  • My husband and I met Michael Nesmith on the 1st day of the 2014 Monkees Convention. I left the camera around my neck to record meeting him, hence the shaky camera work. He signed 2 items for me.

    I'm surprised Mike relented and started embracing his past as a Monkee these last few years. For the longest time he would refuse to even acknowledge those years when approached by fans, to the point of sometimes becoming hostile about it. Make no mistake, Mike is a talented man and did many more things in his life apart from being with the Monkees, but nothing he did after brought him to the same level of prominence and I think he resented that. I also feel that Davy passing away might have had something to do with his change of heart after all this time.

    I have seen Davy solo and Micky solo and Pete solo tours and they all signed for free after the show.

      Peter played at a club not too far from me about a decade ago. He hung around after the show for over an hour talking to fans and giving autographs. Peter is a 100% class gentleman.

      Yes they did! I saw the three of them in concert in Portland, Maine back in 2001. I had the night of my life. I'd give almost anything to be able to see them one last time.

    Well the first lady is talikng to him about the photo on her phone like he is 90 years old, and the lady with the shirt didn't even say anything to Mike like, "It is a pleasure to meet you and thank you SO much for taking the time to do this for me" I mean, I see it the opposite way from most comments here - I think Nez is being patient with these people, I mean they don't seem to be thanking him enough to me. I can tell you for a FACT that Nez is one caring guy- I did a portrait of him in 1986- sent it to him not wanting anything in return- I never conceived of it as he was super busy doing the movie producing --not only did he write me a personal letter and I almost fainted ,but too much to type here it is a very involved and alot of detail- but do you know he sent me more gifts over the decades dated to the EXACT DAY he recieve that portrait from me years before? My mother and I and my husband couldn't believe it! THAT is the kind of caring, man Michael Nesmith is. I treasure those gifts and that letter- it is beautiful and shows his caring nature. Kim P.S.: WHYYYYY IS THERE A LINE IN MY SENTENCE?!!! IT IS TRUERUclips! HOWDARE YOU!

    Horrible atmosphere. Fans treated like intruders. Over the top guard, ticket prick and $100 for each item?! And then you had to pay another 100 for a picture with Mike. That's a lot for a show that ended 50 yrs ago.

      Yeah really...and Mike is richer than God...he certainly doesn't need that money. I LOVED him when I was young, but as an adult, he comes across as cold and snooty...

      +rejected reject Exactly! Not only did Mike want that first one out of there, he was pushy and not overly friendly with the second lady, didn't care to even look at a couple pictures. I thought he was pretty rude, in my opinion!

    Let me get this straight.....you pay a min of 160.00 bucks for 3 days admission...or you can upgrade for 100.00 to VIP. THEN you can fork over 500.00 for a bubbly brunch then on top of that you have to pay more money to get things signed by the group while 2 over the hill body guards move you on or try to step in when you want a photo? Hey Hey we're the rip-OFFEES!. You gotta be kidding me. Not including the air fare and hotels and food. It would be cheaper flying to his town and hanging out at the local costco until he comes out of hiding to hit the deli. Then these guys bring their kids so you can buy stuff off them too? I don't get it. That Andy Sodoval or whatever really knows how to milk a cat as well as Rhino and the members of the group itself. This kind of money you'd expect to fork out for old A-listers still together or single acts like Joel, McCartney, etc. Whew boy!

    • @Gigiroo
      @Gigiroo 10 лет назад +2

      my thoughts exactly, al. i think the con was indeed a con. simple. too much money was being spent here. i agree that SOME amount of money should have been spent for special things that you wanted to do but it was wrong and a rip off to be there to fork over this hard earned cash these fans have painstakingly earned just to be with their favorite idols. :(

    • @kamwrites

      Wow. A few years ago I paid a hundred bucks for a meet and greet at one of Micky's concerts. Had a good conversation with him and his sister, had things signed, took a photo, hung out for a few hours. This is definitely a rip off.

      I have it on good authority Nesmith was given 400k to attend that convention...that's where the money went. Dumbasses. Nesmith is a real life asshat
      Really weird human being.

    You guys were so nice to him , but he could not have been more detached and uninterested. I understand if celebs do not wish to participate in these affairs. But if they DO decide to go that route, at least have the decency to show some interest in the people paying enormous amounts of money to just say hello. Nesmith has always stated he has a grounded perspective on being a celebrity. If that statement is remotely true then he should display some degree of respect for the people who pay good money to meet him. If it doesn't fit with his sense of self or what he would do if he were a fan, then DON'T DO IT. Mommy's trust fund can pay his electric bills.

      He didn't need to do the monkees series and put the other guys through hell....if he thought it was below him, why did he even bother auditioning....he certainly wouldn't have made it on "his" music....his oldest son is even worse, arrogant, and snotty....he's always trying to promote his very bad music...

    It's a puzzle why Mike, always loathe to have anything to do with the Monkees, became so active in the promotion during the final years of his life. Makes you wonder who was controlling him behind the scenes for money. I think the Mike of the 70's to the 00's was the real Mike. Even though us Monkee fans dreamed about the Mike of the last 10 years and blissful reunions, the Mike of the last 10 years doesn't seem like the real Mike.
