Ps: I edited out this part in the video cos it was very long :)) next week I'm switching to a 3 videos per week schedule at least for a while. I'm happy to see that you guys are mostly very ok with that from the poll in the community tab. So.. until I will get an editor, or help with filming, I want to focus on more quality videos, better filming, more dynamic etc and that takes time. All my most popular vids are the more informative ones, look at the latest orchid for beginners, 100k views in 2 weeks, c'mon lol not all videos will get that, but I feel like I am overloading you with vids that I know are not my best. Soooo.. I'll see how it goes, how the revenue will be impacted lol and I'll reconsider if it won't work out. But I hope it will be better for everyone. Better you guys miss me than be fed up with me lol 😋

Who said we are fed up ?! We like all your video's ! For some (including me) I am sure your video's are a daily joy ! You are smart, truly intuitive orchid grower ! Truly an orchid whisperer ! I've learned so much from you ! And by the way, I gave up watching other youtubers' channels about orchids... they say mostly crazy and confusing things anyway ! :) I've said it before... you are sooooo good at what you are doing ! No wonder so many people follow you !

Hey Dani I have recently (last month) acquired a belleara tahoma glacier and I live in Cyprus too! I have it in semihydro in leca and it's kinda stalled (roots are not dying ,psdbulbs were shriveled from the beginning, but it doesn't grow her new growths that are dormant ) Should I pot her in bark selfwatering?

My oldest son got my mother and I orchids 2 years ago for mother's day and mine looks like it is dying. Is there anything I can do to save it as it means the world to me?

We love you and all but I agree 100%. Better for your health and I hope it'll benefit your channel too. Quality over quantity! Exciting to get big enough to need an editor! Congrats and happy hunting! Keep up the good work!

Wow. I can totally relate to this video. It is one of the reasons I don't like "groups" or "forums" and the like. It seems as though no matter how carefully you ask "Why?" someone always gets "grumpy" or "Snarky". How sad. I also find so much contradictory information, which is just confusing.
Hi Beallara Smile Eri! Welcome back! Thanks for helping your mom learn so much about Orchids!

Marlow orchids, in Rochester NY? That's where I go for all my orchid stuff. They have taught me so much along with you! Watching your channel and videos on reporting gave me the confidence to do it myself and when I brought them into Marlow they were very suprized at how well they looked! What a small world it is for orchid growers! Thank you!

I love your orchid tales about individual orchids and the “adventures” you have with them. I am new to orchids and think I have fallen in love with them all! But I am terrified of losing even one. I know it will happen. What is the saying? You haven’t learned about orchids until you’ve lost 100.... I have a few “rescue” plants I found at my work in corners months after they were gifted to someone, as well as on back shelves at our local home and garden stores. For some reason, I took them in as if they were stray cats! Your channel has helped me learn so much about keeping these neglected and discarded orchids alive. Thank you so much for your hard work, your commitment and passion for this most beautiful of plants.

Hi Danny, I'm really glad I found your channel. It gives me the necessary answers to some questions I had regarding my 'older' orchids and their well-being. But the reason I was searching for answers is because I recently received a Phalaenopsis Grandiflora 'Tsarine' orchid. That is a giant orchid for me, I think it weights around 10 kg. I received it as a wedding gift, but had to leave it for a week in a place which was too hot. That resulted in the loss of most of its flowers. So now I'm searching for info about how to take good care of this giant plant, but there's not much to be found. If you have any experience with this kind of orchid, I'd be happy to hear about it. Also for future care, soaking and repotting seem almost impossible with the 'Tsarine'. So tips and tricks about that would be much welcome.
    Salutari din Belgia ;)

I loved this story! I have been a subscriber for only a few months but you have taught me soo much! I think the most important thing about asking “why” or for documented proof - is for real understanding. I think to truly learn how to be a good orchid grower - the whys are very important. We all can’t just accept blanket statements as fact without understanding the thought behind it because we all live in different environments, have different habits as growers, etc. it’s more important to learn how to adapt the info you’ve received to your own personal situation - and one cannot do that without understanding the “why”. ---That being said: You fleetingly mentioned that the mask you were using for this orchid was “too tight.” Can you elaborate on this? What would the best fit be? I have mostly phals but also one cattleya and one den phal that’s sadly dehydrated from rotting roots😟. Wondering if the mask I’m using is partially responsible.

Hi Danny Lovely story and nice look into this channel. I’ve seen another channel who does computer repairs and build live sometimes for over three hours at a clip and he has moderators controlling the trolls. But he sometimes have to remove the moderators when they become too entitled and controlling. I bought my oncidium heaven scent from Marlow Orchids, and in a year has flowered twice and is spiking a third time. He’s usually at orchid shows on the east coast of the United States particularly the Deep Cut Orchid show and North Jersey Orchid Society Orchid Show at beginning of each year. Hope your Beallara will do well and await update. Oh just gotten my dendrobium cuthbertsonii from mountain orchids in Vermont and came in the most adorable miniature clay pot. Hope you’ll put a tutorial on this little guy soon.

I totally agree about the forums, one of my other interest is honeybees, I have 10 hives. I learn a lot online, but not agree with everything. A lot of what people suggested, I think is designed to make you spend more money than you need to. And if you say I don’t believe that, wow people just come out and attack you, it’s crazy. So totally agree better to pick and choose what makes sense logically and don’t get involved, you are not going to change those types of people and it will only make you annoyed and angry. Thank you for what you do and sharing your tips and experiences

Hi Dani! Love your videos & love your storytimes. I've been collecting orchids for about a year now & absolutely love your channel. I have an orchid that I am trying to identify. I'm thinking it may be a zygopetalum or an oncidium type but am not sure. Is there a way I can send you pictures of the roots and orchid itself to see if you can help with identifying it? Thank you.

Hi Danny!^^ I've a Beallara too, my first oncidium, but the leaves started to yellowing :(( I don't know what did I wrong, too much water because it decided to start to grow 4 new bulb (o.o'), or because that I didn't gave enought water, or its normal, because growing 4 new, and the old ones losing their leaves? :( But the lowermost leafe of the oldest new is look like to started to yellowing. Can you please advise me what can I do differently? :(( And sorry for the grammar, I'm not too good in english ^^'

  • @SnowDragonka
    @SnowDragonka 5 лет назад +1

I must say, I completely understand your outrage on people just giving "advice" without any explanation. Like "you have to use potting mix for houseplants"... why? It takes a looong while to find explanations on most forums, people just spread these "truths". And truth is, all those things are true, BUT given the right situation. Turns out the only reason people say you should use potting mix is that it contains particles that make it more airy, cause obviously you don't have earthworms (I think that's the english translation of what I mean) to make your soil more airy and without the added particles the soil compacts and suffocates the roots.
I am a "science" person, I mean I like to experiment and find out not only if something works, but more importantly WHY it works. And every information that lacks explanation of why it works just gives me headaches and irritates me.
I appretiate your channel exactly because you give explanations of why something works for you and why other things don't work for you. Because when I have exact reasons what went wrong or well, I can add it to my experience and draw conclusions.

I'm having problems with my orchids, they're the most common type. I transplanted these 2 in the winter because they're medium was broken down and staying soggy. One of them, the largest has all the growth on one side! It seems it wants to fall over to one side where it's got the longest, heaviest leaves and the roots are all coming out of the pot. I transplanted into a larger , wider clay pot but it won't stay in it. Do I need a bigger pot or put the roots down on the bottom.of the pot then add the wood chip growing medium? They're just not growing or doing well like they used to.
I just don't know what to do with them.
Can I cut more of the roots so the they'll stay in the pot? I know it's good for a few roots to grow out from the top but the one is falling out of the pot with lots of roots growing upward and out.
    Any tips?
