Actually, he said he uses compound movements that isolate weak links like close stance squats, stiff legged/deficit deadlifts and close grip bench. It is a way of protecting your joints without losing strength or size. Get strong without injuries. He knows!!
I added 45lb to my DL 1rm after incorporating just block pulls. Allowed me to get way more volume, less sore less warm up needed in some cases. I could go on about the other variation i added after but i used it as a control and. The block pulls alone will take you up a notch.
@Thomas McGillcompound movements are more efficacious in the context of maximum recoverable volume. They are the fastest progressing movements due to the large amount of musculature that is being worked and stimulated.
@@Qwerty_789 exactly...and any movement where you can use the most weight ala compound lifts..is going to build more muscle and strength. If a person chose to simply do one basic movement for each body part and get as strong as possible on each lift....bench press, overhead barbell press, deadlift, barbell row, squat..you could build a big thick powerful strong physique more faster than a person just doing a "isolation" single joint movement. Back in the day when there were no advanced machines..all those guys did was basic barbell movements and built thick strong as a bull physiques. What it comes down to in this modern era..is most of these dudes dont want to lift hard and heavy. They dont want to put in the work. You listen to most of their statements as to why they dont want to do the basic lifts as the foundation...their responses make no sense..its a cop out. If you are an healthy able male and truly serious about getting big and strong..you should be squatting heavy, benching heavy, deadlifting heavy, overhead pressing heavy, close grip benching heavy, barbell rowing heavy. There should be no excuse not to. Get in there and put in the work smh.
MAX POWER Lmfao. Have fun with your 135 bench and 12.5 inch arms. Google image “Chinese weightlifting team” and tell me those guys dont look good. Or Klokov. Or Dan Green or Bradley Martyn. All those guys are way stronger AND look way better than any bodybuilder for the past 20 years who just look like gross mass monsters and synthol users.. You’re believing complete lies anyways, lifting doesnt change bone structure if you dont have wide hips squatting or deadlifting will not make them wider.
sounds like the point is from the lack of isolations we see Dan do, at least from what he posts; comparing to the ton of GHRs leg raises people Dave have people in the compound do
@@Qwerty_789 So you think Dan Green is bigger then Phil Heath? Bro, you need to learn a thing or 2 about lifting. Isolation>superior for building muscle, even westside uses hypertrophy methods for gaining strength. Dan Green is a freak and what works for him DOESNT work for 99% of lifters out there.
@@silentk59 How are you going to compare Dan Green to Phil Heath? I am almost 100% certain that Phill Heath blasts a fuck ton more drugs than Dan. Phil also has top teir genetics for muscle bellies. Dan green actually has insane amounts of muscle seeing how he is lean af when he competes in 220 class at 5'10. I would estimate his bodyfat percentage to be around 9% at the end of his cut fora 220 meet, so this puts his FFMI over 28. Insane amounts of mass.
Absolutely, if you have very long arms its hard to get a contraction at the top of your bench so it would make muscle building with that movement harder. Lets say your arms are shorter in the deadlift with longer legs your mid back lats will take more force as opposed to the person with long arms may only in the traps.
@@aresjerry I definitely have trouble with my bicep beak. I’ve tried all kinds of concentration curls and lifting a decent amount of weight without giving up my form. Same goes for triceps, arms have just been a struggle to grow.
Because all lifters should??? Not sure why anyone would question putting compounds over isolation movements. It's common knowledge. Compounds build majority of the mass, isolation comes after and builds the weak points.

Squats/ Bench/ Deadlifts/ OHPs

@Jim Lahey haha Whats up Mr. Lahey! Deficits are great too. Very close to a squat like movement. Great combo with snatch grip too
Dan is LEGEND

What about limb length, does that play a role in what builds more muscle?
