I'm having my right knee done Feb 20 and my left knee done April 2. I've had 6 weeks of PT before surgery and am now just keeping up with the exercises to try to get more flexion and extension before the surgeries start. These videos are really helpful. Thanks for making them.

Pain meds 1st month?!? I'm 5 days post op and I'm out of pain meds and they won't give me more! Had to get a vascular ultrasound today because they thought I had clots! The pain is excruciating!!! The swelling is put of control! I'm refusing PT intil my pain level is under control since they won't give me more meds! I will continue watching these videos and doing this from home

Question I’m going in for my second replacement for my other knee what else can I do in the first 2-3 weeks to prevent a manual bend I had to to do go through my first time around. I didn’t sit in bed the first couple weeks post-op but I didn’t really push to hard and I felt my knee locked up on my because of that. I was always behind on where my bend should have been according to my physical therapist and eventually had to go in for a manual bend which was a nightmare because I was literally starting over. I guess I just assumed I’d have a good bend once the stitches were out and I didn’t do too much because I didn’t want to tear them. Sorry I’m long winded.

Awesome. 13 months ago had total hip replacement. Was 65. Surgeon the greatest because I only had to take 1 pain pill about 24 hrs after being discharged. Drove my stick shift Honda 3 days after surgery. Then came problems. Physiotherapy clinic was a hack. Physiotherapist stuck in their lunchroom surfing websites for rifles. Yup, I'm in tx. Assistant was convinced he had to give me the workout of my life. Big mistake! U want to do motion to promote circulation to heal and detox. Miniscule amount of very careful stretching ok. U got to get bigger range of motion. And no more! Limit the reps to max of 4. Then get up and walk (w walker or cane) between sets. 45 minutes is more than enough. Surgeon's assistant (awesome lady like Jordan) demanded that I go for at least 4 weeks, min x2 / week. End of 4th week she had to give me antiinflammatories. Physiotherapy I received was detrimental. Have nicely recovered. Nope, can't run, no aerobics, scared to do pilates, no tennis, but am active. Ordered new tires for my bicycle and hopefully will be riding soon. After surgery forget the strength training and work on circulation, motion, and explore a little range. The "no pain, no gain" is BS. Thank u for sharing!
Ps. Walker is difficult. Go to Walmart, find a nice shopping cart and start walking laps around the store supporting yourself w the cart. 40 minutes is good. Employees think u crazy but that's ok. And eat 16 oz wild caught tuna or sockeye salmon every day.

It won’t be possible for people to dangle their knee off the side of the bed. I just had my operation. Overall good advice

Try using a plastic bag or trash bag. Put that on your seat and it will make it easier for you to slide in and out.

After I busted my patella in a fall, I should have had a total knee replacement but instead Drs pieced it back together and I KNOW that in doing so they secured the pieces too tightly which has left me with limited range of motion even after physical therapy. I know it was because of insurance reasons 😣
