Looks like a great project….it will be fun! …I use a 12 volt Colman “cooler” I can dial in how cool I want it to be right up to it becoming a freezer…no more ice melting issues..water wipe ups, remembering to replace the ice blocks ..works well and I can take it camping..! Always enjoy watching your adventures an creative ingenuity! You go girl!
Absolutely ingenious!
Very fine freezer, great job, in Switzerland they call that with the ice, is... the ice is singing...lol....I think that is so cool....your one strong women...love your videos..very inspirational 😊❤
Hi Alone, great job on the icebox! Using the smaller ice blocks will re-freeze faster too. Just keep an eye on the self-adhesive liner; some bugs are attracted to the glue/adhesive as food,
Hugs for Kenai, and take care!
Nice work
Nice project. Old ways are what got us to this point and time. Modern isn't always better. Have a great weekend!
Wow Alone you did a beautiful job on the icebox. I didn't know that ice made noise how interesting. That would have had me back in the car fast, and looking for Bigfoot or maybe a ghost that sound was kind of eerie.
Beautiful, gorgeous Alaska!! I love the icebox id. I love the look of the icebox too. I just love your whole cabin!! Hugs and kisses to sweet Kenai. Take care and God Bless y'all always
Nice job on the new icebox, I like the liner you put inside, very fancy. Hope it lasts a long time.
Wow, the fact that the Yeti with the ice block was freezing you things makes me realize that they are worth the money. I am going to guess that if I used a smaller ice block than you do it wouldn’t freeze my food on a camping trip.
The new icebox looks amazing!! You are so creative! So strange that the ice on the lake makes that noise. Thanks for the video! Take care! 😊❤️
We own three original oak ice boxes. Two have the long side door with wire shelves inside. They both have a metal tray that slides in to the entire bottom to catch any drips. Our smaller one has a top on hinges that lifts up to put your ice block into it. That area is lined with metal. We don’t actually use them but they are complete and could be used. I love to use them for organized storage.❤😊
I was thinking the same thing with a shallow tray to hold the ice or for on bottom.
You continue to amaze and impress me! Excellent job on that icebox!
Very good job looks very nice it's gonna come in handy My old ice box had the ice in the bottom of the ice box not in the top I guess it's so the ice water condensation doesn't drip down on top of your food I don't know whatever works for you is best nice to see your videos girl keep up the good work and take care
Thanks for the video, Alone! Glad you were able to get to the post office to pick up the package. I hope you enjoy the caramels! Take care,
Tiff
I love the idea of the icebox ! Good job Miss Lady ! 😊
What a great idea. I love it. We used to use one up at my uncles cabin when I was a kid. Anyways great job girl cheers 🇨🇦🌷
You have some real good ideas.
It will be interesting to see how well this icebox works out over time. It definitely seems like it would meet your needs better. Neat project!
Now lol I will say that I've built a great many things, from multi million dollar homes to lawnmower race carts to even a racoon condo ( in Florida) but I never even attempted to build my own appliances lol you go Aira!! ✊️😊 I hope it works out well for ya, I know that flex seal isn't cheap, but I think you thought this out well...ya know what they say, Necessity is the Mother of all inventions 👍🏻👍🏻 nice job!
Awesome, love the fridge !! great idea and it turned out super !!
I gotta say I love the furniture pieces that you pick out. They're always so beautiful.
Very clever fridge project. You are very practical. Stay safe and enjoy the winter
Holy cats Alone I’d give up meat and get electricity Good luck that was a ton of work
I wonder if it would help to place your ice blocks on a wire shelf over the stored food since cold air falls? Also didn't real ice refrigerators have some sort of ventilation?
Sweet! Freeze water and soda bottles, they dont leak like bags of ice just cycle them into freezer as they defrost. Plastic or glass dish to line bottom. 2 years ago my solar system was acting up so I had a neighbor who said he knew how to work on solar systems. Well he freed my system so I have lived without any electricity for 2 years and have no money to replace my solar system. So School of Hard Knocks I've learned to do without electricity or Refrigeration.
Awesome Video! This is the kind of thing that people really need to see right now. Great idea and execution of the project!
W op w love the ice box idea, love how you do things yourself, love it all, you’re the best channel ❤❤Brun
On your 5 pound ice pack... can you put a link on wear I can order it? Thank you
Love the icebox conversion. Is there anything you can't do? 🙂
I like how the icebox ended up looking. The other was to dark. So your finished product is perfect!
Looks so antique.
Very great ideas and a fun project.
It looks very nice miss alone.great job on redoing it.hope it works well for you.
Ever heard of a ICY BALL REFRIGERATOR?? They look perfect for offgrid living.one of these day I plan on building one to see how it works..they where commercialy made at one time and there's alot of information on the web on them.
I used to have that same shelf liner. I got it from Dollar Tree. You did a great job on this project ! Well thought out, well done ! 🍃🍂🍁🦃Happy Fall🍃🍂🍁🦃
I'm surprised you didn't consider a gas refrigerator.
I know you want to get away from appliances but no need for the grid You just need the fuel.
Could you add a wire rack/shelf at the top to set the freezer packs on so they don't fall out or touch items?
Also, would placing the "ice box" in the Arctic entry area help to keep it colder? They sell small battery-powered fans for RV refrigerators to help with the cold air circulation.
I hope you can also find a wood cook stove with a reservoir on the side that heats water. Check out Lehmon's.
@Alone Hi my friend, great to catch your latest vid. May I suggest you use screws not nails, to pull your pieces of wood together. Not too late for this project but def keep in mind for future use.
What a great idea! It really turned out great! I admire you for your projects, you have so much patience and tenacity. The sound of the ice was intersting. Is it the ice moving in the water or the wind or? Im still not sure I understand how the noise was being created by the ice.
That mactack shelf liner will surprise you with how it holds up. I have had it on my kitchen shelves (same original liner) for 20 years. I bought a house where they lined all six sides with the stuff and it was hell to get off. Isn't it great to get one more item off your honey do list
You did a real nice job on the ice box. Just a hair brain idea, what would happen if you wrapped the ice cubes in a towel or something similiar, would it help keep the ice longer and maybe keep it not quite soo cold in the ice box?? Thanks for sharing your projects, adventures and scenery with us. CMQCAA++
There are coolers that operate like a refrigerator. Charges like a cellphone. A lot of truckers use them. His wife would pack for a 2 week trip.
Wow! That's a great way to use that cabinet! You did good!
What about a piece of insulation outside/across the whole back? Just curious.
Looks like you have a plan. My Dad drove the ice wagon & then the ice truck when he was a kid.
Hope you don't mind me asking how long are your average summers
❤ Good stuff! I Really enjoy all your content!
Chad, BRW,AK.
Wow! You are a true survivor and very crafty with your hands. The lake sound was very interesting.
Excellent idea! Good work too, enjoy your Ice Box...
Good info. I am planning solar since they wanted min 13 grand to hook up to the grid. Buys a nice solar system and no monthly bills. Just me but then I am sort of a rebel lol
Miss,
Nice job on the icebox...
BigT
Hi Alone 👋It’s good to see you. I’ll be commenting as I watch✌️🥰
Oh I also loved the darker stain. I also wondered why you didn’t get an antique ice box. My husband had an antique ice box like yours. It has a place you add a block of ice. I hope it works well for you. ~ Janet 😘
maybe you can use the out side cold to help keep things cold. i love the piece nice job.
Maybe a small cookie pan on the bottom to catch the water
Cool idea Mrs Alone on the icebox! Looks really really good! Stay safe and warm!😊❤
Such a beautiful replica! That is going to be beautiful Alone!
That Yeti is a beast lol 😂
Great stuff as always, ma’am👍🏾❤️🙏🏽
Wow, it's 28.62p in the UK. :)
Great job!
That turned out awesome! Keep us updated on it please ✌️🥰
Very nice lake and that noise would be scary. Very nice video.
Wow absolutely amazing how you changed a wooden cabinet into a refrigerator. Totally awesome. I have to work next Tuesday night but I will listen to your live silently at my desk. 🤫 . Another great educational video. Cool sound of the ice 🧊 covered lake 🤗💖💕
Good video and thank you much.
Memories. I had one of those cabinets in 1982.
Thanks for sharing 😊
Very clever 😍👏👏👏
Wow! Ice actually hums.
That is a great idea.
Love the character of Dewey! Sas is a pretty dork 😂, like your humor.
😢Great job. !! You nailed it❤
I love the ice box! I really loved the dark stain because it matched your other furniture...🖤🤎🖤
When I was about 6th grade and younger to think about it we had those ice box refrigerators where you put a block of ice in it that block of ice doesn't last at all long especially on hot days they might be better if they were underground in a colder area but if above ground no them ice blocks don't last long anything like milk or sour cream or like that would have to pretty much be touching that ice blocks or it would be spoiled😮

Very cool cabinet. It came out great. It's similar to what the "Boss of the Swamp" did with the foam, but using ice blocks instead. Hopefully it will continue to do what you want it to!
I want to move to Alaska and build a cabin close by but I don't have any money.
Nice job! I am so agreed with you. I have 2 questions: 1) if pure snow will cool it the same as ice? 2) is there a difference where you place ice, upper shelf or down?
You could do like half of Alaska and turn old appliances (and plumbing fixtures) into yard orniments.
Forgive me if you've said this already on a video, been binge watching but missed it if you did. Where do you get your amazing skirts!?!?! I need them in my life!
That turned out really nice!! I owned an antiques store for 15 years and we purchased one at an auction for the store. I was tempted to keep it!! Nice job and the Lake sounds....Amazing! Thank you for sharing 💗
If you start getting your throat burning and throat cancer just remember you were told so with that spray paint and that flexi
Whoa, the ice box looks amazing! I never knew such things exist. Glad to see what you're up to, cheers!
Alone, I used that very same shelf liner on a counter top one time and it lasted for several years. The counter top was used daily and it held up, so I am sure that the icebox that you made will last quite a while with that liner.
👍😎🇨🇦❄
I have an original one it has slate shelves, I freeze large water bottles of water that I leave outside to freeze that way no liquid gets out in the ice box.
Can't say jack of all trades lol guess snow flake of all trades lol
Interesting project. It looks like it turned out to be very functional.
Amen to heavy whipping cream for coffee 😅😅
That is a very cool idea, and I will try to keep it in mind for when I move off grid.
Cool
You can also use an electric carving knife to cut foam
Cool idea be watching see how it works out Ice is amazing
For your Yeti maybe use a smaller ice pack and it won’t freeze?
I was thinking put reflectix between ice and food for barrier as well
good job... practical and good looking to boot.
And also a aluminum tape on top yep study and research
I'm 73 can I come live with you? Ha ha ha 😂
Cool refrigerator! Alot of work!
Great job
I started watching your channel almost from the beginning and when I noticed you were left-handed I said this girl will make it in AK, it is a "leftie" thing. 90% of people won't get it, and yes I am part of that 10% but I can also use my incorrect hand.
I’m left footed. 😂
@@MountainMariner Ed, I am too at times but that is because the other foot is found in my mouth. 🤣🤣
Ever see the movie, My Left Foot? (Im old…) it was a good movie, and true story about an amazing man.
