    Can the hardware in total knee replacement be over sized meaning it feels like your skin is going to rip open? I'm two months post op and my hamstring feels like its tearing away from my bone!

    Had both knees replaced, left doing good, but right knee makes a popping noise when doing above exercises and sore. Any reason why? Surgery on that knee done in Nov 2018; left done July 4, 1918.

    First 4 weeks are hardest, not pain, but, sleeping.

    • @highphysics3617
      @highphysics3617 4 года назад

      Absolutely agree with you. Trying to sleep has been a nightmare. Three weeks post op and under thigh muscles hurt like hell!

      @@highphysics3617 ok Allison I am finishing my fourth week. The key is pain meds and keep on schedule and yes even with limited pain meds so you don’t get addicted your sleep is a tough nut. So during the day I take a 1-2 hour nap but no longer unless I am really super exhausted which was only one time due to AC failing and having to put in a window unit for my wife. I was up past 3:00 am an she was just a mess and I was the patient. Anyway I am an old athlete and military man and can sleep in any type temp as long as a fan is blowing. So this Friday August 6 will be four weeks since TKR. I had a 3 D replacement but no one has mentioned if recovery is snd faster or less painful. My personal opinion is it is the individual and the surgeon’s work that will determine that. The first time I actually did not wake up at 2 or 3 in the morning for pain meds was last night. If your knee is killing you with pain meds during the later part of the night get up and ice your knee. You can ice it for 30 minutes as many times as you need to. Always take your pain meds at least one hour before your therapy. I have an OptiFlex-K-1 knee flexing machine brought in by a company that works with my orthopedic surgeon and I started out a very limited flexibility degree and now after four weeks I am at the max of 120 degrees. I do this the first thing every morning as soon as I get my meds and coffee Ha! Then I have another piece of therapy equipment brought in called a KINEX . Not sure on the spelling here. It has a knee wrap that goes around your leg with the knee cap open and cold water is circulating through it snd back to the machine. It has passive pressure squeezed on and off for around 30 minutes. The in starts cooling down but still squeezing passively to help your capillaries take away the fluid caused by inflammation and stretching of the scar tissues trying to keep forming. I use the flex machine for 3 x a day snd the coolant for as many times I need to. It is getting close to the end of the 30 days the Medicare and private insurance will pay for these machines. Then I will have to start making the coolant bags that are explained on the several podcast. Good luck
