Don't judge everyone by your own standards they said they enjoyed cooking try listening
+DewtonBrothers And then they ate ramen.
MARK HULSE Optimist, I dig it. Hunt them down and ask them if they're still cooking this or ramen. $100 on ramen
+MARK HULSE Yeah,I said im an alien too
+DewtonBrothers Hahah!
And when Gordon left, they sat on the couch with a beer, looked at each other and said, Yeah, not doing that again.
+Mc Swabin Considering his "basic curry" would take like an hour or two to make for a single person if not longer ... yeah.
Congratulations...You win my comment of the day award.
Pretty sure that's how it always goes.
+redavatar ya when it's just for me, I'll grab whatever I see, stick it between two slices of bread, spread something on it, and call it a sandwich. But I'm glad I'm a decent cook when I'm cooking for friends or family. It's a good skill to have. :)
+Jean-Simon Lavertu
prepping all that from scratch would take quite a bit of time, 40-45 mins at the fastest to make a dish like this on your own. Although, after the paste is made and stored in the fridge it cuts it down to about 20-25 mins. It's nice having help in the kitchen.
"What did you do last weekend?"
"Oh nothing, Gordon Ramsey came by my flat and we made food together."
You lucky bunch.
oh nice
Lol, I read that as "brunch"
Reminds me of the fast show 'and that was nice'
There should be a show where Gordon Ramsay teaches college kids how to cook, it would be golden!
this needs to be a thing!
As a college student who is learning how to cook I agree.
you choose that starter mate? it's gonna get killed easily knowing it's type
"Where the fuck is your saucepan?"
"Oh James is over there eating KD out of it"
"These guys are bloody worthless"
As a college student who possesses a rice cooker but doesn't know what to do with it, i second this predicament
"It's very simple!" [throws together about 237 ingredients] "Done!"
+Lytrigian That was actually a very simple thing to cook. It does have a bunch of ingredients but once you get past that its easy
+Lytrigian It has many ingredients, yes, but all you have to is blend them all together into a paste. You can keep the paste in the freezer for a long time, so you can make a huge amount of paste keep it for future uses. The actual cooking process is also simple. Just throw the paste and your choice of meat into the pan. When the meat is cooked, simply pour the coconut milk. Honestly, doing dishes is harder than cooking this thing.
+Tuan Mohamad Haikal fuck I hate doing dishes, always choose to cook rather than doing dishes.
Alex McKinnon *brofist bump
+Lytrigian haha yep, started off simple enough but they just kept adding ingredients xD
2:29 "Hi, I'm 6 foot 20."
+Unknown "Guys, I shaved Chewbacca and invited him over for dinner. Hope that's OK."
+Unknown He was sat on the floor
+hawaiidispenser I think you mean 7 foot 8 but whatever
+Ryan Toucan ur fun at parties.
Elee90 it was just annoying me because who says 6 foot 20.
Everyone sitting at the table:

"It's FUCKING RAW!!!! YOU DONKEY!"

ommar365 I hope you have one of those little donut seats to sit on, because that's too much butthurt for me to handle.

KayJay I hope you're insured, because your comment gave me cancer.
In malaysia we call this masak lemak. It's actually a quite simple dish. My mom always makes this and it's very delicious. It's nice to see gordon adding his own twist on our traditional dish.
Gordon's pretty good at cooking! I wonder if he's considered making a career out of it?
you're kidding right 😂
why would he be kidding? this gordons decent with the old pots and pans
+bubble pop2212 Course not! The man can cook, he ought to get his name out there! Maybe make a little coin!
Yeah, he's pretty knowledgeable of foods. But he's still too much of an amateur when compared to those children in chopped junior.
Sarcasm, my friend. It's a beautiful language. Learn it.

Nope. That was *before* they began filming. Gordon joins in, of course.
Feminism Must Die twas a joke that would entertain us stoner Americans. I'm not familiar with your neck of the woods.
Cooking should be a compulsory subject as school (along with personal finance).
it is until the ninth year where you choose what to do after. most people know how to cook anyway, its not like theres a pandemic of middle aged bachelors and bachelorettes that cant cook. personal finance is also common sense.
Not true. Obesity is a huge problem in a lot of countries, one way we can tackle this is by showing people how to make healthy and tasty food that is simple to make. Personal finance such as tax is anything but common sense hence why most people hire accountants to do it for them. Please don't speak when you have no idea what you're talking about or, at least, give it some more thought before you speak.
ExplodedMango no normal family hires an accountant. my family only has a few accountants that manage the business and nothing else. you only need an accountant for dealing with large amounts of money from multiple sources. other than that, its not hard to use a calculator.
Cooking isn't hard. The reason people don't cook is because it's a fucking nightmare to buy the ingredients and the tools. Once you have those I'm sure everyone could agree cooking your own food is fun and tastes better.
So I think schools should teach what they teach now, that way people have more chance of having enough money to get everything delivered from posh supermarkets, and then it's just a case of throwing everything in a pot and cooking it.
With all due respect, did you actually know what for instance a SORN is when you came out of school? Or did you actually know how to properly manage your income and divide it between accounts? These things should be taught you then breed a generation who are more suited to the real world and so are more likely to be better with money. But I totally agree with you cooking isn't hard but people don't know how to do it. Sweden and Norway are perfect examples they teach their students personal finance and business finance as well as cooking (my cousins are Swedish) and it probably helped them so much in the long term.

Rampster27 For someone who cooks for himself at home, this is pretty basic. Just throwing things into a pot, little finesse needed.
Yeah this was actually really really basic. Nothing easier than blending shit together and cooking with milk, stock, chicken, and green beans.
"Spices." Thank you Gordan for being so specific.
now we use 250 g of ingredients and put them all together inside the tool, over heat.
As a Malaysian, I don't recognize this so called "Malaysian curry". I think what Ramsay was trying to replicate is a classic Malaysian dish called "Masak Lemak Kuning" or yellow coconut curry. But he had overcomplicated it to a point beyond recognition. The authentic recipe would only consist of blending fresh turmeric and chili, boiling them in plain water (not stock, no sautéing), adding coconut milk, lemongrass, turmeric leaves, salt to taste, and a choice of souring agent (small starfruits (belimbing buluh)/ unripe mangoes/ asam keping (this will be harder to find in the West)/ cut tomatoes etc.). Let it simmer and add the protein and/ or vegetable of choice. Definitely no soy sauce. Soy sauce and coconut milk do not go together in any Malaysian dish..

As a bachelor in Malaysia, we actually do this. It really isn't that complicated when you are raised in the environment. Of course Gordon didnt add a scoop of strong smelling "belacan" due to regional tastes. But that's okay
Imagine being invited over for lunch with Gordon Ramsay.
Just converted this to a vegan dish with seitan and vegetable stock. Also, cauliflower soaks up the curry sauce like a dream. The dish turned out amazing, and the boyfriend really loved it. I totally respect Ramsay's love of good meat, but I thought I'd share how easy it was to convert, and good the results were.

0:49 Is he peeling a fucking onion?... That is the dumbest way to peel an onion in the world.
holy shit lmao
Lmao
Actually peeing garlic, shallots or onions like that is pretty common (usually with a paring knife though) in high end kitchens. So it’s not unheard of just weird for home cooks to do it like that.
I'm Irish and I don't peel an onion like that lol
MY EYES scottish but yeah ok 😂🤣
Potatoes are always a great addition to a curry like that. Dice them, put them into the curry and let them boil in there until done, and the potato starch will thicken the whole sauce up nicely.
1 week later: "Dave, what did he put in again? Lemons and grass weren't it?! Yeah. Yeah, butter for the paste and finish with milk and potatoes"
20 min later: "Dave, do you still have the just eat app., yeah?"
And weed
2:30 Look at the size of that lad. Absolute unit.
"It's faster than ordering takeaway" "I need you to peel ginger" And all these other things. All that process takes longer than ordering food and you still have to buy all that produce at the grocery store too. Plus cleaning up after.
Definitely seems healthier though. Even if it isnt, you're learning to cook for yourself
What do you mean "cleaning up after.?"...just get a woman in to do it ,its what they're for lol.
It is great how Gordon make people enthusiastic for cooking

Gordon Ramsay's voice gives me tingles.
2:06 “roll of furry, stinky sticky f***ing ham” always makes me laugh 😂😂
These little snippets of Gordon teaching people to cook, diving in the ocean and grabbing crabs to cook, and stuff like that are infinitely more interesting than watching him yell at noobs in the kitchen or telling a restaurant owner the painful truth for 30 minutes at a time.

I am totally going to make that curry! Its super easy, and it looks like it tastes great. RUclips has pretty much taught me to make all sorts of awesome food. Cooking is pretty easy once you get a feel for it. Not wanting to eat crappy food, or wanting to spend tons of money on take out motivated me to learn how to cook. I save a lot of money and the food I make has turned out pretty good most of the time. Also, I like being able to talk to girls about cooking and the food I have made, or the food I am planning on making. People just need to make cooking a habit. Drinking a few beers and making a good dinner can be entertaining. Cooking does not have to be a chore.
I make curry all of the time at home and I'll definitely have to try Gordon's version.

I don’t think they’re lazy. They’re too busy being tortured by professors and have to stay up until the next morning for an exam 😂😂😂
It feels like Gordon is the mom that said “the guests are coming over in 1 hour let’s make some curry!” And the children had to help her make everything 😂
i am a malaysian and that dish is not called curry.... its called masak lemak(direct translate to english is cooked fat).. and its blody delicious.. there is a lazy version where u blend onion, ginger, chilies.mixed it with coconus milk.. cook it for 5min..add ur chicken and stock.. some tumeric+ salt and pepper..

yeah! malaysian curry!! who is malaysian here??!! only me?? okay.. bye
Malaysians unite! Could use a hell lot more chilli though.
Well, going around in just Malaysia you can already see more than one way of cooking curry. But Coconut Milk? A MUST!
Max Diegardo i have tried this recipe.. At first i thought "SOY SAUCE??!! Thats a first.." Even my grandmother (who has been cooking malaysian food for people) was like "what?!." But i just put soy sauce in anyway because gordon. Coconut milk is a thing that you have to put in. It was delicious.. You guys should definitely try it out
Kawaii Potato Hahah, hey I also like to cook, but im more like the experimental and "put everything in that sh*t!"" type of cook, so i tend to put soy sauce in almost anything, just to darken the color.
im malaysian. whats your point?

soft soggy rice is a curry's worst enemy!
i noticed that too blegh
How is that soggy, just looks like rice to me.

This looks scrumptious and all but in what world is this quicker than ordering a take-away?? And let alone the cleaning up after the meal..... Malaysian here. Don't be intimated. Do try it. It's not as hard as it looks. The blender is the trick. Throw all your ingredients apart from the proteins and garnishings in. You'll be fine. Hope you enjoy our cuisine and the flavors of South East Asia!

Ever since watching Gordon more often and MasterChef I really want to start cooking
Preparing this food might take less time than waiting for a take-away, but the problem is shopping and paying for all those high-quality ingredients.
I know fast food is cheaper in the USA than it is in Germany, but here this dish would cost ~10-15€, and that's with buying the chicken from an actual butcher and having local vegetables. Divide that by 4 and you're at ~3-4€ per person.
There is nothing special about these ingredients. Spices and vegetables are hardly expensive. The most expensive ingredient is chicken and it's hardly expensive either. When i started cooking during college I realized how cheap home cooking really is, those are excuses
True words from someone who doesn't cook. In other words, you have no clue what you're talking about.
I agree that the spices may be expensive but they have a shelf life of over a year and u hardly use more than couple teaspoons when you cook the curry. And if u divide the cost between your friends its actually cheaper to cook than to order takeaway.
Idk why but i laugh my ass off when he says 'superb' 😂😂
Eat healthy.
Uhhh yeah no
Hi +Gordon Ramsay, should I use water instead of ground oil when making the paste? just wanna be a bit more healthier. Thanks chef

Then you have to clean everything. Take-away is easier
easier, more expensive and unhealthier .
Depends where you live and how many people you're cooking for. Honestly, for one bachelor, it's often times cheaper to go out rather than cook.
Often healthier as well, unless you buy lots of veggies (which will spoil before you have time to eat them all if you're alone).
Tobias throw them in dish washer even doing it by hand only takes about 15 minutes
Conor Condon I'd say 5 min tops!
Legend has it that Gordon will always find every chicken trying to cross roads and will personally scold the dumb ass who forgot to cook the chicken.

Looks nice, and I like Gordon, but come on, bachelors cooking this sort of thing? I counted 15 ingredients there. No bachelor is going to have all that shit in their home.
Ginger (to slice)
Chillies (to slice)
Garlic (to slice)
Lemongrass (to slice)
Shallots (to slice
Some sort of curry powder? (I couldn't understand what he said)
Granola Oil
Onions (to slice)
Chicken
Coconut milk
Stock
Spices
Soy Sauce
Green beans
Rice
They most definitely wont have granola oil
Turmeric was the curry powder you couldn't understand. And yes, I fully agree with you. I don't even want to shop all those ingredients, let alone prep and cook them all alone. Think you've had a sous chef too long Gordon!
Have you heard of the grocery store? It's this magical place where you can buy all these ingredients for cooking a new dish. I'd wager even these bachelors have seen one on the drive home.
please create some more recipes for bachelors from breakfast to dinner. thanks
I honestly think there's still a lot of effort going into it
Yeah but that's just the paste. Like he said, once you've got that paste made up all you're doing is throwing ingredients in and letting it simmer down.
"And stay off the fucking telephone ordering shit." This will repeat in my mind every time I feel too lazy to cook.
noooo, dont put green bean in there... you add potato.. and you miss the key ingredient.. belachan..
