Vingegaard will do the Tour/Vuelta double or will GC Kuss defend his title?🇺🇸
Pogacar to win the giro by 1min.
Jayco allua take the king of mountains in one of the grand tours plus overall will in one week races, tour of oman, Dubai, tour down under, caleb ewan to win a stage in a grand tour then major win in one day race after tour de france
De Lie to stick with Pogacar up the Poggio? Have you been at those Belgian Beers again?
Van Aert already won a monument :) but yes very much time for another one
1-No: Jumbo will win at least one Grand Tour.
2-Yes: Wout will win at least one monument. He kind of has to.
3-Yes: That sounds plausible, if she starts and doesn't get injured or ill.
4-No: That sounds a bit too much. Maybe two of three.
5-Yes: I can see that, if he is on 100% form and fitness.
6-No: It's of course possible, but there are too many other hungry riders going for this cake.
7-Yes: Cavendish is declining since a few years. Maybe on a very lucky day, but rather not.
8-No: Competition will be too strong. I can sse him being around fifth.
you are a controversial guy haha; I think Cav ‘s gonna get it 😊 . Thanks for the video!
Sepp Kuss will be on the podium of both TDF and Vuelta. Obviously, this is wishful thinking . . . but he could very well be on one GC podium in 2024.
MVDP more monument(s)
Tom Piddcock, will he focus on one day classics / GC ambitions
Who are your top picks for the monuments?
Cav won 4 tdf stages at 36 yezrs in 2021
dPoel making Wout look pedestrian in CX season so far.
Honestly, Wout is just beating the b-drivers in cyclo, I think he's not in great shape yet. But Visma will make sure he's ready for the classics, I predict fireworks
Ineos will get a podium place at the TDF.
MVDP will win Road, XC and CX World Champs and Olympic gold in CX
Nothing on MvdP?
Honestly, he is as good as he'll ever be right now. Serious contender for the classics, WC and the Olympics.
And stating that vingegaard wont win the tour? It's a dice roll really. I dont see roglic or evenepoel beat him but pogi and vingegaard are so insanely equal.
As a Colombian I feel excited by your hot take 8. But.. I think it’s too unrealistic… specially with the amount of TT kms there is in this years Giro.
the WvA prediction is not looking good sadly. hope he is back to racing soon
Cav will win a tour stage on pure instinct and positioning.
Remco will not podium a grand tour.
And I‘d love to see De Lie in a long sprint against MvdP, WVA and Ganna on the via Roma. Just a raw watts and lactate.
Yeah, because he positioned himself so well last year. Hahahahaha.
I am really disappointed with Visma, the way they accepted that young rider who defected from Bora. And I agree, Dan, tho' Cav iss Mr. July and could pull out a surprise, it would have to be a surprise as no way is he on par with his peers and understandably so, Cav owned the previous decade and aside from his stunning four-win Tour of '21, this decade hasn't seen much of him as a winner and again, no knock on him, I'd like to see him get #35, and at least he achieved a tie for most stage wins. And as an aside, Tadej has a bunch of wins already, one has to wonder if he might go for that record.
Hot Takes
Ineos - win 2 monuments
Ineos dont podium a GT
Ineos get more WT wins than Jumbo
WVA - doesn't win a WT race
Pogi doesn't podium Giro/Tour but then wins Olympics and Worlds
Evenepoel wins the Tour
I think Cian Uitdebroeks will join the podium of the giro and he will join the podium of a Ardennes Classic
Do you think he will get the freedom at the Classics with Wout there?
I think he will get a free rol in the classics
Trek and alpecin will dominate more races in 2024 than teams like Ineos and Soudal Quick-step
Skjelmose wil win 1-2 in Giro, tour de france or the vuelta
The last one is impossible. This year’s Giro route is the opposite to a Quintana route.
There is 68km of ITT and only one high mountain top finish!
And Quintana sucks haha
Who is your pick for the Giro?
@@gcnracing obvious but Pogacar. Only way he doesn’t win is crash or injury.
Jai Hindley 2nd. Geraint Thomas 3rd.
@@EdPaice Hindley is said to support Roglic in the TdF
I'll step out further on a limb with Cav -- I don't know that he'll make it to the Tour much less get #35. The only reason he'll be allowed to go is to try for the record, which he won't get if he goes. Sprinting requires so much snap, and at age 39 even the greatest racers just don't have it any longer. My prediction is should he go to the Tour he won't finish any higher than 5th on a single stage, and when it becomes evident he won't get the record, he'll abandon. Prove me wrong.
GMBN Racing need to put out more content.......a 6 month hibernation is no good for a sport looking to grow, and attract sponsors.
1. WVA will win Paris-Roubaix
2. MVDP will win RVV and Milan-Sanremo
3. Pogacar will win the Giro, but will colapse in the last week of the Tour
4. Vingegaard will make it 3 in the Tour
5. Remco Evenepoel will surprise us in the Tour and become 4th in the GC
6. Evenepoel will win Giro do Lombardia and Liege-Bastogne-Liege
Remco becoming 4th in the Tour would be a surprise? I'd say he's a favorite to at least make it in the top 4 next to Roglic, Pogacar and Vingegaard.
I’ll go for Biniam girmay winning a monument
yes
De Lie seems like he should be able to take at least 2 of the lesser Classics.
Derek Gee finally WINS a Giro/TdF stage; Felix Gall gets 2nd on a week-long race.
Your Tarling pick is a bold but good one.
I have no faith in Nairo doing anything, and wouldn't mind Cav getting blanked.
Hoping GCN will cover the Zwift-to-Pro like 2021/2
I expect a GCN presenter to depart and a much nicer female presenter to arrive.
Arnaud De Lie just keeps getting better! Why not Milan San Remo?🇮🇹
@@gcnracing Not ruling out Dan's prediction there. MSR seems like a crapshoot, but it's certainly within his ability.
Roglic win the Tour and Van der Poel the olympics
wow going on on a limb video more like Dan 😂😂
You have been talking Jonas down for 3-4 years now. Isn’t it getting a bit tiring?
agree Wally VA will win not one but two monuments !!
wva for PR and giro miracle GC somehow, Mvdp for flanders and olympic gold and LBL, Pogi or Mvdp for worlds, Pogi for Tdf and Remco for vuelta would be my wishea

@@christoffertrebo7150 i heards its a lot of climbing yea
agree with 1) josh tarling winning zurich ITT 2) wva wins a monument. disagree with some. cav WILL win the 35th. jumbo/jonas will win tdf.
I think those are some really well thought out predictions. I would only say I hope/don’t think Wout will win a monument this year. I actually hope Jumbo doesn’t win anything this year after there disgraceful display towards Sepp at the Vuelta. Lastly, I really hope Mark Cavendish takes one more stage. 🙏
That’s all from the side of the pond. 👍🏻🇨🇦
It doesn’t matter, because nobody will see it without GCN+…..
Kasia Niewiadoma will win Le Tour de France Femmes.
Without GCN + wtf do I care 😢
1 : Pogacar wins Giro overall; wins lombardia for 4th time. He completes podiums on WC or Olympics again.
2 : WVA wins Roubaix and Olymics or WC. With 1 or 2 other classics.
3 : Roglic podium TDF and wins the last one week tour he misses (tour de suisse i think)
4 : MVDP wins WC CX but thats quie obvious sadly. And wins the other one WVA doesn't win : Olympics or WC.
I don't really like vingegaard so i'll let you guys guess.
5 : Christophe laporte wins another spring classic. And 1 of the 2 canadian classics
Jay Vine will defend his title in Tour down under.
Pogacar is gonna do the Giro, Tour, Worlds, Olympics quadruple

Pogacar winning every race he starts😬😬
WVA will win the giro…
Lol, Cavendish will win a stage. He's still the quickest on his day
Nairo won't podium, unless he finds Valverde's special box under the seat of the team bus. Cav will win number 35, and 36. Jumbo will take at least 1 x GT. Women will continue to be under valued by the dinosaurs running the sport.
Will Rohan Dennis be convicted of murder/ manslaughter?
Nothing on MvdP, he will win nothing in 2024 en retires at the end of the year 😂😂😂😂
ban electric toothbrushes...... Total waste and resource
Cavendish will not win his stage, no way... all the hype in the world won't help him, too many hungry and faster guys, hopefully he won't take out a younger faster guy trying got pull off some silly moves like last year .. Arnaud de Lie will win Paris Roubaix ... Wout will take E3 Harelbeke and the Ronde... MVdP will repeat Strada and podium San Remo... sorry Poggi and Primoz, no TDF for you, Jonas will win again.... The Giro... Sepp Kuss..? I cant see Ineos having much of a year again, Piddock might win something, maybe Amstel. Remco will win the Vuelta again, if he feels like and and doesn't crack the shits over something or another..
Primoz may not get his way this year, depends on his team, but Jumbo's depth and experience will be enough, although Bora made a good fist of it last year, Jonas can out climb him and has proven to be a more than adequate TT'er, plus his age.
Cian Uijtdebroeks will win Flèche Wallone, the guy is a monster, or he'll take a stage or two, he's racing the Tour, isn't he..?
